Reckless at Westbrook High (The Kingston Brothers #2) Kindle Edition
Never fall, never feel.
Four words I tell myself to protect my heart from the pain I know all too well.
I learned my lesson the hard way.
Promised myself I’d never allow anyone to hurt me the way she did.
Now I’m falling and I can’t seem to stop it.
He’s dangerous.
I’m broken.
He fills the missing pieces until all I feel is him.
And I’m the sucker stupid enough to let him do it.
LEVI
I’ve always wanted what I can’t have.
Family, freedom, love.. him.
I’ve wanted him for as long as I can remember – the broken bad boy with the sad eyes and the tortured heart – but like everything else in my life, it’s not that easy.
His past will tear us apart.
My lies will break us beyond repair.
This love will send us both to an early grave.
Ask me if I give a damn.
Wren Kingston is mine.
And it’s about time he knows it.
This is a full length, dark high school romance with themes some readers might find offensive. While this story can be read as a standalone with a HEA and no cliffhanger, it’s a continuation of the Kingston Brothers series and should be read after Kings of Westbrook High. PLEASE NOTE: This book is M/M. Books 1 & 3 are M/F.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2025Dark and twisty, just how I like them. I really enjoyed this book. I did not read book one, really into the MM, but I just might have to go read it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2022Wren and Levi’s story was intense and darker than the first book.
Levi’s been in love with Wren for as long as he can remember, but he’s been keeping secrets that could destroy them.
Wren’s had his heartbroken, a few times, so he’s numbed the pain however he can. He doesn’t see that Levi has wanted him since they were kids… right when they start exploring this things between them, his past comes back to haunt them.
The longing and chemistry between these 2 is *chefs kiss and make for some great #netherregiontingles
This book has some very dark content, so make sure to check the trigger warning.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2023I actually really liked this. I’m surprised because I swore to myself that I was done with super dramatic high school romances, and this one was dramatic to the max. But I loved this. Although I said this was a high school romance, I ignored the high school part. They really weren’t in school much in this book and it wasn’t mentioned, so I pretended like that wasn’t true. In my eyes this is just a crazy and dark romance.
I didn’t read this first book of the series. I just went straight into this one because you know my love for MM romances, but I wish I would’ve read the first one. It was said that this could be read as a standalone, but I don’t really agree. I kinda figured out what was going on at the end, but I would’ve been way less confused if I knew more of the story from book 1.
Wren and Levi are the love interests of this book, and I loved those dudes. Their love was strong and extremely possessive, which we LOVE. The spice between them was also super dirty. Wren fought his feelings about Levi in the beginning. He didn’t know what was going on with him, since he thought he was straight, so we have a little gay-for-you going on here, but I love that trope. When he stopped fighting it, though? Zoo wee mama.
There was some issues in this book that was building up throughout the story, but you had no idea what was going on. Well, I at least had no idea. I’m not sure if any of it was mentioned in the first book. These issues came to a head at the end, and my poor heart broke for Wren. He’s had so much hurt in his life, and he was dang near unraveling at the end, and it hurt to see.
There was a lot of dark stuff in this book, hence the title “dark romance”. But wowza. It was very traumatic, and my heart hurts for almost every character in the book. Especially Callie. I’m almost tempted to read the first book just because of her because she’s so crazy. And very sweet to the people close to her despite the crap she’s been through. We love a strong woman.
If you’re in the mood for a dark and wack romance, that has bits of possessive and swoony parts, give this a go. I’m gonna have to look more into this author after reading this one. Because wow.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2021Love this author and her writing style but I find the language, scenes, etc too mature for the age group and I'm not naive to think 18 year olds don't speak like this now but I don't think we should play into it.
Also these 17/18 year olds are free to come and go and kill without consequences, a little farfetched I think.
That said this book is as beautiful as the first. I'm still hung up on Callie and Damon so it was great seeing them here.
We get a peek at what was to come in Callie's book when Wren was caught on video with Levi. Here he questions his sexuality until he accepts he has the hots for Levi. Mixed into their romance is his ex girlfriend coming back to blackmail Wren, Levi's cousin also blackmailing them and someone close being the villain.
I think the author could've spent more time on the plot here but I have high hopes for Kai's book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2022How do I even put into words what this book has done? Emotional Damage...in a good way? I'm not sure I'll ever recover from everything that happened in this one. I'm not sure I'm supposed to, and I'm okay with that.
First let me speak on what a twisty plot master this author is. Just when I thought I knew what was going on...my mind blew further with every revalation that happened. My heart breaking with every page I turned. I had to stop and walk away just to calm myself. Yet I couldn't stop until I found out everything.
Now let's get into the characters.
That Freya...oh that wench I wanted to take sharp objects to and watch her suffer. I've never hated a character more. NEVER. EVER... okay maybe Killian Mathews. But this book has created a villain list for me to hate all on its own.
Callie is still the baddest chick ever, and that whole fantasy she has with Damon doing...something I'll refrain from spoiling. EPIC!
We also get a whole new set of crazies like Zane, and Demi. I kinda love them but also not lol.
And Kai...okay I hope the coffee girl gives him hell but not as much. He really earned a deeper part in my soul after what he did for his brother.
Now for the main guys!! Wren! Oh Wren my sweet sweet Wren. Broke my heart so many times, and yet I loved seeing him find his strength to move forward. I've shed a few tears for him, and he'll always be my fave guy in this series. Finally realizing how he feels, and watching him want what he can't have. I love him so so much and glad he gets the happily ever after he so rightfully deserve.
But I think Levi stole the show.
Without spoilers...all I can say is wow. That boy's love for Wren was like no other. What he went through, all his pain. And yet he still was capable of loving the most broken Kingston. I'm in awe of him...and of his promise. My God I literally sobbed when the truth came out. Not to mention how in love he was with Wren. Like damn we all deserve a love like that.
5 😭😭😭😭😭 heart wrenching stars!
Now I just need Kai...so I can know what exactly is in that head of his.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this so much!
“Never forever, Lev,” I mutter, pausing a second to swallow a shot. “Never fall, never feel.”
How the heck do you put into words the emotions in this book, the beautiful connection Lev and Wren have, and how deeply this makes you feel with them as a reader.
There’s so much NA about, but there are so few who can actually pull off believable, relatable, age appropriate angst and characters like this. Trauma, real life experience, emotions, nothing fade to black. It’s hit hard each time.
Love this series so much. It’s well written, and it’s still hard to believe it’s a new author. The characters, storyline, hit you where it hurts once again. I didn’t want it to end. Hated the tears and cried for them both. Absolutely loved these two and could happily read so much more as their relationship develops.
I need more from Ms. Winters! Keep this up, it’s truly dark and beautiful.

3.0 out of 5 stars I don't know 😕
Don't get me wrong, it was nice to read for a big part but was often confused by the way of writing, a lot of times having to go back and forth to understand what's even happening and why.... The characters actions/behaviors/replies made at times no sense at all. The angsty attempt didn't hit as expected or at least not to me. But maybe if I've read book 1 it would've been better . Or maybe there was no weirdness compatibility here. Or maybe I just couldn't manage to feel any kind of emotional connection to the characters

5.0 out of 5 stars Love
I loved Kings of Westbrook High and was eager for Wren's story. It was everything and more. Suspense, intrigue, so much steam and the wonderful Kingston family. Wren struggles with his feelings and Levi struggles with his past but when the come together they are golden. Great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
This is the quickest I’ve read a book in so long.
The storyline completely sucked me in and I just couldn’t get enough.
I love dark, I love high school, I love mm so I knew I was gonna love it but I didn’t realise how much. I fell for the characters in the first book but we got to find out the backgrounds of Levi and Wren and also Levi’s connection to Callie.
There is a bonus scene available to download at the end and all I’m gonna say is DO IT!!
This author's writing is brilliant and I can’t wait to read more from her.
