The idea for the 7 Forbidden Arts series was born while I was researching the element of fire for my novel, Pyromancist. Divination by fire (pyromancy) was one of seven arts forbidden by the church in the Middle Age, giving rise to the name of the seven forbidden arts. Other arts include the elements of air (aeromancy), water (hydromancy), earth (geomancy), spirit (necromancy), animal (scapulimancy), and palm reading (chiromancy). 7 Forbidden Arts is a supernatural, steamy romance series with dark elements of both setting and relationships. The focus is always on love ... the never-ending kind that borders on obsession, and that follows a soul into forever.

All books can be read as standalones, but there is an overall series arc. For best reading enjoyment and character insight, I recommend that the books are read in chronological order.

    Charmaine Pauls has given us a mind-bending tale of life, love, and magic! This story will break your heart and give you hope for the future of Clelia and Joss. Their chemistry is hot and steamy. The other characters also leave you wanting to know more about them and how they came to have one of the Seven Forbidden Arts. I am anxiously awaiting the next book.

    This is book one of the “Seven Forbidden Arts” series and can be read as a stand alone. But I can’t wait to read each of these books.

    Ok first off I used to be big into paranormal books but these past couple years took a break from them. So I want to give a huge THANK YOU to this author for drawing me back in. The paranormal isn’t strong in this book but it is enough to know you want more!! How hot is a fire starter?!?! I enjoyed this book very much.

    The characters are exciting. They each have their own unique traits and personalities. I can’t wait to read more. Cain intrigues me a lot, so I am excited to hear more.

    Joss is your alpha male. Yes he was bossy and didn’t give a shit what she thought. He was going to protect her and that was that. That will bother some readers but not me. I am head over heels for him. Clelia grew from page one until the end. I loved watching her grow. She ended up quite a bad ass. And their relationship was hot from the very beginning. In my mind I was constantly shaking Joss telling him to tell her the truth and how he really feels. He drove me crazy.

    I think my only down fall was the length of the book. Some parts felt a little too much. But don’t worry you will enjoy this book!! The author is very descriptive and knows exactly how to draw you in.

    Pyromancist is the first book in the 7 Forbidden Arts series, and it follows Cleclia as she begins to learn that the fires that suddenly plaque her small village may not be random, but started by her while she sleepwalks. Cleclia is having dreams of Joss, the boy she fell in love with as a child, who she knows is coming for her. Joss is returning to the small village he grew up in, and subsequently ran from, to solve the mystery of the fires. But there’s something more sinister at work, and time is running out for Joss and Cleclia.

    I really enjoyed the premise, and characters in this story. Cleclia goes from shy and naive, to bold and a bit fearless, and I liked that transition for her. Joss was an intense, guarded and overall just sexy alpha. Their push and pull of a relationship grabbed me, and held me until the very end.

    Although we didn’t see much of them, the secondary characters were entertaining, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of them in the next books.

    I would have liked to see more of the world, and arts explained. Some aspects seemed to be just grazed over, which could be just first book syndrome, but the premise was so interesting that I really wanted MORE of it. The romance was stellar, and overall, this book was sexy as hell, and I’m looking forward to reading the next book.

    Holy Smokes!
    I loved this book.
    I thought it was unique and original.
    I loved the characters.
    And the plot is gripping.
    Clelia is a shy reserved young lady.
    With a big heart.
    She lives with her grandfather and her dogs.
    The island they live on is quite most of the year.
    Except during the summer months,when the tourists arrive.
    Suddenly her quite quaint island starts experiencing unexplained fires.
    When her childhood crush comes back demanding answers.
    Her world is about to implode!
    Joss left the island he grew up on to escape the tragedy his life was known for.
    He is now part of an elite team.
    Finding and eliminating evil.
    Joss is a imposing figure.
    Not just physically.
    But also his personality.
    He’s possessive and domineering.
    He’s a man of few words.
    But big actions.
    Coming back to the island to try and figure out who/what is causing the unexplained fires.
    Brings back many memories.
    Some unwanted and some not.
    Joss has never forgotten Clelia.
    Not only because of her beauty.
    But because she was always there in his life,hiding in the background.
    I loved both these characters.
    I liked even though Clelia is shy.
    She’s not a pushover.
    She demands to be heard and acknowledged.
    She’s kind and sweet.
    And loves wholeheartedly.
    But she doesn’t let love blindly lead her.
    I loved her unassuming strength and determination.
    It just gave her character more depth and more nature.
    Joss was incredible!
    I loved him.
    For the struggles he went through and survived.
    For his beliefs.
    And for his need to protect
    His good looks and dominance enhances his overall persona.
    Joss and Clelia even though are opposite each other in the way they present themselves.
    They individually are self reliant and persevere.
    But together they are a force to be reckoned with.
    The dynamics of their relationship is sexy and tension swirls around it.
    But their chemistry is always right there front and center.
    It’s steamy and hot.
    And also filled with such an intensity it comes to life off the pages.
    I loved how Ms. Pauls describes the different places and atmospheres.
    I could see them come to life in my minds eye.
    I also loved the secondary characters and most especially the dogs.
    I’m looking forward to reading more of this captivating series!
