Operation Absolom: A World War II Action Adventure. (Carter's Commandos Book 1) Kindle Edition
In the midst of a world torn by war, one man's courage will be tested.
When a miscalculated explosion leaves Carter unconscious, he awakens in hostile territory, isolated and hunted. With only his commando training to rely on, he must navigate the treacherous landscape of enemy lines, where every moment counts and danger lurks at every turn.
As he skilfully evades capture, Carter faces the grim reality that if the enemy finds him, death is inevitable. Will he muster the strength to survive and fight another day, or is he destined to become a forgotten casualty in the frozen wilderness of Norway?
“Operation Absolom” is the exhilarating first instalment in the Carter’s Commandos World War II series.
If you crave edge-of-your-seat military adventures with high stakes, Robert Cubitt’s gripping tale is a must-read.

About the author

Bob was born in Edinburgh in December 1951. The first few years of Bob's life was spent travelling around the world with his family. During his first 15 years he lived in Edinburgh, Austria, Malaya, Enfield, Leigh-on-Sea, Maldon (the Essex one), Harlow and Peckham.
In 1968 Bob Joined the Royal Air Force as an apprentice electronics technician and spent the next 23 years travelling the world and enjoying all that service life had to offer. Places visited included Oman (a small island by the name of Masirah), Cyprus, Malta, Holland, Germany and various parts of the UK. During this time he met and married Bernadette and produced three children, Ewan, Tara and Sinead. He retired from the RAF in 1991.
Following on from this Bob took up new employment with Royal Mail as part of their logistics team and stayed with them until 2009. After that he returned to his roots and took up a position with the Ministry of Defence at their Logistics facility at Bicester, Oxfordshire, before leaving in 2012 to take up full-time writing.
Bob has always been keen on writing and had tried his hand at various projects over the years, but the need to earn a crust had always interfered with his desire to be more creative. Now Bob returned to writing with a passion and produced two works of fiction in rapid succession and one non-fiction work. In truth these had been "works in progress" while he had still been in full-time employment and just needed finishing off. Since publishing these three books on Amazon he has written several more, including his long running Magi sci-fi series and the first two books of a World War II series about the commandos.
In his spare time Bob enjoys playing golf, is a member of a pub skittles team, is an active member of the Royal British Legion and supporter of Northampton Saints rugby team.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get your facts right
A good introduction to the commandos, their training and ethos. However, several inaccuracies creep in due to lack of proof reading. As an ex Royal Navy person I was disgruntled to read that an RN lieutenant was supposedly equivalent to an Army Lieutenant. Everybody (?) knows that RN Lt equates to an army captain. Surprised that there is little (actually no) reference to Lord Lovat, who was one of the leading forces in forming the Commandos, as well as the fact that the Royal Marines wear "Lovats" as oe of their formal parade uniforms. He is mentioned in a later novel.
