Rebuilding Friendship Inn (Five Island Cove Book 8) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 920 ratings

Clara Tanner has lost it all. Her husband is accused in one of the biggest heists on the East Coast, and she relocates her family to Five Island Cove–the hometown she hates.

Her mother and brother live there, though Clara never dreamed she'd be returning to the cove. Not only does she find them waiting for her with open arms, but all of the women in her mother's circle are welcoming too.

Clara and Scott have bought Friendship Inn, a hulking, close-to-condemned building with one hundred fifteen rooms. Neither of them want to run an inn, but with limited options, Clara rolls up her sleeves and digs in.

Alice and Robin are dealing with their oldest children going off to college while AJ is celebrating her son's first birthday. Jean enjoys her Seafaring Girls, and Eloise is having the summer of a lifetime with her new family and busy season at the inn.

As Laurel's due date for her first baby approaches, Kelli learns something she never thought would happen to her, all while Kristen is becoming friendlier and friendlier with a new gentleman in her fifty-five-plus community.

Clara needs all of their help and support in order to rebuild Friendship Inn, and as all the women pitch in, there's so much more getting fixed up, put in place, and restored.

Then a single phone call changes everything.

Will these women in Five Island Cove rally around one another as they've been doing? Or will this finally be the thing that breaks them?

I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series! This book takes us deeper into the complex lives of this group of people, mostly Clara and Jean, who have been back ground characters in the previous books. I love how reading these books feels almost like I've gone back to the cove for a visit with great friends!

This was a nice story about women, friendships, and all the personality quirks that we bring to relationships. It showed the power of community. One criticism was the crazy amount of characters with no context clues to place them. The book needs a flowchart! I created one because I had to keep going back to try to figure out who different characters were, who they were married to, who their kids were, etc. That part was annoying.

Wow! Another great book - all the characters come to life so vividly! Jessie Newton is a true artist in her story telling! I’ve read all the Five Island Cove books and just pre-ordered The Glass Dolphin - just bummed it’s not out until almost a year from now - August 1, 2023 !

The first book I read of this series left me hungry for more. This one certainly has more – more characters than I can keep track of, more errors than the first one I read, more desire to just finish it, because I’m not one to quit a book unless it’s really bad.

So many many characters its kind o hard to keep a good flow going. I haven't read the full series. I read the first one or i would be lost. I have enjoyed the one i have read.

So many times with a series the magic and excitement of the characters gets lost. That's not the case here. It seems that with each book you get to love these women even more! We meet a few new ladies here and I'll admit that I get them confused but the little added details from the author help to keep the reader straight. I do love this series! I will be fair and say that it seems like there are always one or two typos in one of the last chapters but I also purchase right away so these have probably been corrected.

Just like the rest of the books in the "Five Island Cove" series, I loved this book, and cannot wait for #9, The Glass Dolphin.
Starting each book has been like pulling on a favourite old sweater, and making new friends along the way. I feel as if I have grown up with these women and feel their pain and joy, I definitely miss them when I reach the end of each book and long for the next in the series. Any chance The Glass Dolphin may come out a bit sooner??? 😂😂

I have really enjoyed this series but there are a couple of loose ends I'd like to see fixed. The book was called Rebuilding Friendship Inn but it never got finished. Who bought it and did it ever get restored. Did Clara get her money back and where did it come from anyway? That part fell flat. However, the biggest problem I have while reading all these stories is that there are so many typos (13) in this book alone. There are just as many in all the other books, so the proofreader is not doing a very good job. Perhaps the next book will have more accuracy. Looking forward to reading the next episode. 😇
