Puffin Bay: A small town, enemies-to-lovers, single dad, grumpy/sunshine romance! Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 1,322 ratings

Heartbreak led me to Puffin Bay, searching for peace in a small, coastal town. Four years later, my bar is thriving and my next business is just what the town needs.

It doesn’t need Roman Tominey. Arrogant, city-boy, suit-wearing grump - he knows how to push every one of my buttons, and after an evening of bad decisions, he knows how to push that one too.

When Roman’s newly found teenage son joins him, Roman’s summer stay is extended. We spend the days arguing over a building project the local council insist we do together, and the evenings with him sneaking into my room.

Then Roman’s ideas for Puffin Bay’s development cause all out war between us.

Those sparks between us? They become weapons.

Only Roman doesn’t fire his. It seems he wants something more than another zero on the end of his bank balance and he might just discard his suit - and its buttons - to keep on pressing mine.

This is such a great Grumpy/Enemies to Lovers story. Amalie is fierce yet kind and strong but vulnerable. Roman is arrogant yet humble and caring. I love the juxtaposition in each of main characters. I highly recommend reading this book, such an amazing escape. Amalie got away from the difficulties of her family and the big city. She worked her way to Puffin Bay where she has finally found her people and her home. She worked hard to build her Inn and cares deeply for everyone in the small community. Roman is a Real Estate tycoon, looking for his next project. Puffin Bay is a great place to expand too. His changes threaten to shake things up, and he runs into trouble with the gorgeous and stubborn owner of the Inn. He must convince her that change is good before she runs him out of town.

If you like small town stories, this book is for you. The setting is a gorgeous beach town in Wales. It has a cast of characters in the town including a cantankerous grandpa, a feisty heroine and a handsome outsider who has come to town to make some changes. The banter between Amelie and Roman is strong as the rest of the town watches them with interest. When things change, they think they are discreet, but everybody knows what’s going on. It was fun to watch their relationship build; to get to know some of the town’s inhabitants; and see the town pull together when fishermen or tourists need rescuing in horrific storms. The setting alone will make you wish you could go there. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I can't say enough of how I loved this book. The characters are quirky and so loveable. Amelia has to be one of the best characters I have read about in a book in ages. The wonderful town of Puffin Bay is it's own character in the book. I am so glad I found Ms. Dyer as a new writer for me. I am looking forward to May hours of wonderful reading with this series and her other works. Enjoy!

I have been waiting for Amelie’s book for what seemed like forever, and Annie Dyer didn’t disappoint! It was so good to learn more about her family history and to relate it to the way Roman was raised. The tension between the two was both intense and fun to watch especially when Caleb was thrown into the mix. I loved all the characters of the citizens of Puffin Bay and Alfred was a kick!
Can’t wait to see how this series progresses and I’m looking forward to Fleur and the stoic Thane’s story so much. The only thing lacking for me was more Callahan-Green character interaction and maybe a longer follow through after the walk on the beach scene ending.

The Puffin Bay series is starting out great. I’m so happy that Amelie from the Callaghan Green series finally has a book and especially a happily ever after.

Amelie used her inheritance to buy an old pub in Puffin Bay. She has a lot of plans for additional businesses in town until successful businessman, Roman, shows up and ruins her plans.

The chemistry between Amelie and Roman is incredible. Their bickering and disagreements quickly turning into passion. This budding relationship takes a turn when Roman brings his son onto the island, the one he had not told anyone about.

The citizens of Puffin Bay are very interesting and several of them have stories I would like to know more about. Great first book in this new series.

I liked the fact that the characters felt very real and the story line didn't feel contrived. It's not very often that I laugh out loud when reading but I did on several occasions with this book. Enjoy!

So slow it never took off. No climax. No conflict. No avast. Three single dad? Not really. Not a whole lot going on between to these two main characters either.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was completely swept away

This series is a kind of spin-off the the Callaghan series, however, it can be read completely by itself in its own right.

Amelie's story is both beautiful and amazing. Amelie is introduced to us in the Callaghan series, but you do not need to have read that to love this series. Amelie moves to Puffin Bay to start again and live her life how she wants it to be. Running the local pub / B&B she is trying to make a community around her. This is a story about someone defending what she loves, as she is worried something else will be destroyed by someone else.

Roman is up in the Bay for a job, he is part of a company trying to build a hotel and most likely buy up more property to build holiday homes. This is not what the local community wants, they need actual housing to create a steady income into the Bay.

Roman and Amelie do not hit it off from the start, they have a spark that they think is them clashing, until they realise it's far more than that.

This series is very different from the other series Dyer has written, it is not just about family, it is about community. The vibes for Puffin Bay are far different from the London or Manchester vibes. Once you get to know all the locals, all the names will start to become individuals in your mind. This is such a beautiful story and it captures the feel of the community vibe - but remember it is not based on an actual place.
