Operation Banshee: An Action Adventure Story From The Troubles (Carter's Commandos Book 9) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 23 ratings

The most mundane office job can suddenly become very, very dangerous when you have a reputation for heroism. So it is with for Steven Lucky Carter when he finds himself sitting behind a desk in Northern Ireland.

An IRA informant has gone missing and Lucky Carter is asked to go and find him. It should be a simple afternoon’s work, but it turns into a nightmare when things go badly wrong. The IRA don’t take prisoners and, if they do, it is only so they can interrogate them before they kill them. Is this one mission too far for Lucky Carter? It certainly looks that way.

This 9th book of the Carter’s Commandos series sees Lucky and his friends face an enemy that is far worse than any they have faced before, if only because they don’t know what the enemy looks like.

Bob was born in Edinburgh in December 1951. The first few years of Bob's life was spent travelling around the world with his family. During his first 15 years he lived in Edinburgh, Austria, Malaya, Enfield, Leigh-on-Sea, Maldon (the Essex one), Harlow and Peckham.

In 1968 Bob Joined the Royal Air Force as an apprentice electronics technician and spent the next 23 years travelling the world and enjoying all that service life had to offer. Places visited included Oman (a small island by the name of Masirah), Cyprus, Malta, Holland, Germany and various parts of the UK. During this time he met and married Bernadette and produced three children, Ewan, Tara and Sinead. He retired from the RAF in 1991.

Following on from this Bob took up new employment with Royal Mail as part of their logistics team and stayed with them until 2009. After that he returned to his roots and took up a position with the Ministry of Defence at their Logistics facility at Bicester, Oxfordshire, before leaving in 2012 to take up full-time writing.

Bob has always been keen on writing and had tried his hand at various projects over the years, but the need to earn a crust had always interfered with his desire to be more creative. Now Bob returned to writing with a passion and produced two works of fiction in rapid succession and one non-fiction work. In truth these had been "works in progress" while he had still been in full-time employment and just needed finishing off. Since publishing these three books on Amazon he has written several more, including his long running Magi sci-fi series and the first two books of a World War II series about the commandos.

In his spare time Bob enjoys playing golf, is a member of a pub skittles team, is an active member of the Royal British Legion and supporter of Northampton Saints rugby team.

Good way of ending the saga with a more recent twist.
A better proof reader is required, ensuring less spelling and grammatical errors!!!

I liked the action of all the heroes and the final farewell.I did not like the fact that such a hero could align himself with the IRA
