Aran is my spirit animal!
"Sometimes a girl was just too tired to *un alive*. My creative *un-aliving* juices weren't flowing.Yes, my depression was definitely impeding me from living my best life."Aran is my spirit animal! I shouldn't divulge that I love her because I can relate to her so much but I'm gonna anyways...yes, we both have the "mentally crumbling" vibe. I love this sarcastic *****! I think I ended up highlighting about a quarter of the book because of all the comments she made that had me giggling."Mentally, I was a *lut. Physically, I was terrified of intimacy. Spiritually, I didn't like men."John is everything. He's the ultimate "golden retriever boyfriend", but whose also psychotic, so like a rabid golden retriever? But its perfection."You're also a curmudgeon, an angry beastie who I just want to scoop up and protect. You're like a cute Chimera that fights for her friends and feels sympathy for her enemies. You're my little Smurf."The kings are d**ks but this is a story about villains, which is something everyone should consider before starting this story. Don't be surprised if they don't have redeeming qualities. The multiple POV really helps you understand them though. I love that Aran would not back down from them. She'd shock the devils with an insult ("Mitch") and I'd enjoy the other kings trying to hide their amusement."Usually, I ignored the kings. Their opinions were like male thongs. Useless. Disturbing. And literally no one asked for them."And good news! If you loved Sadie's story, her and her men are in this book quite a lot. As well as Jinx!Highly recommend Aran's story! She's a "drug-dependent swamp monster" that I'm absolutely obsessed with. I have devoured all of Jasmine's books and this one was no different.

Captivating. Sad. Depressive. Thrilling. Exciting. Hilarious. These are just some of the words I think about when thinking of this book. So much is going on and so many tangled webs were weaved I truly have no idea how this will all play out. The interesting thing about this series is there two groupings for the harem but I wonder if they are all going to come together. Finding out info about John it took me a while to figure out they were separate people, and not one entity that switched back and forth. I completely get why Aran is so depressed but this is the cruel shifterverse so I’m curious how this will play out. Will we get another spin off with more to this web? I love how this is written too, Aran’s tangents and such never annoyed me, never felt too long. Now that we know more than we did last book I’m hopeful we can get even more answers. Do the high council answer to anyone? Who if so? Why are they scared of Aran?

I stayed through the first three books because that scene with Ascher, Cobra and Jax in the first book haunted me, in a good way. The actual everything else was meh (wasn’t warned enough about the blood letting + Jax, Ascher and Aran were the best characters + not enough of Ashers backstory + spicy scenes after the first mentioned were just not what you’d expect) but books 4 and 5???

The plot, magnificent, the spicy scenes, beautiful , the twists, chefs kiss, the feelings, heartwarming and heart wrenching.

Aran is a resilient character who keeps going even when she realllyyyy doesnt want to, relatable af. Her story was just written so well, and I’m glad that some of her love interests know how to treat her right, especially after everything she has been put through. This one had me giggling and kicking my feet like no tomorrow!

I will be honest, I almost dropped this series. The last book was so hard to get through and I couldn't suffer through another book of the Kings treating her like shit. But the story is so unique and intriguing, I couldn't put it down. I also held out hope things would get better. Let me tell you, it gets better! I'm glad I pushed through it and I've barely gotten any sleep because I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to start the next one and see where this story goes!

I read The Blood of Hercules earlier in the year and because loved it so much I decided to read this series. I went into it completely blind and boy oh boy was I surprised! (In the best way possible) I recommend you just dive right in and loose yourself in the wonderful universe Jasmine Mas has created.
The two female main characters are relatable, hilarious, multifaceted, badass and unapologetically themselves throughout the entire book. Their character arcs are some of the best I’ve encountered yet.
The male main characters are chaotic, possessive, obsessive, murderous but will turn into simpering babies for their woman( in a way that is unique to them).
Jasmine Mas is officially my favorite author.

Much like Orion whenever something peaks my interest, I become slightly obsessive. So, when I read Aran's book last month, it consumed me - point blank period - c o n s u m e d m e. I mean I tried so hard to read other books to rescue me from my slump but it just wasn't working. I don't know what she put in her series, but honey it's ADDICTIVE. I was checking Jasmine Mas's insta, tik tok and her website religiously for ANY bit of info on the upcoming book. I feasted on the crumbs she gave us, I was so excited - especially after reading the sneak peak she previously released.

I wanted to see the development of Arabella's friendship with John, wanted to peer more into his personality thing he had going on. I wanted to watch how the Kings reaction to Aran being Arabella changed their perspectives. I wanted to know more  about the tattoo's. I wanted more Sadie and Aran with all their guys around. I wanted some progression with at least one of the Kings. I. JUST. WANTED.

Ugh, Psycho Academy just gave me the feels and I didn't want that feeling to go away. So you can bet that I accidentally stayed up all night for Psycho Devils and read until my eyes drooped shut, napped for a few hours, woke up and finished it! Any book that can make me pull an all nighter and lay in bed asking Google repeatedly if it is midnight PST yet because I literally cant think of anything else but that book deserves a review. Here goes!

    Spoilers ahead !!!!

It was like the whole dynamic had changed in Psycho Devils. It even read different than Psycho Academy. Arabella is, very obviously,  distraught by being bound with a slave tattoo to the Kings. She is not doing too well mentally and she started to see all of their darker sides with open eyes. I loved being able to read through the eyes of Orion, Scorp and Corvus. It was cool seeing Arabella from a different perspective. I wish upon all the stars we could have had some more Orion Povs, it felt like she started to build something with him in the first book only for it to be yanked it away. Then, something entirely different with her and Orion started to be built in this book- but it's like it got put on the back burner.  I do hate that her relationship with the kings took so many steps back in this book(but the guys are finding out ya reap what ya sow). There didn't seem to be as much banter between the Kings and her as I wanted, or the type of banter i wanted and expected after reading the sneak peak. To me it seemed there wasn't enough individual interaction with them to build a foundation for them to work with later. I am worried because Jasmine decided to add in 2 more love interests in this book and focus on them a bit that it is all going to be cramed together now in book three and it won't be fully fleshed out. Either that or it will just be anticlimactic? Idk, fingers crossed i trust in her.

Seeing all the different species come together for the tournament was very intriguing! It opens up your eyes to how vast the worlds are in Jasmine's books. The anger from Sari just felt misplaced, even her explanation doesn't make sense, it just felt like she was scrambling for a reason to be upset? I didn't feel like it added anything to Arabella's or Sari's character development. Just makes Sari seem like a crappy being.  It was wonderful having more Sadie/Aran interactions! They were cracking me up!

I loved the concept of the twins switching out and doing the whole Jeckel/Hyde thing. Amazing, amazing idea! I felt like Jasmine wrote their personalities well, I felt like it was easy to tell which twin you were reading going back to book 1. I even love the idea of her having a love interest outside of the kings who treats her so beautifully like she deserves. BUT (and this is a big but for me and the reason this book got dinged 2 stars.) The relationship she has with both of the twins is gross imo. I mean let's not forget that they are brothers :/  It just made me cringe.  Idk why aran couldn't have stayed besties with John and had a romantic interest with Lukas or vice versa? To me, the romantic relationship between John and Aran felt thrown together and forced, like Jasmine was trying to change what she said in the first book and what it had meant to make it all seem romantic in the 2nd book. It took away from Lukas being there later in the book, almost like he was an after thought. Imo, it would have read better if either John had stayed best friend, Lukas had become love interest OR John became love interest and Lukas became Arans friend.  Maybe one of them will kick the bucket in the upcoming war and that will make it less ick. Idk

To conclude, I am happy that I read this book. It truly was not what I had expected. Im a sucker for a real enemies to lover trophe, and Mas sure knows how to write one! It was a good book and I'll be reading the third one for sure, but unfortunately I'm much less obsessed with it now than I was yesterday.

5.0 out of 5 stars Psycho devils does not disappoint
Reviewed in Canada on July 26, 2023
I have been waiting for this book since blasting through the first book starring Aran. I have been salivating for this book and am now anxiously awaiting the next one in the series.

Psycho Devils did not disappoint. If you have read the previous books in the cruel shifterverse series, you'll know what to expect. Aran was unhinged and the book was chaos and I LOVED IT. I laughed out loud in wild cackles, to the point where coworkers asked what I was reading. Aran is hilarious in her head and in conversations. John and his 'bestie' antics made my day and I am living for that. Having a Jekyll and Hyde golden retriever in your corner is everything.

We last left off with Aran being tied to the devils and her having some feelings about it. Our girl is struggling. Depression and drugs are main characters in this book, but Aran has people around her that are there to support and it's worth it to see them be there for her, even when she's in a self harm spiral. The devils get volun-told to participate in the Legionaire games along with some other familiar faces. These games are tests of physical strength, powers, skills and psychological prowess. Throughout the games and the times in between challenges, we laugh, we cry, we party, we grow, we get lots and lots of stitches. The Devils are misogynistic alpha holes that grew on me during the 700 pages. It was enlightening to read through their POVs and see where their heads are at. John was the best friend that any 6 foot tall, blue hair Queen could ask for. I am a big fan. Sadie and her men make an appearance and I loved seeing more of her and Aran's relationship.

If you loved the first book, this one continues on the path and I can't wait to follow to the next one. I laughed hard, I cringed, I whispered WTF. I loved every second. The 700 pages flew by and didn't feel intimidating. It's a must read for me and I will absolutely recommend it to anyone who enjoys alpha-hole bully MMCs, unhinged but strong and hilarious FMCs, golden retriever besties and paranormal romance. 5 stars.
