At First Sight (The Scottish Billionaires) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 6,816 ratings

Sixteen years ago, I lost Belle, the love of my life, in a tragic car accident.

Devastated, I left Scotland to work in Uncle Ben's brokerage firm in Manhattan. Dedicating my life to the job, I rose to the top of the ladder, next in line to head the billion-dollar company.

Belle, however, never left my heart.

Every year––on our anniversary––I dine at the restaurant where we first met.

And that's when I saw her again…today!

She was three tables away—the spitting image of Belle from sixteen years ago. It couldn’t be a coincidence. It had to be fate or at least a sign.

Now, there’s only one thing on my mind; I must find out who she is.

When Drake Mac Gilleain lays eyes on Maggie McCrae, he believes he’s seeing the ghost of his late wife and decides to follow her.

Maggie has found her dream as a violinist in the New York Philharmonic, but her personal life is scared by a controlling and abusive boyfriend.

It leads to a violent argument on the sidewalk, but luckily, Drake sees the assault and saves Maggie.

Shaken but determined to rid herself of her boyfriend, Maggie stays with Drake while sorting out her situation, and an instant attraction ensues.

Drake is falling hard for Maggie, but as the truth comes out, how can Drake explain he stalked her for weeks because she reminds him of his late wife?

Find out what happens next in M. S. Parker’s new novel, At First Sight, a brilliant standalone romance in the Scottish Billionaires series.

The story captured both the beauty and ugliness found in relationships perfectly. The steamy scenes were just right. If only there was a real guy like Drake somewhere….

I gave this book four stars, but I was waffling about what to rate it. However, I liked the premise of the story, and I was glued. The Hero was a really sweet man. The heroine was so frustratingly naive, and she didn't have any depth other than the musical talent. She was just so idiotic at times. Thank the goddess the author finally injected a detective who set her straight on a point or two. I think the author put Drake and Maggie to bed too quickly. Most of the chapters are short.

This storyline is important because there are so many women who can relate to the main character. It promises if you’re strong enough you too can have a happy ending.

    **Spoiler alert.**
I storyline OK, but kind of lost it when, after issues of domestic violence /work place violence came up, everyone seem to put their brain on pause.
I can't imagine anyone, allowing a potential victim to be anywhere by themselves on the same premises, where the potential abuser works. And to completely ignore allegations/ accusations against the abuser and allow them free rein.
Liked the characters and development, but it seems like, every other chance they could, somebody ended up naked. Which, of course seems to be the answer on what to do after domestic violence occurs. Get naked with somebody in bed. Or not in bed as the case may be.
But it gets better. The victim, by herself +without anybody, knowing where she is going, took it upon herself to go to the abusers house to confront him to "turn himself in".
Suspend reality right here. You are now in an alternate dimension of stupidity.
However, the handling of domestic violence really bothered me. Not sure I will finish story even to see where it ends.

A crazy wild story! Drake lost his wife and daughter in accident years before, he was in a restaurant and he noticed a young woman who reminded him of his late wife. The story started to get twisted, he had to find out who she was and where she worked. When he found out where Maggie went to work everyday. She played the violin. She had a boyfriend who abused her every way he could. Drake wanted to protect Maggie, so he got himself involved with Maggie, trying to protect her from her old boyfriend. As you can see Drake is a wonderful person from Scotland. He really put himself out there to protect her and in doing so he fell head over heels for her. The story continues to get more twisted between her ex boyfriend and Maggie to the point where the police are involved in sending Dale to jail! Chemistry becomes to much for Maggie and Drake ! This author has out done herself, fantastic story! ENJOY

No, I am not a prude.. First, this author has adopted the style of one chapter dedicated to one character and the other chapter for the next the other character, which is somewhat puzzling as I think narrative is weakened; but what was distracting was a battered woman who had been brutally treated physically and sexually seeking comfort through sex with a relative stranger who apparently didn’t have the forethought to think about stranger’s behavior. That might happen but it wasn’t explained how it would be healing next that set up a precedent where the author dedicated, about five pages on my kindle reader on my phone, sexual discussion. I ask how many times do you need your heroine to go down on a man or how many times (even after he has been stabbed) does the hero have to eat her out or does the author have to use the sexual scenes as a filler to avoid character development. This is my first book of MS Parker’s collection and the focus on sex soon became boring and unimaginative. In sum if this author wants to be known as a purveyor of sex, that goal has been met.

Drake was having a special dinner at the restaurant when he saw a beautiful woman who looked just like his deceased wife. Shocked by this he knew he needed to find out who she was.

Maggie was having dinner with her boyfriend and fellow member of the New York Philharmonic. Maggie was the 2nd Chair in the flute section. She played beautifully with the Stratavarius that her mom gave her.

Drake came to the Philharmonic to see a customer of theirs when he heard the beautiful music being played by Maggie but he could not see her. He made arrangements to come to see her play but had no plans to approach her. He ran into her once at a deli and actually bought her lunch when she couldn't find her money. Then a short time later he saved her from being attacked by her boyfriend Dale.

When Maggie's brother Carson couldn't give her a place to stay, Drake automatically offered her a guest room at his place. After checking out Drake's credentials Carson approved and Maggie moved in with Drake.

Maggie felt so safe and cared for by Drake that she started to get feelings for him. Soon she would relax into his embrace. Things would soon get crazy.

I loved this story. Some heartfelt moments for both of them. The horrible things that happened with her ex-boyfriend. The great moments with the family members on both sides.

What's not to love? Must read book by M.S. Parker. Enjoy

This is the first book I've read of this author and I cannot wait to read another one. Previously, I'd been reading alot of fantasy romance with scary alpha males who were often moody and aggressive.
I loved how the author wrote Drake's character in this story. He has the perfect combination of being gentle and kind but still masculine and confident as well. It's a sexy combination and I really enjoyed seeing his love for Maggie unfold. Definitely recommend

Well, they certainly had their trials and tribulations to overcome but the obvious chemistry between them was always going to triumph over the villain.
The story is enjoyable and entertaining……..
