Rate A Date (Dating Series Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 787 ratings

From New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy comes a flirty, fun romance featuring a sweet hairstylist and the sexy pro football player she meets on a dating app...

Eleanor Murray is tired.

Tired of going on awkward dates. Tired of meeting men who just aren’t that into her. Tired of being set up on blind dates by her well-meaning friends.

She is a believer of true love, of finding that happily ever after, and she wants it. She deserves it. But at the rate she’s going, she’s pretty sure it’s never going to happen.

Until a friend creates a profile for Eleanor on a new dating app. At first, she’s reluctant. Dating apps aren’t the way to finding true love, are they? But then she makes a connection on Rate a Date, and this gorgeous, confident guy almost seems too good to be true…

Mitch Anderson has a secret.

He’s just moved to Las Vegas for his high profile job and after years of playing the field, he’s looking for a serious relationship. He wants to find a woman who likes him for who he is, not what he does. Meeting Eleanor on the dating app, he’s intrigued. Meeting her in real life while she’s in town for a bachelorette weekend, he completely falls for her. Now he’s in way over his head.

Their chemistry is combustible. They can’t keep their hands off each other. But will Eleanor forgive him when she finds out who he really is?

The Dating series are standalone romances with interconnecting characters. Each novel completely stands alone (no cliffhangers!) and can be read in any order, but you'll enjoy reading them as a series!

Rate a Date is hands down my favorite book in the Dating series! I’ve read all of the others, and I loved them, but Eleanor and Mitch have taken the top spot!

Eleanor wants a relationship, she’s tired of awkward dates and men who just aren’t interested in going the distance. When one of her friends creates of profile on a dating app for her, she is hesitant to say the least. But when she connects with Mitch Anderson, all that reluctance flies out the window. Mitch is gorgeous, and such a nice guy. Eleanor can’t help but be attracted to him. As she gets to know him, she fears that Mitch may be too good to be true.

Mitch Anderson has been playing the field for most of his adult life. He’s looking for something more, the problem is (or so he thinks) is his high profile job that makes it hard to find a good woman. When he matches with Eleanor, she is everything he wants. The problem is, he’s hiding something major from her. When the truth finally comes out, will Eleanor be able to forgive him?

Love, love, love this story. I feel like it had a little more steam then the previous books in this series, and I am here for it! From start to finish I didn’t want to put this book down. I wanted to know what was going to happen for Eleanor and Mitch. I also really love that we still get to read updates on the couples from the previous books in the series, and how Monica sets us up for the next book! Even though this book can be read as a stand-alone, I really recommend reading the previous stories, just because I think it adds so much more to the story!

Rate a Date is such a cute fabulous read. I love Eleanor and Mitch. They are both tired of being alone and there is something about them that just clicks so easily. Eleanor is sweet, awkward and I just love how she comes alive when it comes to Mitch. He brings out the best in Eleanor. You feel his struggle over his secret he keeps from her. Mitch is so swoon-worthy. The chemistry is red hot and they will have you fanning yourself at times. There are plenty of giggle moments and happy tears will flow too. I adore this book so much. Mitch and Eleanor just stole my heart. I can't wait for the next book in the Dating series.

This is the first book by Monica that I have read, and I am here to say that it most definitely will not be my last. I absolutely loved this swoon inducing romance, that will leave you with a huge smile on your face and a lightness to your heart! You won’t be able to stop yourself from falling in love with Mitch and Eleanor.

“𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙮 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙.”

Eleanor is the romantic of her friends’ group, she wants the whole package swoons and all. But she has terrible taste in men and has had a bad luck streak happening for quite some time. Insert her friend who unbeknownst to Eleanor signed her up for the app. The goal was to double date with her friend but in the end, she found Mitch instead. I loved Eleanor she is just an overall really sweet person just looking for something more substantial and lifelong. I appreciated that she had her own set of quirks and this completely endearing awkwardness that made appearances throughout, it had me connecting to her on a deeper level. I also liked how being with Mitch opened her up in ways she had never thought possible. It really showed their connection on a more intimate level.

𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙪𝙥 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙮.

I loved Mitch, he is the perfect combination of Cocky arrogance and sweet sensibilities. He’s the guy that will command you in the bedroom but still remember to take care of you on an emotional level. This dichotomy of his personality was my favorite part about him. I couldn’t help but fall for his dirty mouth and sexy ways. But also the way he worried and cared for Eleanor. (Insert all the swooning). Mitch is this big-time football player with the Raiders and he is just looking for someone to love him for him and not what his fame can give them. Hence, the dating app.

Monica has struck gold with Mitch and Eleanor. Their connection and passion pour from the pages, leaving you utterly breathless and desperate for more. I could not get enough of this Romantic Comedy that had me laughing out loud but also all kinds of twisted up with the passion that drips from this book. I can’t wait to see what Monica brings next in the delightful series!

Dating is hard but faking a profile on an app is kinda hard to deal with. Mitch is going to have a big issue when Eleanor discovers this. But let's start in the beginning.
Eleanor and Mitch are having trouble in finding love so they decide to sign up for a dating app. What can go wrong? Well, let me tell you. Faking your name in your profile is definitely a big NO-NO. Mitch should not have done that but I understand why he did it since he wants actual love. It's going to be a bit tricky when he finds an insane chemistry with Eleanor.
Eleanor has been through the ringer when it comes to dating so she has had it but she ultimately believes in love so she is kinda willing to try something new. It may be a bit more trouble than she can handle when she meets Mitch. He is definitely perfect for her but he is hiding a big secret. Once it is revealed, she will need to decide if love is worth or not.
Love is a tricky thing. Sometimes it is worth it but sometimes you lose. It always depends on you.

I wanted to like this book, but I just didn’t. There was nothing overtly bad about. Unfortunately, there was some intangible quality that kept me on edge (and not in a good way) and prevented me from relaxing into the book. Something always came up that made me resist the story, be it a character I thought sounded like a jerk or a behaviour that I just couldn’t get on board with.

This was my first book by this author. If you have liked her previous work, you might well like this one. Perhaps it’s a stylistic preference. Regrettably, I disliked this book enough that I don’t plan on exploring this author’s other works.

Just a note. I was enjoying the story until I realized that Mitch's back story about his family changed. In one part his mom moved himself and his brother around a lot until they moved in with his grandparents and in the next part he has a sister who has kids and his parts were encouraging him with his education.
