- Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2017Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseWow! What an incredibly enjoyable read this was. It was an easy book to follow along with. Unlike many science fiction books that get too verbose, this book is immensely entertaining and the characters are very easy to relate to which makes the experience so much more interesting and personal from the the reader's perspective. The author has a great imagination and wonderful vision, as I've never watched or read a plot quite like the one in Stone Soldiers.
I cannot wait for the Part 2 of the series to come out.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2018Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis book has the advantage of being clearly written, and without typos (something of definite importance to me). There are several issues, however. The characters are not as well developed as they might be; after a full book, I'm still not feeling close, or particularly wanting to root for, them. Also, there are a couple of points that had me wondering about the logistics thereof (spoiler: i.e. there not being more questioning into the disappearance of five people from the same apartment building, and the fact that many of the various alien life forms seem to have inexplicably human characteristics). The main issue, for me, is that there is more attention paid to technological details than to anything else. It's fascinating to know how a translating device works for some, perhaps, but for me it's enough to know that it does, and let's get on with the story. For those science fiction fans who enjoy such detail (and there are many of you out there) I heartily recommend this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseConverse has a way with storytelling that flows from his imagination to readers. Some book in this genre can be too difficult to get into. Yet, Stone Soldiers is an adventure we can all enjoy from page one. The characters are engaging, the setting detailed, and the plot interesting. While the story is a fine read, I want to mention that Converse definitely is generating a readership that he cares very much about. You can tweet to him on Twitter; I follow him (he is a super approachable writer). I look forward to his next book!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2018Format: KindleVerified Purchase“Rajani Chronicles I” by Brian S. Converse has a unique premise: stones that bring powers from within. This space opera has intriguing characters, abundant plot twists, and humor; it’s a creative page-turner. I particularly enjoyed the interstellar space station and seeing how each character evolves from a difficult past. I’m looking forward to the sequels!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAlthough I enjoyed it, there was no resolution of any kind. This isn't the first book in a series. This is the first part of a single story.
