She did not come into writing from years of scribbling words on paper. Her background is rooted in visual arts and making pictures. Encouraged to make those pictures out of words Lulu began writing just to see what would happen. What happened opened some portal that now allows characters to stroll right up to her and demand their stories be written. They move into her head rent free until Lulu transcribes their love lives onto the page.

Lulu cannot ride a horse, a motorcycle, spin a hula hoop, or play roller derby. Yes, she has attempted all of those, even if it has been decades since she's been on a horse or a motorcycle. She embraces the crazy that comes with that one little genetic mutation and attempts to live up to the reputation that proceeds her. Lulu would like to apologize for her contribution to the hole in the ozone layer from her use of hairspray in the 1980’s.

    This story started out as just Honey and Morgan meeting and Honey taking a chance on Morgan. After being in an abusive relationship she's not sure if she is ready. But Morgan keeps coming into the coffee shop where she works. He's not her usual type, but her friend Lana tells her she needs to start looking under the surface. He's nice, treats her well, and she feels safe around him. But as the story progresses we find out that Morgan's pack and company are involved in negotiations with former rival packs, and even a vampire coven. These new allies might be putting Morgan in danger, and if they connect him to Honey will she be in danger also. But Honey is already in danger from her form boyfriend, who also has ties to Morgan's company. I loved Honey's character. She had re-invented herself, and was working on being the best she could be, and being happy. Morgan was sweet, compassionate, and loving. But he's also strong and fierce and can take of her. He's a wolf shifter after all.

    It took me awhile to get this done and I'm so glad that I have finished. This one will be forever remembered as the book that took me forever due to covid-19!
    I really loved Honey's character, coming from the fast lane, money and cars, to escaping abuse, and finally finding peace. A lot of twists and turns and things that I wasn't expecting but really enjoyed the storyline. I like to put myself in the story when I'm reading it so you get to feel all emotions. Although it may not be for everyone I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to reading the others in the series. Lulu is a new to me author that I'm going to read more of.

    I liked the dynamic between the two main characters, Honey and Morgan, and some of the supporting characters. I do admit I wasn't a big fan of Honey at certain points. Nothing that 'ruined' the story for me but definitely made me roll my eyes a bit, like when she compared calling herself fat to black people using the N-word (she's a recovering ED). And then when Morgan came to pick her up in an old rusty truck and she gave a big speech about how she used to be shallow and judge people based on their cars.

    One thing I will say is the supernatural plot at the end felt a bit rushed and glossed over. I do wish that was expanded on a bit more. However I know some of the plot is mentioned again in subsequent books, so we shall see where that leads us!

    Overall, I really enjoyed the main hero's and their story. I think they ended up balancing each other out well and they had chemistry. I look forward to reading more of this series!

    Honey has a difficult past, a lot of which centered around vapid, pretty people. The life-threatening issues that life created for her, including a scary ex, led her to start over, with a simpler lifestyle. Her boss encourages her to open her mind to the idea of dating men different from the ones she had previously been interested in. Enter Morgan, on the surface a scruffy looking construction worker. Beneath the surface, he has many more layers, and he sees right into Honey and finds someone whose trust and love he desperately wants to earn.
    This book subverts the typical aggressive male wolf shifter/submissive human woman trope, shedding light on a healthy potential relationship, from both points of view. There is plenty of steam, too. Alongside the romantic elements, there is action, danger, someone gets kidnapped, wolf shifter DNA research, villains whose heads you want to smash...did I mention I love this book? I'm looking forward to the release of the second one!

    I just finished this fast read, full of wolves, not werewolves, and other races. Surprised at how much I enjoyed it, to the point of wanting to know what happens further in the series. It was a full length novel, but didnt feel complete. Lots more could have been mentioned re main characters, and the family as a whole is huge and facing problems. At least 8 of the characters though had real personality facets that made me want to know more about them. There were too many ‘fat asses’ and double bed references, and some very unsmooth romance. Nasty characters, unknown enemies, and ancient sense of family. Quite an unusual first book.

    I'm already missing this world! I got so caught up in it. I felt like I was sitting in the coffee shop where Honey worked, watching the story play out. The author paints the picture with imagery that puts you right in the middle of it. I love that you get the hero and heroine together on the page together a lot so their romance blooms authentically. Plenty of grins and giggles not only for the characters but for the reader! Sturdy story with complications to keep things interesting. I could feel the foundation being laid for a lengthy series, and I'm ready to settle into it!
