    For me, it was a slower start because the main characters don’t really fully interact until over 100 pages in. In the meantime, the reader comes across Harley’s boyfriend from high school (beyond awful), Heath’s boss (douchebag), and Harley’s mom (the absolute worst). It’s a dual perspective, so each chapter alternates as we see the the H/H individually go about their lives as the story builds to them actually being around each other. Prior to the time when Hadley and Heath start engaging, we witness them both experience disappointment in the most humiliating and infuriating way possible.

    I expected the tempo to speed up once the characters were fully back in each other’s lives, especially because they were best friends for over 10 years when they were kids/teenagers. Unfortunately, I never felt a spark. I saw what was intended to be banter, but it never caught a real rhythm for me. I’ve read the others in the series and enjoyed them, but this one didn’t connect for me. I read nearly half of it to see if the story would pick up when the characters started connecting more; by then, I found myself 181 pages in and figured I would see what happens. However once the characters kissed and there was no excitement, I decided to call it and returned it to the kindle library.

    I still gave 3 stars because I’ve liked the author in the past and because there weren’t any big editing or grammatical errors. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.

    For those that take this into consideration: There is some cussing, including f-bombs, and some crass humor. I’m not sure if it’s open door or closed door because I didn’t get that far.

    This was my first book in the Paradise Bay Series and I intend to go back and read the first three books. I loved how Hadley and Minerva (Thelma & Louise) bonded. That relationship was so good for both of them. Was ready to jump in the book and smack Heath in the back of the head in the airport scene, but I guess he had to get there himself. This was a wonderful heartwarming, and fun story and I can hardly wait to read the 1 - 3 in the series. Thank you Melanie for making me stay up past midnight when I have to be up early in the morning - just couldn't leave this book until the end.

    Really enjoyed this trip back to Paradise Bay as we get to watch Heath & Hadley fall hard for each other. We start with an accident that brings Heath home & Hadley learning that her long time boyfriend is getting married, just not to her. We have many laugh out loud events in this story but I have to say my 2 favourite are Heath crawling under the dressing room door to help Hadley stuck in a too small dress & Hadley & Minerva getting drunk on chocolate liquor bottles in Minerva’s hospital room. We watch as Heath loses his job & pines for Hadley & Hadley pulls herself back together after her relationship ends & she makes plans for her future. We laugh & swoon as they get closer & Hadley learns the secret Heath has been keeping for years only to see everything torn apart by a missed opportunity & a phone call. In the end our hearts get to rejoice as Heath & Hadley finally get their happy ending. This is a definite recommend to read story. Thank you to author Melanie Summers for gifting me this ARC for an honest review. Looking forward to reading more from Paradise Bay!
