This was such a great book of short stories. Jen Osborn has truly shown what a great storyteller she is with this book, and I look forward to reading any and all future books she may write. If you like quick reads that scare you, and all tie in together at the end, this is the book for you. Please give it a shot...and don't let your intrusive thoughts win, unless it's funny

This was a great collection of short stories that will stick with me for a while! You have a retelling of Alice in Wonderland (one of my favorite tales), an evil cat, a creepy Dentist (ugh!), a few "what if I could change my life" tales, and more. Of course, you should always be careful what you wish for, right?

The author has done a good job in creating stories that are well-written, full of creepy moments, and (as the title says) intrusive thoughts. I think that everyone has them from time to time, so this collection just takes those thoughts a bit further. I look forward to more by this new author!

This collection of short stories was a quick, fun read. Though a few stories were much better than the others, all were unique and with good ideas.
There were a lot of unnecessary details in a lot of the stories. Some had scenes that shifted too quickly or the endings were quite abrupt.
However, if you're looking for something new to sink your teeth into and enjoy horror, this collection is a great introduction to the genre.

Intrusive Thoughts
Jennifer Osborn

So I wasn’t intending to leave this book for last to review it was my last read of the month, and I just did all of my reviews in the order that I read them .

This book you can read the stories in any order, but I always like to read stories in order I don’t like to jump around if I had the physical copy I probably would but I read it on my Kindle .

I can’t say enough about this book this book was absolutely amazing. This is hands-down my favorite read of January and I’m glad I ended with this book.

I love books with short stories, and I have to say I loved every single story, except for one of them because I don’t like going to the dentist, however, did not make me give this book less than five stars.

I will say the black rabbit was my favorite story and anyone that knows me would know why, but I don’t wanna give away the story.

I would definitely say if you like short horror stories that are creepy and unsettling you should make this your next read.

Something I've learned about short story collections is that you'll love some stories, and you'll not like others. It's a great reminder not to judge an author by one book you loved or didn't.

There are two stories in here I absolutely adored (16 Bones, for one!), a couple I could have done without, and the others are strong, but sometimes I want more. Not always the author's fault. It is a great mix of 13 different tales!

Jennifer's creativity obviously has no end. I'm really excited to see how this author will continue to walk the path and write some more amazing things for us in the future.

I’ve never been a big fan of short stories, but I’m pretty sure that Jennifer Osborn has changed my mind on that! I love the variety in this collection, as the stories include quite a few different subgenres of horror. Some make me pause and think, others make me laugh with the dark humor, and others make my brain hurt in the best way possible with the twisting and turning. I do think the book could’ve used one more round of proofreading, but none of the errors were egregious enough to pull me out of the stories or enough to make me stop reading. I also really enjoyed the “peek behind the curtain” section of the book where she shared her inspiration for each story. I really look forward to reading future work by Jenn!

Good read with 13 short stories, the last one kind of tying everything together in a way at the end. There was a couple that I didn't care for as much as the others, but I think thats normal for short stories like this. The Wonderland story was my favorite of the thirteen. People who enjoy short horror stories would like this book.

I had been anticipating the release of this book and it.did.NOT.disappoint! It had a creepy factor from beginning to end. These stories had me creeped out at things I had no idea I would be afraid of. OTHER DIMENSIONS IN THE WOODS. WHAT?! A killer who collects human appendages for HIS DOG?! …talk about stranger effing DANGER. My absolute favorite one was the first story. “Intrusive thoughts”. It was so realistic and disturbing. And the ending to this whole crazy adventure was PERFECTION. I can’t wait to see what else this author comes up with in the future. Read this book. Like right now. Read it at night and creep yourself out a little more like I did. Tell all of your friends. Don’t sleep on this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Reigniting my interest in short stories!

Short stories have never really done it for me – they’ve always reminded me of school. However, this anthology by newcomer Jennifer Osborne went a good distance to changing my mind. In many way it reminded me of Stephen King's, Night Shift (which I still remember reading in the early 1980s).

One story in particular stood out for me above the rest. Grandma Edith actually frightened me and I thought that at my age I was far beyond that. That in itself was enough for me to rate this anthology an enthusiastic 4 stars (which I rarely give to first time authors). The authentic portrayal of the young girl harkened back to experiences I had watching films in my childhood like The Changeling (which terrified me). The Bouncy ball and the music box in the story being particular standouts for me. Jennifer completely nailed the portrayal of the small child and the writing felt straight and honest and that’s the kind of writing that generally speaks to me most. The parent’s general cluelessness was perfect.

"Grandma Edith" is a prime example of the author's skill in crafting nightmares from the mundane and everyday occurrences of life.

My only critique and a minor one at that, would be for the author to avoid overused and tired phrases (there aren't many) like "nothing physically wrong" as it tends to pull me out of the story.

I am very interested see what this author writes next. Fingers crossed it will be a full-length novel. Way to go, Jennifer!

Each unique story had me captivated and eager to read on. I struggled to put the book down. Will definitely be on the lookout for more work for Jennifer in the future.
