- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is another EXCELLENT Shandra Higheagle story by Paty Jager! Needless to say I LOVED it! Poor Shandra can't enjoy her trip to Hawaii and the art exhibits in peace... a dead body shows up!
Paty Jager takes us on a trip to Hawaii where we are introduced to some Hawaiian customs and beliefs. Shandra gains the respect of an elder because she understands storytelling... I will not say more as I always feel these stories are better enjoyed with the surprises that come up along the way.
Reading a Shandra Higheagle story is like visiting an old friend. Shandra and her husband Ryan make an excellent detective team! It is so interesting to see them away from home for a change - but it is always great to see them at work at home with Sheba and Lil.
I always look forward to the author's stories as I know that I am in for a sleepless night with a story that can be reread again later. Her stories take me away into a culture that I am greatly interested in and where I learn something new as I enjoy the story. The characters are wonderful and memorable - so very real. I can't wait until the NEXT one!
I was given an ARC, and I am freely sharing my opinion as you should read this book! I also bought a copy to support this wonderful author! Please, keep them coming Ms Jager!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIf you have been following Shandra you know the location is new, but the murder mystery is as good as always! Loved the way the art community was entwined with old and new world criminals. It was a very good read. I recommend it to everyone and can't wait for the next book. If you haven't read the whole series you should get started. And then follow up with Gabriel Hawk series ... More crime solving in a beautiful location ... The mountains of Wallowa county in Eastern Oregon. That just happens to be where I live, so how can it get better than that! Enjoy
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchasePaty Jager’s series are my go to for great reads for mysteries with a Western and Native American flair. Whether you are reading the Shandra Higheagle series or the Gabriel Hawke series, these books are hard to put down. Ms Jager describes scenes that are easily visualized. Her plots have twists and turns which will keep you guessing to the end My one regret about her books….new ones don’t come out fast enough!.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe latest in the Shandra Higheagle mystery series sees Shandra and Ryan on Hawaii, having been invited by a friend of Shandra's for her to judge an art competition.
Shandra's friend is a suspect in the murder of of the artists' who entered the competition, and despite Shandra's Grandmother not giving her any help in her dreams as to how to solve the mystery, she feels she needs to clear Leilani's name.
As good as the rest of the books in the series, I can't wait for the next book to be released. This is a series I'd read over and over again.
