Silicon Valley Cozy Mystery Series Box Set: Books 1-3 (Silicon Valley Cozy Mysteries Box Set Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 390 ratings

If you like your cozy mysteries served with clever humor, sassy side characters, and more twists than red licorice, you’ll love this refreshingly modern cozy series. Over 1,000 Amazon 5-star ratings for the first novel in this boxset.

Armed with only an eye for detail and powers of self-delusion, Marty Golden bumbles through his investigations and still manages to solve the cases before danger strikes him down.

Despite enjoying his job at a start-up driverless car company, Marty fantasizes that he has a top-secret relationship with the police, leading the charge to solve mysteries. Too bad this quirky, fashion-backward uncle isn't exactly hero material.

Following clues he uncovers, can Marty survive long enough to solve each murder while tangling with gangsters and a cantankerous school secretary, keeping his job, fumbling his personal relationships, and plunging into dangerous—or merely awkward—situations along the way? Follow along as he sifts through suspects and marches to the beat of his ever-present Hawaiian shirts.

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

Marc Jedel writes humorous murder mysteries. Years in Silicon Valley marketing leadership positions honed his sense of humor and writing skills. Crafting fiction on the job was simply called emails, ads, and marketing collateral.

The publication of Marc’s first novel, Uncle and Ants, gave him permission to claim “author” as his job. This leads to much more interesting conversations with people than answering, “marketing.”

Like his character, Andy, from the Redwoods Country Mystery series, Marc continues to grow older and would prefer not to run a bed-and-breakfast inn when he retires. Like his character, Marty, from the Silicon Valley Mystery series, Marc now lives in Silicon Valley, works in high-tech, and enjoys bad puns. Like his characters Jonas and Elizabeth from the Ozarks Lake Mystery series, he grew up in the South and spent plenty of time in and around Arkansas. Like all his protagonists, Marc too has a dog, although his is neurotic, sweet, and small, with little appreciation for Marc’s humor.

It took me forever to get into book #1. But, I stuck with it and I am glad I did. Once I got to know the characters, I began to care about them and that's when the story started to get interesting. Marc spins some great story with interesting people and some crazy scenarios. Lots of smiles and chuckles along the way. Glad I stuck around, and these three were a good summer read.

Marty is such a goof. You just want to smack some sense into him. Dr. Kevin Leman, Christain Psychologist, explained a man's brain. While the wife is giving him a list of chores, his mi d stops on the first item as he begins to make his own list. He never hears what the wife says. This is Marty. He is so dumb, but ends up smart. I loved his Halloween costume in Chutes And Ladder. I bust out laughing. Very humorous books.

The author does a decent job of describing the characters, but the lead is supposedly a software designer/programmer, and he is not believable to me. I did like the idea of a driverless car and understand the problems of getting such an idea developed, but that was one of the best parts of the book and had little to do with the solving of the mysteries.
I know the assumption is that techs are not socially able, but this is ridiculous. If it is satire, I am missing it. I read all three, just to give the author a fair chance. Maybe he'd get better as the books progressed. I just got more frustrated. Some software designers are socially inept in some instances, (say, large groups, but good one on one) but Marty (our lead) is socially inept everywhere. Sorry Mr. Jedel, but I won't be reading any more.

Super fun read! I loved all of the books and couldn't put them down. Great quirky characters, placed in wacky situations with an endearing hero. Cozy mysteries with a modern flair. Set in Silicon Valley, with the future-oriented technology, smart, strong women, and representation from various ethnic groups, the setting provides a fantastic backdrop for Marty's shenanigans. Filled with surprising twists and turns, it made me laugh while still uncertain of the outcomes until the very end.

I loved this wonderful, quirky series. Marty Golden is a brilliant software engineer for a driverless car company. He is also a bumbling boyfriend, struggling uncle and EXCELLENT crime solver (in his mind, anyway). Marty’s adventures mimic the lives of many an Aspie (as I well know) and his internal monologues caused me to laugh loud enough to scare my cat.
If you enjoy Amy Vansant’s Pineapple Port series, or if Daisy Wick was your favorite Bones character, you will love this series. It is clean and delightful.
And don’t miss book 4 in the series, “Huh, Why and Punch”. It’s so worth your time!

Uncle Marty , well, I had to keep putting it down, couldn’t stand all the silly behavior of a grown man. The plots were decent, so I came back again and again, just to find out “what happened next.” Guess that means the novels were better than I gave them credit for.

The other stories were VERY samey and I started to lose patience with the chief character who gets more and more irritating as I progressed and I gave up shortly after beginning the third book as I realised it was only the names that were changing - sorry, it might be a really good read but it just wasn't for me
