A big family. A whole lot of secrets. A Christmas to remember…

This year, Lottie is hosting one last big family Christmas at the home she grew up in – just like her Nana would have wanted.

But when her relatives descend on the old manor house, Lottie gets more than she bargained for. Every family has its secrets, but in this family, everybody has one!

So, between cooking a Christmas dinner, keeping tensions at bay and a stray dog out of mischief, she has plenty on her plate (and not just misshapen sausage rolls and a frozen turkey). And then her first love shows up – nine years after he walked out of her life.

Can Lottie make their last family Christmas one to remember… for the right reasons?

A festive treat to curl up with this Christmas, perfect for fans of Milly Johnson and Trisha Ashley.

Ok, who let Bella Osborne sit in on our family Christmas gatherings? I don’t even remember her being there. Seriously, I swear she had to written this book as a compilation of all our holiday get togethers. I bet, when you read this one, you’ll feel the same way about your family too, and you’ll go looking through all the holiday photos to see if Bella is hiding somewhere taking notes. So this wonderful read is about Lottie trying to gather her family together for one last Christmas at Manor House before it is sold after Nana Rose’s recent passing. Of course with all the family coming, it doesn’t help that Lottie really cant cook. With a crazy diverse group of people, a stray dog, an ex-boyfriend, a un-defrosted turkey and tons of family secrets, this holiday gathering brings a ton more to the table than just a family reunion. Tons of quirky characters, a multitude of unexpected arrivals, heaps of blunders, and gobs of surprises, Bella Osborne has written one of the most amusing and playful Christmas books that I have read so far. It’s pretty much everyones family gathering smushed into one big story. It’s heartfelt, entertaining, mysterious and rewarding all in one read. I absolutely loved this book. If you are thinking covid is going to affect your holiday gathering this year, don’t fret. Stay safe, social distance, minimize this year and get all your family gathering thrills just by reading this book. You won’t have to clean up afterwards either! (BONUS) 4.5 stars rounded up

I could sympathize with Lottie, a young woman who was not experienced in or fond of cooking. Yet she tried to cook for a house full of family members because she wanted to have one more family Christmas in the manor home where Nana Rose had always hosted each Christmas gathering for the family. Nana had recently passed away, and Lottie was mourning her loss more than the other family members because Nana had been like a mother to Lottie.
The author did an excellent job of character development and place description. I could picture each scene in my mind and could imagine an audience laughing because reading the book seemed much like watching a rom-com movie. There were no boring sections in the book; something unexpected was constantly happening.
The book contained familial love and frustration, mystery, romance, and comedy.

After Nana Rose dies her granddaughter Lottie is determined to have their traditional family Christmas. Now Lottie will prepare the food and the family will be staying at her Grandmother's house Henbourne Manor, where Lottie was living with her and Great Uncle Bernard. So much is going on, a wonderful cast of characters. Sometimes I laughed and other times I cried. But overall it's a feel good book.

One Family Christmas was the perfect book to cozy up with for me. I needed something that I could not only relate to but something that would give me a case of the giggles just like this one. Now, while the book wasn't perfect (it did drag a bit and I felt it was a little too long) there were many memorable moments from it that I know I won't forget. I definitely recommend giving this one a try!

I hate when reviews say, “you will laugh out loud at this book” so I buy it and with great expectations search for the laughs. This book actually did make me laugh out loud. The author has a marvelous way of writing human emotions so that they are actually alive and not just black lines on paper. Thoroughly enjoyable book. I can’t wait to read others by her. Thank you!

This story runs very true to form. We’ve all imagined the perfect family Christmas gathering with high hopes of peace and joy only to have the pretty picture popped. The many twists and turns in Bella’s story were at times jaw dropping, hysterically funny, and sweet. Thank you Bella for making my dream holiday family gathering a lot less daunting. Totally enjoyed every moment.

I keep reading english novels and with every new one I have more of a desire to visit the English countryside. What a fun Christmas holiday the family had. I kept trying to guess where the ring was. I thought Rhys would find it with his metal detector. The characters were well thought out and very enjoyable. It was a good read.

"Lottie fidgeted distractedly, adjusting her sparkly hair clip. Her hair didn’t need clipping back, she just liked sparkly things. A little sparkle seemed to make even the darkest day better."

I absolutely loved this book. I never thought a chick lit could be this good. The story is thoroughly engaging. The writing style is beyond impressive. The character sketch of all the family members is brilliant. There's drama on literally every page, there's wit and humour, and then there's the Christmas set up!

I will definitely read other books by Bella Osborne.

A heartwarming story about families and never losing faith in people. At time funny enough to make me laugh out loud, sometimes sad. But very uplifting too, especially for those who like me just love Christmas, my family and all that they stand for.

I have been a fan of Bella’s books for a while now. I haven’t quite caught up with everything that she has written but I am getting there. I read the synopsis for ‘One Family Christmas’ and it certainly sounded like the fun, light hearted and comforting story that I have come to expect from Bella. I was spot on too because it had all the aforementioned qualities. I absolutely loved ‘One Family Christmas’ but more about that in a bit.
I absolutely loved the character of Lottie and I warmed to her from the very start. At the beginning of the story we find her making the traditional Christmas pudding with her Nan. Lottie and her Nan share a very close bond and think the world of each other. Sadly Lottie’s beloved Nan passes away but Lottie is determined that the family are going to have the traditional Christmas that her Nan had planned. Lottie is a lovely lass. It’s clear that she has had issues in the past with certain people who have upset her or treated her like dirt and she can’t forget that. Will the Christmas that her Nan planned be a success or a flop? Are there shocks and surprises in store for Lottie and the other family members and friends? Well for the answers to those questions and more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you. Trust me, you will love ‘One Family Christmas’ just as much as I did.
It’s no word of a lie when I say that I was drawn into this story from the very start. As soon as I started to read, I just knew that I was not going to be able to put the book down at all!! How right I was too. I didn’t put this book down from the moment I first picked it up until the moment I read the last word on the last page. I was blown away by the story and by how much I was enjoying the story. I think that part of the reason why I enjoyed the book so much was the fact that Lottie was such an adorable character and I had to know how things panned out for her. At times I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough. Whilst reading ‘One Family Christmas’ I lost all track of time. The first time I checked on how long I had been reading for, I was staggered to realise that I had been reading for 2 solid hours. I thought that I had only been reading for a half hour. I soon got to the end of the book and I had to bid farewell to Lottie and to the rest of the characters.
‘One Family Christmas’ is superbly written but then I think that to be true of Bella’s books in general. She has a way of creating adorable characters and makes them come alive as it were. I know that might sound daft to some but I find that Bella’s characters are so well described that they seem just as real as you and I. I felt as though I was part of the story and that is This book had a bit of everything- there was drama, sadness, love, loss but there was also a large dose of humour and some parts of the story literally made me laugh out loud. This is an ultimately uplifting story, which left me with a smile on my face and feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘One Family Christmas’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Bella’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
