Psync (Enchanted University Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,396 ratings

Eli's first day of college was when he began to hear a voice in his head.

Being on his own for the first time was a dream come true for Eli.

Except for the whole not being able to be touched thing.

And the not being able to sleep without nightmares thing.

And the never being able to remember to take his meds or eat thing.

Okay, maybe his family had a point about not wanting him to be on his own. But Eli was making it work. At least he was making it work until he started hearing the Voice. It was a nice voice - if a bit snarky. Was it weird to like the voice in your head?

Then the tall, cold-eyed, smoking hot Japanese student started trying to take care of Eli and it felt too good to be true. Was it?

Eli never stopped to consider that if the guy of his dreams was real, then his nightmares might be too.

Psync is a steamy, 18+ 94,000 word MM romance with the following tropes: Fated mates, touch aversion turned to bliss when touching your mate, hurt/comfort, yandere main character, and meddling gods.

Contains:
-Trauma-related mental illness
-Mentions of past childhood trauma
-Size difference
-Obsessive/possessive love interest
-Touch Averse MC who can only be touched by love interest
-HEA
-College romance with a fantasy element
-Hurt/comfort

This is an amazingly cute love story. The fact that it is about two men is way less important than the facts that the writing is excellent, the characters are well developed and engaging, the book is well edited, there is plenty of humor, and the love story is so cute it had me smiling the whole time I read it. If you haven't ever read a MM love story, this is an excellent one to start with. A well written love story is a well written love story no matter the gender, as love is love, and this is a particularly well written one. I very much enjoyed this book, and look forward to more in the series, and would absolutely love to see these characters again.

Knowing that there is a sequel to this book.... I feel like that saves certain things for me because, obviously, there is a continuation of the story to help answer some questions.

I went into this with waaay different expectations for this book. What I got was actually really sweet. The Hurt/Comfort in these pages was definitely dominant and so so sweet! I lived for every moment that Hakura was sweet, tender, protective, and possessive. Did this relationship throw red flags? Sure. But was I here for every second, cheering on this sweet couple? Absolutely! The connection these two found was so sweet and filled with depth and humor and love. I cannot rave enough!

I think something I would have liked more of was the mental connection, especially in the beginning. There were several mentions that each person heard a voice.... but not many instances that it actually showed. This book left me with a lot of unanswered questions, so I'm super glad there is a sequel to hopefully tie everything up. This was a unique read that definitely touches the emotions!

    Tropes Included:
    MM Love Interests
    Soul Mates
    Hurt/Comfort
    Mental Health Rep
    MMC Past Physical Abuse
    Possessive/Protective MMC
Touch Adverse MMC (Except for HIM)
    Only One Bed
    HFN

Zile truly has an art of building wild and unique worlds that will stick with you. Eli & Haruka are true soul mates who were meant to find each other. Both boys are broken, yes, but together, they make one perfect soul. The story building is next level in a beautiful and unexpected way that grabs you and holds you the entire ride. Yes their fated mates, but they don't mean they don't fight with each other, making the banter just flow.

I am of two minds when it comes to Psync. Part of me seriously loved this book and part of me is just thinking it's in the good category. The characters are brilliant. They are people that are just lovable and HEAs are a must for all of them. Well, the good ones, at least.

The plot for this was interesting and a unique and fun play on the Fated Mates trope. I like how it was handled and that there was a sense of mystery behind everything that was happening. I do wish that there was more explination earlier on in the story. It felt like the beginning was great and so was the end, but maybe there needed to be either a more detailed middle section or something to lead up to the ending better. Something to make the whole "Enchanted University" aspect actually live up to the Enchanted part better. The ending is so great with this I just wish there were more, or that aspects of it could have been discovered through out the rest of the book instead of waiting for the last few chapters.

I listened to it as an audiobook and it was difficult to get into, but only because there was a weird reverberation or echo like quality to the beginning of the recording. Otherwise, the narration is well done.

Eli and Haruka are so perfect, and their story had me hooked right from the start! I really enjoyed how the supernatural connection was handled—all of the ‘ok this is weird, I don’t need this type of crazy in my life’ without a lot of the overdramatic situations that happen in a lot of mysterious connection stories.
For the most part, the novel is really well paced. Near the end it picks up for climactic reasons, though I did feel it went too quickly. Not sure if that’s because it felt rushed and the ‘final battle’/reveals were kind of sudden, or because I was so into it by that point that I was reading it really fast.

All I know is I was sad when I finished and I absolutely need more Eli and Haruka in my life….and if not them specifically, definitely more about their world and the supernatural forces at play. The mix of mythos involved was a really cool touch!

This was my first book by this author and I am completely in love. I love mythology and the take on a fated mate that is based on legends and gods instead of the typical shifters.

I think I wasn't fully aware of the fact this book has a bit of a supernatural side to it, it took me by surprise and would have thrown me off if the story wasn't so good. Young love and learning how to be yourself, stand for yourself and fight for what you really want. Is a lovely story.
