Rebel (Operation Justice Force Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 1,154 ratings

One man on a journey of redemption and the other out to prove himself.

Cohen “Ace” Gray – Pegasus Commander.
He’d buried one lover; he wasn’t going to take the chance of that ever happening again. Ace had his own demons to work on, but working closely with Jacob and having his friendship— despite their twenty-year age difference—had made life a bit easier. The void that Jacob left ate at him and burned into his brain, making him think that he might have made the biggest mistake of his life turning Jacob away.

Jacob Burns – Techie specialist, skilled in combat, expert at weapons. He never dreamed it would be this hard to cut the apron strings from his three dads. He got it. They lived a brutal life and dealt with the scum that hovered in the darkest part of society. What they didn’t fully understand was that he’d watched and learned from them, and he would leave his mark on this world. Ace and his dads thought he didn’t have what it took to be an operative.

They were so damned wrong.

One job.
One chance encounter.
When an unexpected meeting happens, both men are left stunned.

Then, shit gets all twisted up.

After finishing Honor, I knew I wanted to dive right into Ace and Jacob’s story and thanks to Tantor, I did just that. There was SO much I wanted to know about these two after the hints in Honor. Let me just say, this book did not disappoint. While the tension between Ace and Jacob runs hot, they both struggled so much to find a way forward. Ace’s past haunts him and leaves him emotionally cut off while Jacob fights to come into his own and out from his fathers’ shadows. While both men love each other deeply, it never seems to be their time. Rebel begins with the men apart. Ace pushed Jacob away so Jacob left Pegasus and Ace behind.

Ace and Jacob were a team who worked seamlessly together to lead the guys of Pegasus on their missions. After a bombing left them both injured and their feelings for one another came out in the open, Jacob left Pegasus. Ace buried a lover years ago and he has guarded his heart behind high walls ever since, but with Jacob gone Ace begins to realize he made a huge mistake. Jacob, wanting to be free of his old life and his 3 fathers’ influence, charted his own course and became the operative no one realized he could be. On a job, Jacob and Ace’s paths cross unexpectedly giving them a much needed second chance.

I really loved how the way forward for these two men was interwoven with a very action packed and suspenseful storyline. Despite the heaviness of the storyline, Rebel is actually not as angst filled as you’d think. There is a lot of feeling, but also action that keeps the storyline moving. This story was enjoyable from start to finish. Once again, Declan Winters masterfully brought the story to life and a unique voice to each of the many characters. And of course, Reese ended Rebel and left me wanting more from her team of guys. I can’t wait for the next in this series.

Ace and Jacob's story was worth the wait. The tension between these two have been teased with readers in the previous books. Jacob is all grown up and has come along way since the story of his dads who are part of Phoenix another operative group. Ace was his boss but at Pegasus but he left when he saw no future with him there anymore. Ace wants Jacob but the past gets in his way. Their story unfolds in a way that keeps you guessing. It would be best if the rest of the series was read first and a bigger bonus if you read the other series by Reese Knightley. The characters drop in during the series as they have a common goal of bringing down the bad guys. If you are looking for ex military/law enforcement, highly skilled operatives or task force type books with lots of action, plenty of steam and guaranteed HEA for MM MC's then then you can't go wrong with this author because she writes some of the best.

So glad to see Jacob finally get his HEA after first meeting him in Phoenix series. Ace and Jacob were perfect for each other! Always love seeing all the guys together!

This story revolves around an older man and a younger man who worked closely together and fell in love. Ace is the commander of Pegasus and Jacob is their tech. He was raised by three of the top men in Phoenix who was over protective. Ace had lost the love of his life five years previously and was afraid to take another chance on a younger man. But Jacob was to prove himself to Ace and his dads that he was no longer a kid but a grown man and he wanted to be treated as such. Reese stories never disappoint and I like how the men of Pegasus and Phoenix interconnect when they are fighting human trafficking, drug trafficking an terrorism. Men who find love as the continue to protect their love ones, community and their country. I highly recommend this book and all the books in the various series.

This series is so good, I love that everyone have a different story, but are all tied together in the series. That's such a unique way of writing. I can't put this series down either, and it ties so well with the justice series too. I can't wait for the next book.

Definitely too darn short!!! With guns blazing and love on the front lines this story has everything! Reese did a fantastic job as usual but I need much more Justice Force! Guess I will just have to do a reread on all these bad boys!! No hardship as far as I can see!

ACE holding his heart behavior nd an open triple wall is going to prevent him from finding his happiness or home. Jacob has found his one but getting him to let him in, could collapse on one of them. How can we make sure that you don't self destruct. High pressure military like operations puts the pressure of life and death on the line. Timing a ticking - will secrets reveal? MM romance.

This book was a long time coming and was worth the wait. Ace and Jacob danced around each other for too long. Jacob had to leave for Ace to wake up. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Commander Ace and Jacob have issues but Ace finally gets through his sorrow over Shane’s passing and finds that he is able to let it go and love the much younger Jacob with a full heart.
What is frazzling for the reader is tracking 29 names (not including the dog) in the first 39 pages, and by the end, many more have been added. A list at the beginning would be so helpful. Please.
Aside from the many fighting groups, the centre of the book gets dragged down with the mystery of Seven and plot lines which are too thinly described. We are about two thirds of the way through when the pace picks up. Even then we don’t find out much about the enemy’s operations. There is some good humour, always appreciated, and of course, a happy ending.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this story

Love this Author. This book was really entertaining. Jacob I loved as he was only 22 but he was mature in a good way and his personality never changed. Ace was a nice character and tbey were good together.
Loved all the other characters showing up.
What is annoying about these stories is the hint of other relationships Seven/Hunter Link/Eagle Owen/Jordan Creed/Kullen (sorry not spelt right), so your just hanging to read them especially next one and Link/Eagle. Oh well the wait is on.

3.0 out of 5 stars where’s the romance?
Reviewed in Canada on October 27, 2022
Overall the book was an okay read but, like the previous books in this series, I was disappointed. The writing is very different from Code of Honor and Out for Justice series and not in a good way. An enormous amount of characters to keep track of and only one sexy scene that felt rushed. I didn’t feel the romance in this book at all.
