4.4 out of 5 stars 11 ratings

QUILTED TO DIE (A Grace Gabbiano Mystery, Book 4) (135,512 words)

The annual Coburg Quilt Show might have gone off without a hitch if not for the body wrapped up in the benefit quilt…

Grace Gabbiano left Seattle PD under a dark cloud, but as a sergeant with Coburg PD, she’s put all that behind her. She certainly doesn’t expect her former lover to come asking for help a year later. Chief Aidan Cruz has a short fuse for bad cops, and he’s certain Mackey falls into that category. When Mackey vanishes without explaining himself, Grace realizes the Seattle “thing” has more to it than anyone imagined.

About the Author

Ann Simas lives in Oregon, but she is a Colorado girl at heart, having grown up in the Rocky Mountains. An avid word-lover since childhood, she began to pen her first novel in high school. The author of 22 novels, one short-story collection, and one novella, she particularly enjoys writing books that are a mix of mystery/thriller/suspense, with a love story and paranormal or supernatural elements. In addition to being a three-time Romance Writers of Amer¬ica Golden Heart Finalist, Ann is also an award-winning watercolorist and budding photographer who enjoys needlework and gardening in her spare time. She is her family’s “genealogist” and has been blessed with the opportunity to conduct first-hand research in Italy for both her writing and her family tree. The genealogy research from century’s-old documents, written in Italian, has been a supreme but gratifying and exciting challenge for her.

I eagerly await any new publications from Ann Simas. I especially enjoy her Grace Gabbiano series which is set in Coburg Oregon. I love the characters and the stories that Ann tells. The new book Quilted to Die is entertaining. Meeting the members of the Coburg Police department and Grace's family are like spending time with old friends. If you haven't read any other works by Ann Simas, give them a try. I always learn something while I'm being entertained. Many times when reading a new Ann Simas novel, I stay up late at night reading her books.

Ann Simas has done it again!!
Quilted to Die had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.
I love this series! I feel like the characters are friends. I love that the same characters appear and play a prominent role in every book in the series.
    I HIGHLY recommend this series!!!

Why this series is categorized under 'Cozy' is unbelievable. Despite the goriness and gross foul language dialogue and circumstances the story lines are good and intriguing so I keep reading them and that's' mainly because of the good investigating along with enjoying Grace's large Italian family and the team she works with. I did have a hard time liking Chief Aidan because he can really be a jerk but I'm liking him more as the series progresses. I also have doubts a small town of 1200 people would have such a good sized police force but oh well. This is fiction after all. The main reason for the lower rating other than too much gore and foul language is that whomever is proof-reading/editing is not doing a good job at all since there are lots of errors in every book. Editing can really make or break a good story.

Death threats, crooked cops, sexual tension, dead bodies, crop circles and a cliffhanger all wrapped up in a satisfying thriller!
Can't wait for the next Grace Gabbiano novel!

This had the set up be a great unfortunately it was unfinished. The main story was great. Even the side stories were but unfinished. You absolutely have to have other cases but for goodness sakes tell us how they pan out. Too big too leave hanging unless a cliffhanger. Again spelling errors were horrendous.

I have enjoyed the series, but this last book is FULL of mistakes. Page 172, "He aimed a his best impatient expression at her, indicating her wanted her to hurry up. Page 173 on kindle: "Isn't it possible possible Mackey and Budney got together for a drink?" Those are a sample, there are many more like them. Maybe little things, but they add up to poor editing by someone.
I would still recommend the book because I live in Coburg, but it needs editing work.
