Red Heart Card (Manchester Athletic Book 6) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 148 ratings

Jude Whittingham didn’t expect his football season would be spent in the stands recovering from injury. With rest and rehab his primary focus, Jude finds his mind is becoming as messed up as his Achilles tendon. It doesn’t help that Neva, one of his many ex-girlfriends, and the team’s nutritionist, has now been assigned to his case.

Neva has more to worry about than dealing with Jude. After a series of disastrous dates and time-wasting relationships, her hope of having a baby is fading. Neva's problem – no one has passed the audition phase or come close to being father material. Well, since Jude.

When a family seems to be out of reach for Neva, not only does Jude find out about her baby dream, but he also offers to help her out. Neva can’t think of a practical reason to say no, apart from the fact that their past should probably be left exactly there.

Jude might be able to give her a baby, but just because he can, does it mean she should?

BOOKWORM REVIEW: Red Heart Card by Annie Dyer
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 SPICE: 🔥🔥🔥 When a younger hot soccer star with whom one has serious chemistry offers his baby daddy services, what is a woman to do? Neva faced this dilemma after combing through so many candidates to fulfill what she feels like a missing piece from her life. Her former beau Jude Whittingham seems to be the only person who currently fits the bill, and she hesitantly agrees only under the condition that they leave any feelings or attachment out of it. Oh, you sweet summer child. This was a fun read to get one hyped for the fall soccer (or football for my non-American friends) season. I love Jude and Neva's connection, and while this is my first read in the series, it seems like Jude is implied to have undergone this arc that has Neva reconsidering their relationship. I am always here for a reverse age-gap romance, and Annie Dyer delivered on the chemistry and spice between our main characters. We also get a beautiful depth to the development as individuals and as a couple that I really enjoyed. This is the fifth book in the series, but it did really well as a standalone. This was such an enjoyable read that I cannot wait to go back to the previous books.

So excited for the next book of the Manchester Athletic series to come out, and was super happy to see that this book was based on Jude and Neva’s story. I was rooting for them in an earlier book, but they were only side characters at that point. Don’t worry, this story can be read as a stand alone without issue.

While they had a bit of history, Neva believed that Jude was too young for her and tried to stay in her lane as the team nutritionist, and helping to find foods that would assist in the healing process of Jude’s injury so that he could play again. Jude however, only has eyes for Neva, and while trying to respect her boundaries (while pushing them a bit as well when no one was around!), he did his best to gain and keep her attention after learning that she wanted a baby, and proposed being the donor that she needed.

Fun story with all of the witticisms that we’ve come to expect from this author, as well as the nods to other characters that we’ve read about. 100% HEA and a must read (even if you are not a sports enthusiast).

I was excited to return to the world of football (soccer). We knew there was a backstory with Jude and Neva. At least we as readers suspected there was. I’m not typically an age gap fan so I just change ages in my head. It works for me. Don’t judge.
It was nice to see a maturity to Jude in this book. I feel like we’ve been watching him grow up. He probably has the biggest growth character wise in the whole series. So far anyway. Neva even relaxes more in this story. She’s been pretty strict with just about everyone in her life up till this point.
Overall, I enjoyed their story, and it left me wanting more in the future. I can’t wait for Genny to get a book.

This book read really fast. It was refreshing after the last book I had read, and the characters liked each other from the beginning, which is very different from the troupes I usually read. Jude was super sweet and caring from the beginning and Neva was stubborn, but never in a way that was disrespectful.

There was never a they break up and get back together storyline, just a waiting for one another to figure it all out together storyline. Loved how it progressed with the children and years to get a clear picture of their lives together. Spicy bits sprinkled throughout. It was a great rainy day or beach read.

I’ll definitely check this author out again.

This was my first book by Annie Dyer and I really enjoyed Neva and Jude’s story. Reverse age gaps are always a favorite troupe of mine. The supporting characters were great too. I’m definitely going to go back and read the rest of this series least and properly even deeper into her back catalogue.

This book kept my attention from the first chapter. I loved watching Jude mature and seeing how their relationship grew. Neva was hesitant to give Jude a chance but he pulled out all the stops to show her that he could be just what she needed.

I loved watching his teammates and their partners as parents and seeing their relationships progress past their original HEA

Jude is a player for the Manchester athletics. Neva is the teams nutritionist. They met through the team but no one knows they had a secret relationship that fell apart because shes older than him. Now a year later Jude is trying to make head way with her hangup on his age. Will neva get past her age issues? Will they get a second chance? Will there be a HEA?

Love this entire series. I was only going to read book 1 because the main character reminded me of Roy Kent from Ted Lasso; and here I am, 6 books later and I can’t get enough.

Jude is that cheeky footballer who loves the game and the ladies. He is having a great season until he damages his tendon and has to rehabilitate for at least six months. Neva works for the team as a nutritionist for the players and she had an short affair with Jude that was kept very quiet. She broke it off because she was worried about their 10 year age gap and she wanted to start thinking about a family. Jude overheard her talking about wanting a baby and he thought this was a great way to get back with her. She had always been the one he wanted and he couldnt care a less about her age. The chemistry between the two was great and I loved his character, hating that at sometimes she couldnt see how good he was with her and how he cared. Good reading.

Jude and Neva’s story was everything I had hoped it would be and more! I loved Jude when we first met him in Penalty Kiss. There is just something about him that you just can't help loving.

Their chemistry was electric. I was totally swept away reading this. I just couldn't put it down. As always, I loved catching up with everyone. The banter is always so good!

Another amazing story from this author, I didn’t want it to end.
