Let Yourself Run Free Again (A Breath Without Life Novel Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 259 ratings

A discouraged rancher. A driven barrel racer.

One sees a dead-end future.

The other plans to dazzle the world.

Fate dares to slam them together. Will they survive the collision?

Colt Cooper is besieged by the single women of Crook County, each fighting to stake her own claim on the handsome rancher. Women are a foolish waste of energy, his past has proven, so focusing on his horse training business and overworked brother is time better spent. Though when a feisty redhead shows up for one of his horses, his thinking falters. It seems her sights are set on only one goal, and it’s not him.

Betsy Murphy’s arrival at Cooper Bar-6 Ranch is all business; she needs to replace her injured champion. Colt must pick her a barrel racing horse, help her train it, and send her back to Texas in time for the Nationals. Now, if only she could concentrate on the horse and not the man…

~Breath Without Life novels portrays seven bachelor ranchers, each so broken down by old wounds that he cannot conceive of ever finding love. Be there when one Cooper after another meets the one incredible woman who can make him whole again.

~Every book within this series is a stand-alone love story, though ranch life circumstances run chronologically through all six novels.

Second Book In a Series of The Hottest Cowboys Your Imagination Can Fathom..Phew....
My Top 3 Favorite authors has hit the market again with Colt in all living imagination color. He is an 'All American Wyoming Cowboy' and he is too much MAN for his own good. Actually, all the women are hot on his trail like mares in heat, but this stallion is NOT in season for just any filly. He has goals, standards, responsibilities, a ranch to operate, and a house full of brothers who need an example to follow. Incoming Ms. Betsy the Texas Barrel Runner competing for Nationals. She is all of 5 foot 2 and is a 'Red Hot Chili Pepper' - Colt is instantly blind-sided by her hot tongue and big boy pants, but he sees something else in her that runs deeper and he will use all his spare time to tame her fire only known to him as 'Riley - his little Spitfire and Irish Meadow' - You will not regret falling for these characters, it pulled on all my heart strings and men with character are a HOME RUN for me :-) One of my repeated questions "Lord where are all your men at? - Sons of God, with hearts of Gold and self-less natures, cultivated by a creator who knows the heart of a woman and created in His image to conquer the world and love his beauty and protect her at all costs. This is Colt ladies and he is worthy of this description - Enjoy!

Janith Hooper's style takes a little getting used to if you're not real familiar with Harlequin romance novels of the 60s. That's kinda how these read IMO. And that's a good thing, actually. While people looking for super-sweet, Hallmark-movie-style stories will want to avoid these, those who enjoy a more accurate portrayal of the struggle to live the Christian life will want to at least give her work a try. This is the second book I've read by this author. I still find the delivery a little jarring sometimes, but I do want to read a couple more books in this collection. In both books, she presents a heroine trying to make her way as an independent woman during the 60s. The hero in both books is a strong man with a more open mind that learns the value of having a strong woman by his side. In this particular story, I like how both MCs grew and learned what it was to truly love someone. I also liked how the heroine started out doubting God's existence but learned to trust Him again.
If you like inspirational retro romance, cowboys, and stories which are more true-to-life, give this book a try.

This book had me reading almost nonstop! I loved the feisty Rylee. Coop was to die for and I can't wait to read about the other brothers. Glad there are people who rescue these animals, God's creatures.

Colt and Rylee’s story was heart warming. It’s annoying how a man can be sure he wants a women in his life but has trouble admitting to loving said women.

Loved this second book in the series. But I didn't understand the personality switch in Colt. In the first book, he was so sweet. A true friend and counselor to people. Now, he's irritable and short with everyone. Plus, he doesn't seem to be too bright in what to say, whereas in the first book, he gave great advice.

But, anyway, I loved the story of Colt/Blue Eyes and Betsy/Rylee/Spitfire (the list goes on with her nicknames lol).

There was another loose end not explained. Why did the Widow come back? Nothing more was said after she left. Maybe when the third book comes out?

Each of the main characters, Betsy and Colt are stuck in life. Betsy motivated to prove women are capable of just about anything, work, rodeo, etc. colt who struggles to keep the family ranch going, despite family issues, trouble with women, a saboteur that is determined to put the ranch under. Colt and Betsy meet over the need for her to get a new horse…with limited time to train before Nationals.
Well developed characters, the story ebbs and flows as life pushes them together and then apart. Faith intervenes . Changes begin to happen.

I wanted to like this book but I found the characters behaviors confusing. I wasn't sure what the accent they had was and it seemed to change. I was reading the book and imagining the phrases they were using but nothing was said about why they talked that way. Also, I couldn't get into the characters and how they were acting and interacting. Overall I just found the book confusing and did not finish it.
