Already dying for the next book!
If you like romance, fantasy, secrets and betrayal this book is for you! I love the characters and the story line is phenomenal. Thea is bada** and I think she is only going to get better. I am absolutely shocked and pissed about the ending of this book!!! I won’t say why I’m shocked because I don’t do spoiler reviews but I’m pissed because I have to wait for the next book after that cliffhanger I was left on! Shay Taylor is an excellent storyteller and her world building is stellar. Now to impatiently wait for the next book!

    I'm honestly floored.

    Thea, an elite magic user, must compete in deadly trials to have the chance to save her friends. The kicker is that she can't remember who she is or anything about her past.

    Thea and Cassius' relationship created so many questions and suspicion. Just when you think you're going to get a HEA, the rug is ripped out from under you and you're left with your jaw on the floor trying to understand what just happened.

    I was locked in with the plot and character development of this book. There were so many questions and then answers and then even more questions. I don't even know who to trust anymore, just like our broken Thea.

    I'm downloading book 2 ASAP because I NEED to know more!!

    My second ever ARC book! I’m so grateful to have been chosen and I can’t thank Shay enough. So without further ado, here is my honest review.

    To say I was gripped throughout this book was an understatement! It had action, spice, twists and turns and everything that you could want in a book.

    The FMC Thea was beautifully written, and I enjoyed learning about Thea as she ultimately learned more about herself and the world around her. She’s an amazingly independent and strong willed but overly cautious character, who is suffering with some lost memories and can’t remember anything of her past or who she is.

    The ending of the book had me shocketh, it left us on such a cliff hanger. The more I read of this the more questions I had, it literally kept me guessing what was going to happen the whole way through. I really wasn’t expecting the ending to happen that way, I definitely thought it’d be vice versa for sure!! I need the second book to be written like soon please Shay. . . or to be another ARC reader for it 😉

    If you like spice, forbidden magic, trials, he falls first and books such as The hunger games, Divergent and ACOTAR etc definitely give this a read for sure, I’m hoping you’ll love it as much as I did!

    My rating is actually 4.75 stars but Amazon doesn't allow for partial stars!
    So this is book one in the secrets and curses trilogy. This is based in the Fae world of Elloryon and we have five kingdoms, two of which are sworn enemies, along with the forbidden forest and a place called exile.

    This first book is mainly based in exile, the forbidden forest and the Kingdom of Crimson. We have a prophecy, we have trials, we have Fae, we have magic, there are meddling gods, and enemies to lovers, oh and our FMC has no memories of her past.

    I first came across these books on TikTok, I kept seeing posts with quotes from the book, and I followed the account because I was intrigued and the more quotes I saw the more I knew I had to get these books, not realising that I was following the author all along!

    Anyway I bought the set, because why not, and boy am I glad I did! I was obsessed by this book before the end of the first chapter. The world building is top-notch, the writing is excellent, the plot is well thought out and executed, the characters are well rounded and engaging, I love Shay’s writing style, it flows really well, and there are some great plot twists and red herrings along the way.

    I absolutely loved it, it very quickly became my next obsession. When it sadly came to the end, it was all I could think about. I started a different book but couldn’t get into it because I just wanted to read the next book in this series, so I did!

    This is a 4.75 star read for me, I love this series and Shay has become one of the few authors whose books I will automatically buy without reading the blurb. I cannot recommend this book or author enough!
