Taking a work call for my best friend in my undies? Check.

Royally messing it all up until the hot duke-in-waiting I hate but can’t keep my hands off steps in to save me? Uh, check

Yes, yes, that all sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? Until you consider I now have to plan and execute an 80th birthday party for The Dowager Duchess of Devon, and I can’t organise my hairbrushes. The current duchess is the ultimate Type-A personality, determined to micromanage the entire thing.
I’m a type… XYZ...LMNOP… Maybe not even
that.
When all my attempts go to hell in half a handbasket—I can’t even mess up properly—the only hope I have to pull this thing off is duke-in-waiting Hugo Edwards.
The dreamy, handsome, makes-my-heart-pitter-patter, arrogant tosspot Hugo Edwards.
He and his brother are the only people who know who I really am. The success of their grandmother’s party relies on us getting along long enough to make it happen—and me and Hugo keeping our hands off one another behind closed doors.
None of which is easy to achieve.

New York Times & USA Today bestselling author, Emma Hart, has written more than seventy romance novels in the last decade. She loves writing snarky, swoony romcoms with a side of chaos, occasionally venturing into romantic mysteries. Which are exactly the same as her romcoms, just with a dead body or two. That’s the reason for her questionable Internet history—at least that’s the story she’s sticking to.

She lives on a smallholding in North Wales with her husband and their two children, a clowder of very fluffy cats, one giant German Shepherd, and an undisclosed number of chickens and ducks. Don’t ask her to count them. She will not, thank you very much.

When she’s not writing or chasing ducks in her pyjamas, you can find her creating cosy gaming content for her Youtube channel and live streaming on Twitch.

Fun enemies-to-lovers read that will make you fall in love with an entire family
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5STEAM: 🔥.5Sophie has a problem. Newly unemployed, she is on her way to Devon to do her best friend and roommate Camilla a huge favor. Step in as the party planner for the Dowager Duchess of Devon until Camilla can sort out family issues in Norway and get back for the party. Camilla is very organized so that shouldn't be a problem...until the family misunderstood that Sophie is Camilla. Now she needs to navigate through the party planning under a mistaken identity, which is fine -- just fine -- until she locks horns with the future Duke of Devon. Hugo cannot help but be drawn to this sassy event planner, and that creates an even more tangled web than Sophie has anticipated. This book actually started really slow, but once Sophie and Hugo made contact, we were off to the races. Their adversarial tension was just sizzling. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter, and it helped that both parties were incredibly witty.Hugo's family was just adorable, and it made me love this read even more. The magical speech, however, comes from the person you least expect, and I have to admit that it made me tear up. There is nothing like a great touching monologue that grabs at your heart. And when it takes hold, you know you have fallen under the book's spell. For those looking for spice, this read was light, but it does not take away from the deep connection between Sophie and Hugo. I guarantee that you will fall in love with them and the rest of the Devon household just like I did.

It takes a bit to get going. Give it a couple of chapters and then you will not want to stop reading.
Sophie is a mess, but it's self aware. Mostly, she is kind if a bit abrasive. Hugo likes to bicker, he's kind but wants a challenge.
Through happenstance that only a romance novel could contrive Sophie finds herself doing work she is not qualified to do for Hugo's mother who seems to only want things her way.
This is a closed door romance so if you're looking for naughty stuff instead of a good story this author has other books that will suit, so you can have both.

Right Number, Wrong Girl is another miscommunication/wrong identity trope… with a twist. This is a good story with a “royalty” storyline while she is the event planner. Twist is, she’s not an event planner… her roommate is. Before she can correct anyone of the mistake she’s thrown into the fire. Luckily, the male MC knows of her true identity and understands the situation and works to help her plan the party. The best part of this is the grandmother. She doesn’t want a party, she’s snarky, sassy, and everything you love in a side character.

Right Number, Wrong Girl is a perfect frothy rom-com. I would definitely watch this as a movie (frankly, we need more rom-coms!) I love Sophie and her sense of humor and her innate goodness. Hugo is so endearing. All the side characters are well-drawn and so fun to read, especially Grandma Evelyn. I want to be her when I grow up. A great read that would be a perfect beach read this summer.

    - I love Sophie, probably because I can relate to her so well. I didn’t quite like the premise of faking to be Camilla - but maybe I don’t understand the whole party planning business. It was pretty easy to get past when the chemistry with Hugo was on tap, though.

So much to take for poor Sophie. She really has a heart of gold, ready to sacrifice, ready to love and ready to forgive even as she goes through heart-tearing humiliation, misery, and heartbreak. But she is also brave, fiery, and stands up for what is right. Brilliant character.

Poor Hugo too, for being under constraints as he deals with being the heir to dukedom even as he loves Sophie.

Evelyn is handful and so is Anna. But the beauty of this book is that every character has a good side that is also accepted and acknowledged by the adversary. I really loved that part.

Beautiful characters, funny repartees, and fun read.

This was a fun and easy going read. A really awkward situation that Sophie found herself in yet she managed to make the best of, with all the best intentions at heart. I loved her interactions with Grandma, they had me cracking up. Most of the characters were quite good with the exception of one or two. I enjoyed this breezy read and the outcomes of the story. Would recommend.

    3.0 out of 5 stars I liked it but…
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 31, 2024
This was a hard review to write. I am conflicted. I enjoyed it, I liked the characters and it was well written but Sophie seemed so angry all of the time. The enemies to lover trope started really well, as you’d expect, but they never seemed to stop being enemies? Sophie would be so annoyed and disgusted with Hugo in one sentence and then declare her love in the next. The banter was brilliant and I laughed out loud in parts, I love a sassy and sarcastic heroine but I think ultimately there was just too much of it. Hugo and Sophie were always bickering, I couldn’t feel the romance and it was hard to believe Sophie actually liked him. This could have so easily have been 5 stars.
