Recalling My Demon: An MM paranormal romance Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 174 ratings

I'm told Nethermire House is haunted, but the truth is even stranger.

Nethermire is home to an eccentric 80-year-old and the young man she claims is her great-nephew.

Except he's not.

He's a demon.

Brin's chaotic, bratty ways draw me to him. When he calls me Daddy, I'm a goner. I want to protect him, take care of him, and call him mine.

But when he gets summoned to hell, our happiness is shattered.

Can I recall him to my side, or will I lose him forever?

Recalling My Demon is a standalone MM paranormal romance in the Possessive Love multi-author series. It has an age-gap relationship between a bratty demon who needs someone to love him more than he realises and an ex-priest who's now a Daddy.

This book was a good addition to this series and I really enjoyed the characters and the plot line. Good HEA and good story.

This book is just a little bit different. Ian left the priesthood, but not because he lost his faith. He's reconciled the conflict between the church and himself and is satisfied with who he's become.
Brin, however, is not satisfied (I'm not sure he could be satisfied). He's playful menace! Martha has her hands full with him, for sure. Ian is the perfect person to both rile things up and settle them.
Excellent story, but I'd expect nothing less from Colette!

I really enjoy when an author takes a trope or theme and flips it around to give you something unexpected and unique. This book did that for me!
Ian is an ex-priest turned nurse and conned into taking a home care patient that no one else wants - they think that the house is haunted! Brin is the half-demon offspring of a human mother and demon father and he is confined to the house and grounds out of fear for his safety. Other demons are waiting to take him to Hell for the crime of existing and he's never been outside of his home. When he and Ian meet, Brin's innocence and bratty boy attitude spark the protective Daddy in Ian and together they just might be able to find a way to stay together.
I really liked Brin. He's definitely not the stereotypical demon - being as sheltered as he has been - and that gave him an almost sweetness and childlike aura. He's definitely a little bit of a brat, but that just made him all the more interesting. I was a little slower to warm up to Ian - mostly because I thought that the "ex-priest" factor was going to be heavyhanded and overwhelming. It wasn't and I actually found his character to be the perfect balance for Brin.
Colette Davison is a favorite author and I've enjoyed many of her prior books. While this wasn't as angsty as some of her titles, I found it to be very enjoyable and definitely worth the read! Absolutely recommend!

The idea of an ex-priest explaining kink to a demon should be absurd. As an author, Davison is exactly the blend of spicy and sweet necessary to make it adorable instead. The story in this book is the perfect combination of spicy and sweet itself, making for a quick, enjoyable read that left me smiling, even as it packed in a wallop of emotion within the pages.

The supernatural element is immediately obvious, but I still felt eased into it as I was introduced to Ian and his general circumstances. I was already intrigued by Ian’s character and past from the beginning, but Davison slips the pertinent facts in exactly where needed. The full supernatural reveal also happens quickly, but Brin’s character is set up for it to be entirely in form. The overall pacing of this book was fairly fast, but never in a way that felt rushed.

It’s easy to go into paranormal romance, especially for a relationship between a human and a demon, with assumptions in place. I thoroughly enjoyed the flip here of the human character being the much more settled one. Despite the Daddy kink element, there’s very little of a traditional dynamic between them elsewhere. Brin is a brat but doesn’t have a submissive bone in his body. He just wants to be loved for who he is, and isn’t that what we all want in the end?

Disclaimer: I received a digital review copy of this book from the author.

book. I instantly loved Brin, didn't really like Ian right away. There were times that I had to skim the story because it was boring in parts. It was a short read and the sexy times were good. I think if the supernatural element wasn't involved I would have loved this book. That element just didn't work for me for some reason in this book, it seemed hokie to me.

I liked this book. There isn't a ton going on and things don't start happening like 30 minutes before the book wraps up. The things that happen are so easily addressed it's hard to suspend disbelief to enjoy it. I mean the MC Googles and executes the final solution in under 10 minutes. And not 10 book minutes, I mean like 10 minutes of Googling, preparing, executing, and (jazz hands) the problem fixed. Anyway it's short and sweet. I didn't love Brin, he was not so much a brat as an immature, sheltered, child. His fixation with sex was too much at times and it diminished the relationship, which was weird and sudden and not super fulfilling to read about.

Again, I enjoyed it well enough. There was a lot wrong with it but it was still nice to read and I don't regret it.

I loved Recalling My Demon by Colette Davison. It is part of the multi-author series Forbidden Love. I loved Brin and Ian’s story. I loved Brin's bratty and sassy nature. I loved how he wasn't willing to change for anyone. I loved the chemistry between Ian and Brin and I loved their Daddy/boy dynamic.

I read this book using the Kindle Unlimited app.

A sweet and sexy book that’s perfect for Halloween and sure to warm you up! This story is about Ian (an ex-priest turned Daddy) and Brin (a bratty demon Boy) finding each other and then facing the heartbreaking possibility of eternity apart. It’s a fast, fun read, with the heat and heart this author is known for. I haven’t had a chance to read any of the other stories in this multi-author series but I’m looking forward to them and to whatever comes next from Colette Davison.

A super sweet read. Was waiting for a Brin to be taken and dragged back to hell much sooner in the book and thought there would be more of a dilemma to get him back but it was shockingly easy. Other then that it was a super sweet Daddy/boy read.

    MM Haunting or Demon?

Brilliant, not what I was expecting at all, but I truly loved this.

When a carer comes across a demon, how is he to react? Well, that's exactly the situation Ian found himself in.

Easy to read with a paranormal/fun side. Great character definitions. I ended up reading this book from start to finish without putting it down. It's such a great read. I recommend it.
