When Sparrow Oswald's helicopter is shot down in Africa the last person she expects to come to her rescue is her old friend Ethan Zimmerman. She'd love for there to be more between them but he's not over his wife's death. As they work together to find who is using Ethan's plane to smuggle drugs the spark between them grows. Only question is will Ethan do anything about it.

Ethan isn't looking to move on. He's already loved and lost and no way is he willing to open his heart up to let it happen again. But when he and Sparrow are kidnapped by a drug trafficking warlord and have only each other to rely upon he can't deny that feelings he didn't want are there nonetheless and they're growing. He's going to have to look at his life and decide what he wants his future to look like, only by the time he makes those decisions it might be too late.

    Sparrow Oswald is a member of the Air Force’s elite Nightstalkers and a really good pilot at that, being tiny she is extra determined to show everyone she has what it takes to be a member. She is strong in so many ways and yet has a very caring side too. Ethan Zimmerman had retired from the Air Force years earlier and now flies medical aid around Africa for a charity called Medi-Hope. Lost in grief after losing his wife he is determined to stay single, but Sparrow tests his determination.

    There’s so much drama and action, as is usual for all of this author’s books, that there’s literally never a dull moment in the story. It certainly is a thrilling and suspenseful storyline, where at times, it’s nail-biting too. Once you hop on the emotional roller coaster with Sparrow and Ethan you are set for a bumpy but enjoyable ride.

    I love it when a story has twists and turns, unpredictability is a key factor for me in judging it as a well-plotted story. This book takes you by surprise quite a few times, sometimes by small degrees and sometimes by big leaps. However, it takes you on an entertaining adventure from the northern part of Africa to the east coast of America.

    I fully recommend this fabulous romantic suspense in this sensational series. Next book, Protecting Hawk—bring it on, I am ready!

    Sparrow and Ethan are friends who have a need to be together but because Ethan lost his wife 4 years earlier he harbors so much guilt imagining being with someone else. I totally appreciate that Ethan did not jump into a relationship quickly after his wife died. But the constant second guessing and feeling guilt and pushing Sparrow away while pulling her in at the same time got to be ridiculous.

    There is a good mystery to solve, but no real progress on figuring out who is after Sparrow’s family — the mystery woven through the entire series. Really needs to get dealt with more.

    I am crazy about the Oswald's and the mates they find. Sparrow KS an elite helicopter pilot who doesn't know she is the new target of interest to an unknown enemy of their family. Ethan is a friend who volunteers to find her when her helo is shot down. They have a history of friendship but things change when danger comes calling g again and again and again.

    Wow! Another FANTASTIC story by Jane! This one is about Sparrow and Ethan. It is intense right from the beginning! Sparrow goes through so much but she is definitely one tough gal. Survival is definitely in her DNA. After the helicopter crash, Ethan is the one to find her as the only survivor. Ethan finally deals with his grief and the two finally get together but not before a crazy woman tries to take out Sparrow. What a dramatic finish to their story! FANTASTIC job Jane! I would highly recommend this book! Can't wait for the next book!

    Sparrow is a pilot and a very good one at that but even she can't stop what is about to happen. Then the helicopter crashed.
    Ethan is in Africa now. After losing his wife, he just wants to be alone and do what he can to help others by flying in and dropping off supplies to places that need it. He has just received a call that Sparrow is in trouble. He is going to find her.
    Ethan and Sparrow have known each other for quite some time. He finds her attractive but feels like he is betraying his lost wife. When they were being held captive, his feelings changed some but later he realizes it's time to move on. Now she is gone again.
    Eagle has called in A search and rescue team from Fallsport, Virginia to help in the search. Ethan needs Sparrow back.

It’s a shadow of pain that walks beside you. Jane has projected this with depth and understanding.
    I loved how Ethan understood Sparrow’s independence and strength, the fact that although she was of small stature she was more than capable of being his equal professionally and personally and I loved that treated her as such and not like some fragile female.
    Sparrow is a true kick ass character. Despite her size she’s just as capable as the teams she transports in and out of the worlds worst hell holes. Her strength goes without saying, given the family she is a part of. She’s driven, professional, cool under fire. I love that Jane Blythe has brought us such a strong character who can more than just succeed in a predominantly man’s world but she can also be feminine and a woman.
    Jane Blythe is such a talented author. The depth she brings to her worlds and characters is astounding. She pulls you in seamlessly. Her character welcoming you like an old cherished friend. These are characters that not only stay with you, they walk directly into your heart and take up permanent residence.
    Can’t recommend this highly enough.
    All the stars in the world couldn’t truely portray how riveting and addictive this story is.

    So far, I'm not sure who if the siblings I favour! Sparrow unconventional story, the strong sister, keeping a calm head with others lives at risk and when the mystery person chasing her family picks her out, everything changes. Ethan takes up a favour for Eagle to find Sparrow and the story unfolds. Action packed love story with a different couple of twists fab read, suggest reading series in order for full impact!
