Red Angel: A Dystopian Science Fiction (5th City Chronicles Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 13 ratings

The Red Angel is a symbol of hope to the subjugated people of Earth.

But Jaisa, the real woman behind the angel propaganda, is herself enslaved.

She lives in the upper strata of the aliens’ false utopia, but she’s subject to the whims of the “husband” who bought her. Secretly, she’s helping a group of rebels work toward freedom. With the Angel alongside the Warrior, the Valkyrie, and the Artist, the rebellion finally has the leaders it needs to rise up against the untouchable invaders.

They have a plan, they just need an opportunity.
But Jaisa’s running out of time.

Her husband has created a serum that will solve all the aliens’ problems and destroy the rebellion for good… by removing everyone’s memories of the world before. Without recalling the old world or her secret rebellions, Jaisa will no longer be pretending—she’ll become the perfect little doll, and forget what it means to be human at all.

Read it now! The final book in 5th City Chronicles and find out the fate of humanity.

Hi. My name is Jesse and I’m a compulsive writer.

I can’t help it. I write prolifically. I write because I must! And luckily for you, my dear reader, the stories never stop.

What do I write?

I write fantasy because the world we live in can feel like a trap.

I write sci-fi because I like to toy with worlds, universes, and cultures. I like to play god. I write horror as a kind of decadence. I mean, who doesn’t like writing that bleeds?

Regardless of what type of speculative fiction I write, you can expect that it will be dark. Whether my inspiration comes from a shiver crawling up my spine while darting across a dark parking lot, a fascination with Gothic heroines and their delightful kidnappability, or a desire to build a world to suit a spiffy MMO character, that dark undercurrent of fear makes me feel alive.

So, if you enjoy science fiction and fantasy with an eye to horror, join my readers group at JesseSprague.com.

I’d love to have you along for special sneak-peeks, cover reveals, free stories, and more! Just to show how special you are to me, I’ll start you off with an exclusive short story!

Well, just when you thought it was safe and things were starting to look up for Jaisa, the rug gets pulled from under your feet. I should know better! But this book takes you on a mother heart-pounding ride. This story feels like it’s picking up even more while most series, in my opinion, start to sag by book 3. Not so with this! It feels like the adventure is about to really take off! Like a rollercoaster when you think it’s going to end soon and you’re sad to get off the ride, but then takes off AGAIN, twisting in a way you didn’t expect, the thrill is back again!

This is as good as the first two and I can't wait to see where the author takes the story.

The Red Angel is everything I expected from a Jesse Sprague book and more. The rebellion faces their most dangerous task yet: freeing the Earth from the alien gods that invaded the planet and changed everything about the sky, the governments, the society--but not humanity.

Every character in this--Jaisa, Naeemah, Connor, Tavar, Eo--is whip-smart. The Companions play a dangerous game with high stakes, and yet still find time to do the most important of human actions: to love.

I received an ARC and binged it. I was so wrapped up in it, when the book came to its inevitable and powerful conclusion, I was holding my breath. The ending is superb; what a perfect ending to the trio, and some of Sprague’s most powerful writing yet.

The secrets that are revealed in this text--secrets which started from the first book in the series and carried through the second and third--were mind-boggling in how they ALL came back to the fore in this last installment. I learned everything I wanted to know about these characters, and yet I would love to read more. Their story is not yet finished, but I am satisfied with the ending.

Thank you, Jesse, for the opportunity to read this work.

In a series that begins after the alien invaders have already won, what does a happy ending look like? Probably something like this... which is almost everything I wanted, but throws in an ending that really surprised me!

Jaisa takes more active steps to actually join the rebellion against the aliens, or what remains of them after Eo found them last book. Neriso remains as devious as ever, the kind of villain I love to hate. We get to hear from Connor and Nae and Tavar, and the meeting between Jaisa and the rebels face to face is only one of the surprises. But we also get a lot of emotional closure, so that it reads like a trilogy, but launches the plot for the next book.

While many trilogies get less interesting with each book, the opposite is true for this series. The story held my attention and I was completely surprised by the twists. Great book!
