Shopping for a Highlander: Shopping for a Highlander, Book 2 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.5 out of 5 stars 769 ratings

I’m a professional chickenblocker.

Except “chicken” is a euphemism.

I get paid to follow a womanizing troglodyte who thinks rules are for other people and that my pants are the next pair he’s getting into.

Dream on.

Bet your first professional job didn’t involve babysitting an extremely hot, muscle-bound Scottish highlander with an ego the size of a kilt and a libido bigger than his…well…

Chicken.

Keeping Scottish football (that’s "soccer" to us Americans) player Hamish McCormick away from inappropriate scandals while he does product endorsement campaigns is my mission.

No problem.

Until Hamish decides I’m his next scandal.

And maybe more...

Shopping for a Highlander is an enemies-to-lovers, slow-burn romance that opens with a surprise kiss and ends with a happily ever after. This sports comedy in the New York Times best-selling Shopping for a Billionaire world contains no actual chickens, but it has plenty of locker room scenes, a fake relationship, very real banter, and more. You do not have to have listened to the previous books in this world, though after you hear about Amy and Hamish, you’ll want to. ;)

This slow-burn enemies-to-lovers will have you laughing and falling in love
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 STEAM: 🔥🔥 This book picks up a couple of months after Shopping for a Turkey. Amy Jacoby has graduated with her MBA and looking for a job. After a series of events, she is not quite sure how she ended up being Hamish McCormick's handler, but yet here she is. They had a falling out after news broke that he slept with his coach's daughter and there was a video. His agent and a company hoping to invest in Hamish have hired Amy to make sure he behaves. Neither one of them are happy about the arrangement, and while traveling to L.A. for a photoshoot, Hamish does whatever he can to antagonize poor Amy. Hamish is not just the cocky playboy that he seems. While we saw glimpses of the real Hamish in the first book, we see more of that in this one. Yes, he is good-looking, stacked, and charming, but he is also protective, gentle, and kind. The book gives us more insight into his Scotland family dynamic and how he works with his teammates. Just like Amy, we are blindsided by this guy who really got on our nerves but yet somehow snuck into our hearts. Amy's journey in this book is the opposite of Hamish's. We got more of the family dynamic from hers in Book One, and in this one, she has to fly solo most of the time. We still get small snippets of her adorable family, but for the most part, we get to understand why Amy is so neurotic and guarded. If you're looking for a spicy read, this is not quite the book to pick up. Where this book shines is the comedic interactions between Hamish and Amy and between them and their family/friends/colleagues and the development arc of their relationship. We do get a couple of scenes, and I think this book would definitely qualify as a slow burn, but you would miss the point of the read if you want to focus on the physical aspect of their relationship. I guess this book can work as a standalone, but you would miss the whole picture if you did not read Shopping for a Turkey at least. Julia Kent does a great job of integrating characters from previous series without overexplaining, but you get more depth into Hamish and Amy if you read Book One of this series.

I think Shopping for a Highlander is one of my favorite novels of the extended Shopping for a Billionaire universe. It’s funny without going too over the top like some previous books, the characters are relatable, flawed and likable, and the more serious aspects of the story are handled well. I literally laughed out loud a couple of times. I’m looking forward to the continuation of Amy and Hamish’s story in the future, whenever that may be, with hopefully an appearance by Harry included.

This was a fantastic very funny read. Love the banter between Hamish and Amy. Humor galore with a happily ever after what more could you want. Highly recommend!!

This book is hilarious, as all the books in this series are. Julia does such a good job showing the craziness of the lust/hate relationship that Amy has with Hamish. I loved it, just as I've loved all the books in Julia's Shopping series. I'm looking forward to the next book on Amy/Hamish.

Amy is likable, but her determination to never open up to anyone caused her a lot of problems. She was also really quick to judge others, sometimes making snap judgements that turned out to be "not quite right" or incomplete. She did this to Hamish, only to find out there was a lot more to him than she originally thought.

Hamish was a lot of fun, and I loved his Scottish accent, and his attitude toward what he considered strange American behavior. He was definitely a player, though, which caused Amy to have a low opinion of him. He got better after he fell for Amy, but it took her a long time to realize that he had changed.

When they did finally get together, they were good for each other. I'm looking forward to the next book, where Amy will meet Hamish's family. That should be fun.

    My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Having read almost every book written,by Julia Kent, this one was a no thinker. The Shopping series continues with the story of Hamish and Amy.
Hamish is a Scottish football player, popular, sexy, and has no mouth filter. Related to the McCormicks, he becomes involved in their craziness. His exploits have caused him to begin to lose some of his business promoters, so his manager decides to hire someone to help him control his extra-curricular activities.
Amy is single young lady, fresh out of college, she applies to work for the company that represents Hamish. She, unwillingly, is the one assigned to monitor his activities. She doesn’t trust him, because every time they are around each other, he constantly flirts with her. She does go ahead a takes the job, and the craziness begins.
The banter between Hamish, and Amy is constant throughout the entirety of the book. There is several lol moments, and several misunderstandings. Amy learns about Hamish’s insecurities, and Hamish learns about Amy’s insecurities. They begin to develop feelings for each other, and these feelings become love. Hamish expresses his love for Amy in an outstanding way. They finally reach their HEA.
I’ve read the whole Shopping series, and highly recommend this book, and all the Shopping series.

If you have read any of the Shopping series, you already know that Julia Kent brings us not only rom-com, not only her version of slapstick comedy (I mean ANYTHING that Marie does tends to go sideways doesn't it?) but she also brings us heart and often times, a lesson to be learned. Amy is the youngest of the Jacoby family. She is not immune to the chaos that surrounds her family but she also knows how incredibly lucky she is to have all that love and support...no matter what. What most don't know is what goes on inside her head and why she is driven as much as she is. And soon, we find out that there is a whole lot more to Hamish that we ever expected. He comes by the nickname McWh***mick honestly but it really isn't for all the notches on his bedpost. There are plenty of truly hilarious moments and plenty of truly heartfelt moments. The mothers are on point as always and you can never dislike an A (can't put word in here lol) Boyfriend Summit. But in the end, the story comes down to learning to trust not only others, but yourself. Bring on Scotland!!

    Wow. Squeeeee. Happy Dance.
I loved this book, a brilliant addition to the Shopping series. Julia Kent has done it again :-)
Hamish and Amy have been supporting cast for a while, it is sooooooo good for them to get their time in print.
Hamish is the lovable rogue who thinks with his todge and wants to make every woman happy.
Amy the youngest daughter, who feels the need to control and keep it together, at all times, no exception.
In the past Hamish has always been the wind up merchant and Amy trying to control the last thread of sanity he leaves in his wake.
They are chalk and cheese and so perfect for each other.
This tale is a rollercoaster of Hamish discovering himself and Amy learning to let go, just a little bit.
I love the story arc, character development and attention to detail.
Julia kent is an exceptional writer and I cannot recommend this book, series or any of her other works enough.
Go for it. You won't regret it 💖💖💖

I really enjoyed Amy and Hamish's story. But I just found it hard sometimes to read the way Hamish was talking.
