- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchasePaty has created an engaging series with Shandra, Ryan and ALL the supporting characters. Good story lines and the evolving relationship between the two main characters keeps me reading. Do yourself a favor and try the Hawke series by Paty also. I think that series is equally good.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe plot to this mystery was a bit too predictable. Shandra always makes herself vulnerable to kidnappers in the end. However,I do appreciate all the wonderful characters in Paty Jagers novels.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMayhem and murder for the holidays, fills this plot. Shandra dog is in the parade the sled he is pulling is filled with presents for the young children. A car back fired and her dog takes off. Finding him, that he had been stabbed as well as a dead body now in the sled. A case that Ryan had worked on when undercover, has lead them to finding where Ryan now lives. With strange men in town, missing snowmobiles, the story is action packed. As well as how close Ryan and Shandra have become. Enjoy this heartwarming story of murder and all the friends rally around to protect them,
- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book was more tension producing than some of the previous in this series. Shandra's love, Ryan Greer, finds his past has finally come to exact revenge. Fortunately for Shandra, once this is settled, this should open the door to a more permanent future for them. I was a bit distraught, however, that Shandra was so slow to figure out who the second bad guy was since to me it was so obvious from the first minute he appeared. I do find myself getting a bit tired of the heroine always having to be in jeopardy before the books can end; but Jager isn't the only author who seems to find it necessary to use this ploy. That aside, I have thoroughly enjoyed these books and hope Jager plans more with these characers.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI DIDNOT ENJOY THIS AS MUCH AS HER PREVIOUS BOOKS. TOO MUCH ROMANCE AND NOT ENOUGH MYSTERY. BOOKS BEGINNING TO B THE SAME
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseShandra and Ryan are getting reAdy to have a traditional Christmas with his family when a man's body is found in the sled of presents that Shandra's dog is pulling for the Christmas parade . It turns out that Ryan had some gang problems prior to their meeting. It turns into a cops and robbers story that keeps you interested up til the very end of the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really good read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is the 7th book in the series, I've read them all in order as that's just the way I prefer to read these series of books.
Ryan's history comes back to seriously endanger him, Shandra and his family. Someone is out to get him and make him pay, and they don't care who they hurt in order to get to him.
It's coming up to Christmas and at the parade in Huckleberry, in which Sheba is pulling the sleigh with presents, something happens which spooks Sheba, she takes off running and when she returns, she returns with a body in the sleigh she's still pulling.
Ryan is dealing with a house invasion in such outdoor survival goods have been taken. Whilst on the hunt for the burglar he comes across a body with the exact same cause of death as the one Sheba found. Could these be linked?
Once again a really great book and a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars I thoroughly enjoyed this story
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI received an ARC of this book in return for leaving an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
This is the first Paty Jager book I have read and therefore the first in the Shandra Higheagle Mysteries I have read.
The book is a light romance, crime fighting/ mystery that I enjoyed.
