Postcards from Moscow (Postcards from Paris Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 5 ratings

I'm running from my past. Well, not all of it. Just some of it. I don't know if I will ever dance again, but I know I can teach. When the jerk dropped me, he broke me. I wasn't expecting the first postcard from Vasily, so I scoffed. Why would I want to talk with someone who could do something I couldn't? But, my mother had taught me not to be rude, and I responded anyway.

When I saw Jacquellyn Arnolt's name on the list of injured dancers I could write to, I almost didn't do it. She's close to my age, but my French is not the best. We only have one thing in common: our love of dance. I am thrilled to get her postcard back, and respond right away. When she tells me she's coming to Moscow, I am terrified.

We know we can help each other, but can we learn from each other? Ballet has broken us and built us, but will it completely destroy us in the end? Beauty hides under the bright lights of the ballet, amidst the lure of Russia’s most beautiful city.

When French star ballerina Jacqui is dropped and injurs her ankle, she thinks her life is over. A young privileged woman who willingly suffered abuse at the hands of her partner, Jacqui no of no other love. But when things go too far, Jacqui needs a change of scenery.

Nice guy Vasily lives a lonely life in Moscow, where ballet is his entire being. At the urging of his friends, he starts corresponding with Jacqui through postcards. The two really hit it off.

But, when Jacqui gets offered a job at the school that Vasily attends, things get awkward. Will Jacqui be able to save Vasily from a blackmail scandal? Can Vasily save Jacqui from her downward spiral? Read to find out!

I loved this book! It was very well written and full of many twists and turns. I was pulled in from the beginning and hound it hard to put this book down.

Jacqui and Vasily were written deceptively, each with their own backstory and different personalities. They each had their own demons to overcome, which made them relatable to the reader.

Their relationship had its ups and downs, keeping it interesting. The ending was well built up, finalizing beautifully.

I also love how the author wrote about the realities of ballet. The grueling schedule, harsh instructors, addictions, diets and physical and emotion stress. It really helped build the story strongly.

Overall very well done and highly recommended!

Running from the past. Moving toward the future.

When Jaqui needs to restart after breaking her ankle in Paris, where better to learn to dance again then the tough ballet schools of Russia? But what happens when she meets Vasily, the young man she has been exchanging postcards with?

Can he make her dance again? Can she make him a better dancer? Will Russia prove to be too much for her, and send her running back to Paris?

This book had my head spinning in emotion, ballet, the beauty of Russia, and immersed in the sweet romance that Rebekah weaves. I didn't want to put it down, I couldn't put it down. I was upset when it was over, because I wanted more! The perfect stand alone!

Have not read the earlier books in the series however this did not lessen my enjoyment of Postcards from Moscow. The gritty parts of ballet are well portrayed in this book, all the sweat and tears, no guts, no glory.

Jaqui and Vasily have each gone through life challenges before their acquaintance, some more heartbreaking than others. Life choices, whether voluntarily made or not, shaped their outlook on life. Vasily is courageous yet living his life without making any ripples. Jaqui has reached an impasse in her life at a young age and has to make hard decisions.

Both are strong at certain points in their "relationship", each acts as a crutch for the other at different times. This, I find, is crucial as they have their weaknesses that occasionally derail any progress they have made with each other however the angst level is moderate.

The only part I am not so keen on is the way things are wrapped up. Thought it could have more "meat" in it. Otherwise, it is an enjoyable story.

Rebekah Dodson does a beautiful job with not only writing ballet, but with character development and romance in it's entirety. She captures your attention from the first sentence and holds it until the end with her near magic ability to weave words together in a passionate and creative way. You can tell from all of her work, including this, that she has a true passion and an amazing ability to write and it comes from her heart. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance, wants to start reading romance, or who wants to discover a new author.
