Professor Blood (Ironwrought Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 165 ratings

"You're my enemy. The last person I'll love."

For two hundred years, Quinn has carried the weight of his sister's death. Between teaching college classes, he buries himself in blood research. His goal? Never to drink from humans again. Except the new student in class, Brandon, smells like bliss.

Ever since vampires murdered his parents, Brandon has sworn to kill every vampire he meets. With eighty deaths under his belt, he enrolls in a biology class about blood... Only to discover that Professor Quinn is a vampire.

When Brandon blows his cover in a steamy clash, he blackmails Quinn to stay enrolled. But Quinn helps his students, refuses to drink human blood. The more time Brandon spends with him, the more he realizes that Quinn is
human. If there's one thing he wants more than Quinn's body, it's Quinn himself. And that goes against everything Brandon's been fighting for.

Professor Blood is a standalone erotic gay romance novella in the Ironwrought series. Featuring snarky banter, heart-pumping tension, and sexy, spicy hate-sex. No cliffhangers, no cheating. But there definitely is a Happily Ever After.

Hello! Thank you for wondering about me; I'm a funny, sausage-loving goofball with a surprisingly tolerant husband (his ghost, now!) When I'm not busy writing (which is very rare), I haunt grocery stores and stuff my freezer with my favorite food.

I've been scribbling since I was fourteen, and I believe that everyone needs a safe place. My dorky guys fall in deep, devoted love, the way Huz showed me a person can be loved, and every book is guaranteed to end in a HEA.

Professor Blood is the second book in the Ironwrought series by Anna Wineheart. I thought this was a great addition to the series. I liked the enemies to lovers theme. I like when the heart overrules the mind, and they just can't stop acting on their attraction. The chemistry and scenes between Brandon and Quinn were passionate and hot. I liked both Brandon and Quinn and getting to see Seb and Oriel again. I can't wait to know what the feds are going to do next. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I really liked this book it is a great continuation of the series. I love how the two come together the whole teacher/ student dynamic is interesting. To watch Brandon come to terms with the fact that not all Vamps are the blood thirsty fiends that he was taught to believe they were is interesting. I like how Quinn is dedicated to his friends and helping them, however at his own expense. The two of them have to come together to figure out their attraction and fight an enemy that could do more harm than good. A really good read.

I really enjoyed this book. This my first time reading any of Anna Wineheart work. The story of two opposites falling in love was so good I could not put the book down until I finished it. Quinn and Brandon on paper seem unlikey match, but the sexual tension oozes off the pages. I am looking foward to reading about their next adventure.

For two hundred years Quinn has been trying to deal with the death of his sister at his hands. As a newly turned vampire, she just wouldn't go away and he lost his grip in his blood lust. He hates himself for his mistake. Brandon is a vampire hunter who found his parents dead at the hands of vampires. A hatred grows. But to become a better hunter Brandon signs up at the local college to learn about the blood vampires need to survive. Into the class he meets Quinn, Professor Blood. Quinn spends all his time trying to come up with a synthetic blood source for vampires, like himself, who are weakened because the will not drink from humans. Quinn survives on animal blood, but it's missing vital nutrients that are need for him to be strong. When discovered by Brandon, enemies are born. I found this book to be somewhat lacking in storyline. The beginning was well set up for a great, edge of your seat, story. But by the middle it felt rushed. There were many unanswered questions. I was given this ARC by the author to give an honest review. I understand if this was a setup for another book. Establishing characters and situations for a juicer story coming. Nothing really indicated that at the ending. It could have been an outline for longer more fleshed out story. I hope Ms. Wineheart has that intention. I love vampire stories, especially with romance and sexy spots interwoven.

I enhoyed this book quite a bit. There was a perfect blend of action and character development that kept me intrigued without anything feeling forced. Quinn and Brandon's relationship developed so organically! Especially compared to past books from the author. Both characters' equal share of mistakes made perfect sense considering their backgrounds, and they worked through them beautifully. Loved the action, too, and also the super adorable ending! <3 Hoping for more in this series! Curious to know what happens with Oriel's blood and the coven! :O

Read an ARC version of this and loved this book. It pulled me in right from the start. By the ending I was on the edge of my sit. And can I just say I was clutching my chest through out the ending.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too short and not enough depth
Reviewed in Australia on November 2, 2020
After reading book 1, I was optimistic in hoping for more from this one. Specifically, some sort of answer for Oriel's blood issues - if not a cure, then at least some sort of explanation as to why it occurred. Once again, I think this book was just too short to really get any impact. The storyline seemed rushed, the dialogue between Quinn and Brandon bordering on too corny at times, and as with the first book, we have a balance of not quite erotica but no real storyline development or depth either. Same as with the first book, one of the first interactions between the MCs leads to a sexual encounter, and moves forward very quickly to love (within around a month for this book, as opposed to the week for book 1, so that's at least something).

I was also trying to understand why Brandon seemed to switch off and not recognise Quinn at times, like a haze or confusion came over him like the vampires got when they tasted Oriel's blood - why did this happen to Brandon? Was it just his PTSD type reaction to vampires in general or something else? It was never explained or expanded upon.

Then we have the whole plotline (if you can call it that) with the feds - it just doesn't work. They know how to randomly contact Brandon and get him to do their dirty work cleaning up vampire's around town, but can't use his phone (which they now have) and find Quinn in the contacts and trace Quinn's phone? It was inconsistent with how they could do some things, but not others.

I did like the multiple epilogues that were set over different intervals into the future - but overall I'm finding this series lacking as compared to the other works by this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this book.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 25, 2017
I really like this new series as it gives a different take on the vampire/human relationship.

Brandon is a warrior who has killed 80 vampires since one killed his family and after taking the class on blood to learn more he meets the professor who is also a vampire in disguise.

Quinn was forcibly turned 200 years ago and after accidentally killing his beloved sister has vowed never to drink from a human again. His goal is to produce an artificial blood that would nourish a vampire but so far his experiments have been unsuccessful.

Brandon and Quinn must find a way to deal with each other without killing one of them, but what happens when you fall for your enemy. Recommended.
