Reviewer quote Transports me to another time... a time not unfamiliar with the atrocities of war because it has been promised to never forget. "Lest we Forget". Shows a different side to the WW2 story, events immediately after the end of the war. The narrative is intense & gruelling. The first one in a series about female SOE agents. Telling the story of Lise de Baissac, the sacrifices made at such great personal risk, are truly inspiring. Loved the first book. Already preordered this one.
Can't miss scene Rows of men dressed in black, waving National Socialist banners. She found herself entangled in a dangerous web of secrets. But with every cycle of her wheels, the enemy closed in as well. The tension of the occupation followed her like her own shadow. This is it, she thought, her mind unexpectedly calm and clear. But they won’t win. I’ve held out. I’ve done what I was trained to do. I betrayed no other agent.

The Resistance Girls are definitely deserving of 5 Stars!! I have read all of the books in the series and they are all exciting heartbreaking and heartfelt!!! Each girl has heartbreaking stories that will find them to find courage to join the resistance in different countries!! They fight the Germans with a rage they thought they would never have!! Each girl has a different personality and they all meet in Switzerland at different times!!!

Hannah Byron has crafted a perfect ending for the wonderful Resistance Girls series. What an interesting technique to both summarize each book and delve into the major characters' developmental, emotional, and psychological traumas that led each to the significant roles they played in their dedication and commitment to preserve freedom in Europe during each of the two WORLD Wars.
Their reunion revealed the emotional baggage and traumas that drove each character to her level of excellence as Resistance fighters. Otherwise the elements of character development would have been buried as another casualty of war. This technique allows each character and their families to understand each other with a deeper appreciation that of course seldom occurs in real life. Without the reunion, a continued resistance to a true renewal could have lead to disastrous consequences, even though peace through war was ultimately achieved.

A well written finale to help heal the scars after the wounds were treated.

As one previous reviewer wrote, Hannah Byron certainly hit the ball out of the park. As I eagerly awaited this book, I thought about how Hannah would present the characters. The format was perfect. I easily identified with the characters remembering their adventures. If you have read any or all of the series, this book is a must. But if you haven't all of them, please read them. You will enjoy the latest one more. You will embrace the ties of friendship over time. And you will discover that people are not always as they seem

While I have been on the ARC team for several books in this series and have really enjoyed them, I felt that since I had missed reading a couple of them, my enjoyment of this one was less than optimal. This was because parts of the book covering the updates on characters’ stories in books I hadn’t read left me puzzled. In some places, a few more words of background on the individual characters would have helped.

Basically, the “Resistance Girls” from both WWI and WWII, whose stories were covered in the series, and almost all of whom attender Le Manoir, a “finishing school” in Switzerland, receive invitations to a reunion there after the end of WWII from the redoubtable headmistress Mme. Paul, who had a reputation for over-strictness and possibly some antisemitic actions. Some invitees are initially reluctant to go but were pleased at the opportunity to see old friends and colleagues. What ensues at the Reunion are addresses by Resistance heroes describing their war experiences, some a total surprise to others present, resulting in an inspiring renewal of old friendships and sense of camaraderie. Mme. Paul’s surprising personal story and travails are elucidated.

Ms. Byron is a talented writer and I enjoyed this final book in the series, though in my opinion earlier ones resonated more with me.

I have just finished the last book in this series. This is one of the best series I have ever read. From the first one to this reunion, the characters are linked and brought to life in the best way. The horrors of war are matched by the strength of the women and women are too often ignored in history. I found this series to be very moving.

    The Resistance Girls Revisited
I had the pleasure of being a part of Hannah Byron’s ARC team for this book as well as many others in this series! The series is set during war time starting from 1918-1948 with the girls in the story becoming part of Resistance and to help save their families friends and countries throughout Europe.
This is the last book in The Resistance Girl Series and Hannah Byron has done a fantastic job with this story to wrap it all up!
It is a story of family, life, loss and love and of bringing all the girls, now women all together at their starting point , the Swiss finishing school La Manoir .
With their war time stories revisited and many surprises along the way, this makes for a great story.
Hannah Byrons, In Picardy Fields, was my first introduction to historical fiction and I highly recommend reading the entire series!

Book 8 brings to a close the stories of the remarkable resistance girls ,all of whom were inspiring to read about and and laugh and cry with.
The research is impeccable, and the struggles undergone by these amazing and selfless women reinforce the dream of lasting peace and no more war. Highly recommended!
