When I introduced Mara Marton in ON DEADLY GROUND, I knew she needed her own book. A beautiful geek researcher, how could she not need her own happily ever after? Matching her with a sexy ex-con? A challenge to me and for them. How could I resist?
I had to do my own heavy research for this book—prison culture and tattoos, museum security, crown jewels, and all the locations in the story. My clock-building husband had to answer many questions about woodworking.

I wanted to write as soon as I learned to read. I dabbled with stories and poems for years, but didn't start writing seriously until many years later. My favorite books have always been mysteries and romances, so the mix in romantic suspense was a natural. My stories throw the hero and heroine together under extraordinary circumstances and pit them against a clever villain. My books have been both a Romantic Times Magazine Reviewer's Choice Nominee and a finalist for the Daphne du Maurier Award. Reviewers have called my books fast-paced, thrilling, action-packed, sizzling, and highly emotional.

I have also published two children's picture storybooks, SLEIGH MAGIC and STOWAWAYS: A MAINE PIRATE TALE.

I am a West Virginia native but I have lived for many years on the coast of Maine.

    Right from the beginning, Susan Vaughan pulls you into this romantic suspense. The hero, the son of a jewel thief, has served time himself. The heroine’s father was suspected of being in league with the hero’s father. My goodness, can these two ever make a way through the maze of clues and intrigue and find a way to trust each other? Just when the reader is about to breathe a sigh of relief, Ms. Vaughan skillfully ratchets up the risks and the stakes. One of the things I enjoy most about this author’s writing is the freshness: "The fries set in Cort’s belly like a clump of wet sawdust." One of many such great descriptions. Looking forward to reading the third in this series.

    Ms. Vaughan sets a fast pace this time with puzzle rings and thugs coming out of the woodwork. It seems that everyone wants the Jeweler's last haul, the Gramorian crown jewels. There are several groups out to steal it. A couple groups out to retrieve it. And some people who just want to clear some names that got smeared in the crime. Mara just wants to know the truth about her father. Was he a thief or not? But the Jeweler's son wants to return the collection and redeem his name. The two not only work well together, but they also have great personal chemistry, of course. Can they recover the crown jewels, expose all the bad guys, and stay in love? Recommended.

    Cort had several goals, one find the missing ring, to complete the set. By doing this he hoped to get the FBI off his back. Mara is the first step, getting her to listen to him. Clearing her fathers name was that important to her, Risks are high, the beatings are many, the bomb threats, to name a few. The attraction is there, Cort has been a loner, she deserved more. Good tense plot, that held your interest to the end.

    Flat out––Ring of Truth is a suspenseful adventure chock full of action and steamy romance! I read it while I was sick with a bad cold and totally forgot to cough the whole time I was reading it. The chemistry between Cortez and Mara sizzles. They're delightfully flawed, fully formed characters and the action was intense. I was sorry to see their story end but am looking forward to the third book in the series! Kudos to Susan Vaughan for writing a highly entertaining book!
