Rebecca Sharp always loved a good love story. Let's face it, when you include a romance novel on your 8th grade summer reading list just to see if the teacher would notice (she didn't!), she was bound to give writing one of her own a go. There's really no corner of romance that she doesn't (or wouldn't) enjoy writing, except maybe aliens, much to her husband's dismay, so her large catalog features a little something for everyone. However, her love of shows like NCIS and Criminal Minds makes her favorite stories to write the ones with some kind of suspense and crime solving.

When she's not writing, she's at her office treating patients, and somewhere between those two things, you'll find her wandering the globe with her husband always searching for their next adventure.

    Gunner is the playboy of the Reynolds brothers, the guy who only hooks up with tourists. He did -- or thought he did -- when a sassy young woman caught his fancy for a one night stand. No names are exchanged and she jets back to Miami the next morning. Well she ends up being Della Bolden, the daughter of their best customer, Mark Bolden.

    4 months later, Gunner is hired to guard Bolden's daughter, who is returning to live in their small Wyoming town near Jackson. It's his one night stand! He is under orders not to tell her he is her 24x7 bodyguard, so he is pretending to be a contractor on the rebuild of Della's hotel. Oh, and Della is pregnant with Gunner's baby.

    Daddy doesn't know the bodyguard is the baby daddy. Della doesn't know Gunner is her bodyguard. And her dad has serious control issues. Gunner is a caring, empathetic guy underneath his playboy facade. Della is justifiably frustrated with her dad for routinely hiding things from her. She longs for her independence, something Gunner understands. Gunner wants to tell Della everything but Her Dad threatens to fire him.

    There is danger and misunderstanding brought by Gunner being caught between a rock and a hard place. This is somewhat of a slow burn, but wow, it makes up for it. I really felt for both Gunner and Della.

    .. I’ve read quite a few romantic suspense novels over the past few years. And I feel like this series is really missing the mark. I loved Archer’s book, but both Hunter and Gunner fell flat for me. Everyone talks about Ranger’s book so I’ve been reading the series before I dive into Ranger. But this plot moved way too fast and there were things that didn’t really make sense. Like when Gunner finally told Della about the letters but then somehow still didn’t tell her he was hired as a protector??? Or when you find out who the bad guy actually is even though he wasn’t on page at all throughout the book and wasn’t even mentioned as a character until the final chapters.

    I really would have loved to have seen more development regarding Gunner and Della’s relationship. Their whole relationship felt off and odd to me. And rushed. I think there definitely could have been a lot more character development to all the characters here.

Not a fan of the whole playboy persona, so very glad RS didn't focus on that but rather what Della and Gunner built together whilst both coming out stronger and being each others support. Another great story, I love everything Rebecca Sharp and this is no exception.
