Before there were legends, there was war.
Before fables became twisted truth and distorted tales.
Things deemed too dangerous were sealed, and bound for all eternity.
Or so it was believed.
Whispers from an ancient realm threaten the peace, drawing a lone adventurer into The Depths of Acheron. He seeks something from within this sealed domain, and those banished want something in return. Something belonging to them.
The time has come for the forgotten to be unveiled, and for the sealed to be unbound. Only then will the world know true fear.
Each book in The Forgotten Legacies series reads as stand alone, and donates a percent of royalties to The DMWS: an independent charity supporting those who put themselves in harm’s way to serve our country, including Armed Forces personnel, Reservists, Veterans and their families, and the police.

Review
"The plot has many layers to it and the portrayal of the characters is strong, which makes them memorable. There is an element of spirituality and mysticism that runs through the entire story. Readers find themselves thrown into a maze of intrigue, adventure, fantasy, whimsy, and magic as the story progresses. The narration is rich and detailed and K.J. Simmill gives importance to intricacies pertaining to characters, scenes, and places, making it a visual delight for readers. The author manages to keep the tempo and pace of the book till the very end and there is magic in her words as she weaves them into legendary places, interesting characters, and mysterious situations. There is a sense of urgency and tension in the story, yet at the same time the element of hope gives another dimension to the plot. For all those readers who love fantasy and adventure stories, this book is a must-read." - Mamta Madhavan -
"K.J. Simmill has crafted a spellbinding story that will transport readers into a magical and complex world to navigate. Readers will love the hero and the villains of this tale, but what I found the most fascinating is the concept behind it, the idea of the past visiting the present, the sealed mysteries, and the rebirth of death. The writing is great and the plot is well-imagined and written with a masterly touch. Remedy features powerful descriptions that conjure images to flood the reader's mind. The story reads as though crafted with a binding spell and readers find themselves following the characters and keeping pace with the conflict, anxious to find out how it ends. This is a delightful read for fans of the genre and readers looking for great stories with strong plot lines and entertainment potential. " - By Divine Zape - "I loved the level of conflict in this novel and its originality. The author creates worlds that are in conflict with each other and concepts that will excite the minds of readers. As one reads on, there is that tingling feeling that something huge could happen at any moment, and a lot of things do happen, dramatic and breathtaking. The conflict is monumental and it drives the plot, making it move forward from unexpected angles. It takes a lot of skill to write about an imaginary setting and make it feel like some place readers are familiar with, and K.J. Simmill seems to have this skill. The writing is beautiful, punctuated by compelling dialogues, streams of consciousness that explore the internal conflict in characters, and vivid descriptions of the setting, scenes, and characters. Remedy is an entertaining story with a spell that will continue to haunt readers after they are done reading." - By Romuald Dzemo -"I loved Rob, the protagonist in Remedy. I loved that he is a competent hunter who has his own moral code which he feels compelled to follow, regardless of what those around him are doing. I liked that his moral code is steeped in a sense of fairness rather than just might. I liked that he is likable, but always careful; that he is smart but compassionate. The tone of Remedy is dark, but K.J. Simmill skillfully weaves a sense of hope into the story. Not everyone is crazy for power or wealth. Not everyone is living in despair. Love exists in this world, but it is under siege. The plot is complicated. This universe is complex, but well explained. I enjoyed the writing. Remedy is a novel you can lose yourself in." - Ray Simmons -

- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2017After reading the first two books in the series I couldn’t be happier to get my hands on this newbie, and it certainly didn’t disappoint! Just like the previous two books, “Remedy” featured an unforgettable fantasy world, each detail of which was so excellently thought-through and executed that I felt completely immersed in it, and that’s definitely a testament to great writing. The characters were also so memorable, vivid and complex that I didn’t want to part with them when the novel ended. Taya definitely became my personal favorite; she was both fragile and incredibly strong when it came to the fate of her people, and she definitely deserved my utmost respect for her bravery and resilience that she showed in the direst of situations. Bray also won my affection from the very first scenes in which he appeared, always lightening the mood with his sardonic humor and at the same time stepping up to offer his help when it was most needed, even though such help sometimes came in the most unorthodox of ways. What I also enjoyed was how such issues as letting go and moving on from the loss of loved ones were raised as they will resonate with many readers. Just like the first two books, “Remedy” is definitely a five-star read and I can’t wait to read more from the talented Ms. Simmill. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2018I picked up this book because even though it was mid series I’d heard it could be read as a stand-alone. Well…yes and no. As an epic fantasy it has a very large cast of characters and sometimes I lost track how they fit together. I think I would need to start at the beginning of the series to hold them all in my head. The handful of main characters were well developed and I enjoyed the twisted path of their adventures. The story was well thought out and had unexpected twists. These are big positives and are the reason for my rating.
My main complaint was the explanations and descriptions were thick, so much so that they held me away from the state of being swallowed into a book. I love being the invisible person in the story, straining with the hunter as he scales the treacherous paths the pages present. I didn’t get that and I missed it. Still it was a good story.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2019Each book in this series gets better, which is some feat since the first one blew me away. The beautiful complexity of the world is only outshone by the plot, which is only outshone by the characters. There is no way to decide what was my favorite aspect or element because they are all remarkable and meld together to make an experience that is what high fantasy is all about. I was happily lost in this world, navigating alongside of the many POV characters, saddened when reality forced me to put the book down. The character motivations are real and born of the intricate backstories. You can read this standalone, as with the other parts but this experience is so wonderful, I know you'll want to read them all. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2017This is the first book I have read by Simmill and I am sure it won't be the last. Although I don't usually read this kind of book, I found myself drawn deeper and deeper into its complex and intriguing story-line. The language is rich, the message meaningful. Many readers will find themselves lost in its pages, spell-bound by its imaginary world and invested in its characters. Simmill is a talented writer with a wonderful future.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2017As always, I look for story first and KJ Simmill scores high on story telling ability. Not my usual type of book to be fair and I did struggle with the balance of narrative and dialogue, but that is a minor criticism. This is the first book I have read by this author and it is as it transpires the second in the series. To have it work as a stand alone book for me is an achievement in itself and while I would always suggest that readers should read a series in sequence, you could quite happily pick this up and read without having read the first one. That being said, the author tells such a good story, I suspect you will have missed out on something as no doubt I have and I intend to go back and find out what. Definitely an author that will shine in the future, download a KJ Simmill book and see for yourself.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2018Remedy will take you into the world of Greek mythology in a way you've never experienced before. This isn't a place where gods turn lovers into swans or constellations. It's a dark, complex world where an evil plot is brewing. The story is long, but you'll be caught up in its intricate plot with many twists and turns. You'll second guess the motives of characters and wondering if they're good or bad. It's a book you'll think about long after you've finished reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly well-written!
While this is book 3 in a series, and I've not read book 1 and 2, I really enjoyed reading Remedy! The description in every scene is vivid and so well done, it just paints a picture in my mind's eye (without being distracting, overwhelming, or any of the other common mistakes). The plot itself is compelling, and the characters (especially Rob) are unique, and have their own distinct personalities. An awesome read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unputdownable!
How have I not come across this author's series before?
An epic fantasy with a fabulous cast of well described and interesting characters. (there are quite a lot of them) Great female lead! So strong and yet unbelieveable fragile and self doubting too.
I also loved this author's writing style. Really sweeps you up from the very first page. It's quite spiritual too with descriptions leading you deep into the book. It's a completely unputdownable read and perfect for the darker eveingings so make sure you have a good long space of time to immerse yourself in it.
I started with book 3, and there's no problem with that, but will be going back to enjoy the full story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remedy
Wow! What a sweeping piece of fiction!
Highly recommend to fans of High Fantasy.
This is a book to be savoured over time without rushing. Incredible imagination and world building make up this complex, satisfying read.
I especially liked that each character was flawed but mostly acting on the history they believed and to further their own kind against those they felt had harmed them. Tara as a character personified this. Those she trusted twisted her truth with lies until she didn't know who she was or the difference between reality and truth. Everyone used her in some way to achieve their aims.
Amazing piece of fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT READ
A fantasy in which the author has created a complex and totally believable world where passions, mystery, drama and meticulously-drawn characters blend to form a viable, well-constructed whole. The detail given to scenes, and the epic world created, reinforces the authenticity of the story. Highly recommended.
