Reaching Roland (Honey-Do Daddies Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 546 ratings

Roland

Kenny’s outgoing and fun, and he makes me want to do more than my normal rinse, repeat.

I know Kenny’s only teasing me when he calls me Daddy, since I’m obviously too old, too straight, and my wife was my one true love. But there’s something about him that pulls out all of my protective instincts and makes me want to take care of him. As brightly as he shines, there’s a loneliness lurking under the surface that I long to… What? I’m not even sure, but I’m positive that I can’t walk away from my new…friend.

Kenny

Being the focus of Roland’s attention makes those stupid butterflies flutter around in my stomach.

My attraction for the absolute wrong men is why I’ve given up on dating. Roland’s straight and lonely, but for whatever reason, he enjoys my company. He’s also a caretaker, and it’s nice to feel so special. His life is changing and exciting things are on his horizon, so he won’t have time for me for long, but in the meantime, I’m going to enjoy the fact that I seem to be Reaching Roland.

Welcome to the Honey-Do Daddies in the Takoda Universe. Reaching Roland is an age-gap, bi-awakening story where there’s an abundance of family—by blood and found—love, and Daddies and their boys ready to make some big changes and transform their lives.

Please Be Kind To Yourself: This book speaks often about the loss of a spouse, and there are mentions of a teenage suicide. If either of these will interfere with your mental health, please pass it on by.

Sammi Cee was raised in a family of readers. Summer vacations consisted of a good book while sitting lakeside from as far back as she could remember. After growing up and having her own children, her appreciation of how the written word could transport you on an adventure, bring you to tears, or give you hope, took on a whole new meaning.

These days Sammi is watching her children develop into fine young ladies while doing the things she enjoys most: drinking coffee, eating chocolate, and writing her own stories.

I really enjoyed this book between a grieving widower and Takoda’s premier colorist. It was fun watching the two figure out that they were indeed daddy and boy, and seeing them embrace their new love was heartwarming. It was also nice to catch up with a few old friends, and I look forward to more Honey-Do Daddies!

You can't help to fall in love with this two men and wonder when Roland is going to figure out that he's not so straight.
Roland is a hot silver fox who had his one true love and believes he's straight until he meets Kenny younger man who's a lollipop sucking hair stylish. Kenny helps Roland come back to life and start living again and going out more to do fun things again. Roland starts to sees Kenny and see what a wonderful man he is and both men are having fun together.

Everyone knew before they did. Neither man thought his feelings would be returned. I loved the son sitting his father down for "the talk".

It’s started out so well then I don’t know what happened. I’m a little bummed at the out come of this book. I was so excited for Roland. And the way him and Kenny were together was amazing. The problem? Too many other people.
I love a good found family book. It’s one of my favorite troupes, but this one, I was over it quickly. I feel like this was more Indie’s book than it was Roland and Kenny’s book. Which Indie already had a book. If he was going to take up that much real estate why not give him a second book instead. We didn’t get to smexy time between the two until the end because Indie hogged most of the book and it was disappointing. The I love yous were rush and then we are back again talking about Indie. This book could have been so much more than what it was unfortunately. The writing was good though. This is the first book of the series so I’m hoping there will be diversity. I thought Kenny was a person of color until he was described as not another let down. We’ll see where this series goes.

Cameron was the last Love On Tap. He was a daddy, not a boy. It was cool to get to know his sexy dad. Loved this story. I hope Toby & crew make more appearances.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely Daddy read

I really enjoyed this book. Kenny is adorable and Roland makes a great unsuspecting daddy. Their story is low angst and flows along nicely. It was lovely to visit the Takoda universe again catch up with all the characters. This book is also easily read as a standalone.

3.0 out of 5 stars I like the cover
Reviewed in Canada on January 23, 2025
The story is lower angst, which is also something I enjoy, I think it’s challenging for an author to create a fulfilling and engaging story without relying heavily on an ott plot device, or strident villainy and instead manages to involve us in the complexity of the relationship and the dynamic of it , to immerse us and keep us invested.
I enjoyed the story overall. I like themes of ‘ found family’, and I love a good age gap love story.
A minor issue ( for me ) was feeling that Kenny was a little immature for a 35 year old man. The 16 year age gap is mentioned, and Roland reveals that he is 51 in one of the chapters, but Kenny’s behaviour felt more aligned with that of a younger twenty something, than a man in his mid thirties. The overall feel of this book, for me, was a little choppy. I did like the ‘ slow burn/bi awakening’.
