Raven's Last Stand: Raven Tales Book 5 (The Raven Tales) Kindle Edition

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 ratings

The worst is yet ahead for magic tossing PI Bram Farrell, and naturally a new assassin appears to up the ante!
While glad to be back in my preferred version of Detroit – the
real one – there doesn’t seem to be much that stayed the same while I was gone. And, considering I thought I was away for a mere five hectic days and to Naomie and everyone else it clocked in at seven months, that’s saying something.
My last day in fictional Detroit had both friends and enemies vanishing before my eyes, but nearly the same thing had happened to my friends in real Detroit. Durkin and Dawes are no longer cops. Burt no longer drives cabs. City officials closed the Lunds' bar and grill. And worst, my pseudo cousin Delia told Naomie what I really was!
But when has anything involving me rated as
normal? Calie is stockpiling books, her intent to erase me. There’s a mysterious new vampire in town and he’s brought nasty new weapons with him. Palermo is missing and no one’s seen Prisk, though ghouls are everywhere! Plus, there’s a computer virus corrupted with magic that is wiping out any accounts with one of three dangerous words attached to them: Bram, Farrell, and Raven.
I’ve really become a nowhere man now!

J.B. Dane loves writing snarky sleuth heroes. Her regular "crew" includes Bram Farrell (The Raven), Nick Claus, Rip Patterson, and a lot of dragons.

She came to fantasy mystery late, running up a tally of over 30 romance titles as Beth Henderson. Oddly enough, she began reading urban fantasy as a "palate cleanser", thinking she'd never write in the genre. Her muse thought differently and introduced her to a guy she'd first thought up in the late 1980s before she was published. Bram Farrell was still sitting patiently in the waiting room for his turn to become a hero in what would also turn out to be Dane's first series. She's very glad the outdated magazines didn't chase him away.

Love this series of books. Raven is my current book crush. Tons of sarcasm, wit, and weirdness. This book had a great ending. Different from what I was expecting and so cool! So many characters are really coming into their own. Great read!

Enemies abound for Bram with his back against the wall, but he’s not lying down. Can he defeat every attempt to erase his existence or will his last stand end in defeat?

Raven’s Last Stand is another exciting urban fantasy in the Raven series. There is a lot at stake for Bram/Raven which culminates into an epic ending. The world-building is all-encompassing and makes Raven’s Last Stand impossible to put down.

Let’s talk about these characters. Bram/Raven is one of the most imaginative heroes I’ve ever read. He’s written well and readers will connect with him. His emotions propel his actions, and the results are intoxicating to read.

The rest of the characters are vibrant, intriguing, and well-written. Each character brings something special to the story. Even the minor characters are delightful to read.

The descriptive narration and world-building work together to make this story come alive. Each scene is intricately detailed, so the reader is drawn in.

If you love urban fantasy that’s unlike anything you’ve read before, pick up Raven’s Last Stand. You can thank me later.
