Sanguine Spell: A Young Adult Urban Fantasy Novel (Bloodline Academy Book 3) Kindle Edition
Sometimes the pull of darkness is stronger than the light…
To hell with Bloodline Academy. To hell with the Supernatural Light Alliance.
The only thing I care about is to avenge my mother’s untimely death. And apparently, the only way to do that is by leaving Louisiana and ending up in the Carpathian Mountain range across Europe at Silverstone Academy, a hidden school for the Silver Shadows werewolves.
Hanging out with werewolves who are deeply suspicious of vampires wasn’t part of the plan. But at least my boyfriend and besties have come along for the ride. Oh, and the other advantage of our new placement: we’re now just a cavernous skip-and-a-hop away from the ultra-creepy Cachtice Castle, the Blood Countess’s last known whereabouts and likely the current ones of my mom’s killer.
As we settle in at Silverstone Academy and secrets start to unravel, I find myself seeking out a Sanguine vampire from my past.
And my past is about to return – big time…
Bloodline Academy is a brand-new, exciting urban fantasy series with a strong heroine who battles darkness inside and out, some powerful but cliquey witches, savage (and gorgeous) vampires with big tickets on themselves, and a bad boy werewolf with a good heart.
The level of action, romance and intensity increases with each instalment so buckle up and enjoy the twisted ride!

Ahava Trivedi grew up in the south of England and almost on a whim one day, decided to up and move to Toronto, Canada with her sister. She is mostly a fiction author who, similar to her hasty move across the pond, likes to explore different genres that interest her by diving headlong into them first and figuring out her story as she goes along.
Ahava is currently writing some humorous reads that have taken shape as The Hopeless Husband Series. The first book in the series, 'The Anniversary', is out now and the next ones will be available very soon!

I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
This book was absolutely amazing. I have been (im)patiently waiting for the release of this book and the author did NOT disappoint with it.
The characters are back and better than ever! More secrets are exposed and more action packed than book one and two. There’s new characters that add to the high pressures. There revenge, light vs dark, more S.L.A. politics, and so much more.
We go to new academies in a new place. Discovery and exploring these new places was so much fun and full of twists and turns. Wonderfully written in a way that sucks you right into the story along side these characters.
A MUST read series that you won’t regret reading!! A brilliant new world to escape too that is both fascinating and terrifying all at the same time. Whose side will you be on? Can she find the truth and get revenge without getting herself or her friends killed? Will she stay with Ulric or choose the new guy? Read to find out! What are you waiting for?!
This book has deception, betrayal and romance with strong characters and awesome friendships. I love the loyalty between the main characters and can’t wait for the final book!
Let me first tell you because this review could also me my fault or blame. Recently I haven’t read a lot of YA books, only contemporary romance and something from “real” life, no magic. So for me to get into ya took a minute, but here we go.
This is the third book of the series and honestly I don’t know if the author does this on purpose but for me the beginnings of the books are rather slow, too long and nothing is happening. In this book it took me about 68% to get into the book and finally get some action. Which is no bad. I’m saying this again, this might be my fault.
However even thought the first half of the book was “uneventful” for me, after that I couldn’t put the book down and I needed to know what will happen.
I also don’t know how to feel about a certain thing with a certain person slash people. Like I don’t know if I should be happy, angry, sad, excited or just kill him, haha.
I love Safi, Val and Nat so much! I wish I had friends like them. They are here for Kat no matter what, supporting her, going to the ends of the world for her. They are amazing and a blessing!
Ulric? Honestly I don’t know how to feel about him, I mean in a boyfriend material, he’s probably perfect! He’s sweet, sensitive, caring, protective etc. I liked him in the first two books, but when Moldark came I kind of switched sides. I mean, c’mon, Moldark is dark, handsome (so is Ulric) and just DARK! HAHA. But I don’t know how to feel right now about both of them.
In this book we’ve learned that Kat had to hide somewhere safe, she learned new things about her ancestor Esmeralda Quartz, the good and the book. She found support she needed before, she found downfalls. But through thick and thin she was able to stay herself and what she wants/needs!
The ending got me good! Like real, real good! I’m hoping that the forth and last book is not gonna start as the 3 before did. I’d still read it though, but I’m hoping. (No offense).
Overall I really liked this book. For me it’s more of a mild audience, meaning there’s no bad language (or maybe a tiny bit, but no swearing), no 18+ scenes. This is totally okay, not every books needs it! But I really liked this one, I can’t wait to read what lies ahead for Kat and her friends.
Every time I start a new book in this series it feels like Christmas morning! I can't put them down and I have to know what happens next!
In this book there are many more complicated circumstances than Kat has ever had to deal with. She learns more about her history and ancestors. Things are left on a huge cliffhanger, too. I am so eager to see what happens in book 4! I can't see how this is going to wrap up so quickly!

Following the death of her mother at the hands of her uncle Kallum, a bitter Kat turns her back on the Bloodline Academy as well as the S.L.A for failing to intercede in saving her mother. Her one thought now is vengeance. Having learned that her uncle has fled to Cachtice Academy in Slovakia, Kat and her friends set out for the infamous Carpathian Mountains where they are given refuge by the Principal of Silverstone Academy, which is home to the Silver Shadows werewolves. While Ulric receives a warm welcome, Natalie and Valenthia are regarded with suspicion as vampires and werewolves are natural enemies. Blood is especially a no go zone which causes problems when Natalie and Valenthia (and even Kat) begin to slowly starve.
Infiltrating Cachtice Academy is no easy feat, however, as it’s guarded by dark magic. Not only did Countess Elizabeth Bathory spend her last days imprisoned there but it also happens to be the foothold of the Dark Legion, the insidious group who have plans for Kat that neither she, the S.L.A or the New Orlean vampires have fully begun to fathom.
To gain admission, Kat must reach out to someone from the Sanguine Guild of Europe. Aware of his connections, Kat contacts Moldark Whitlock who has recently transferred to Cachtice Academy where Kallum Bathory also happens to be teaching. He agrees to help her and even supplies her with some much needed blood. Unfortunately her secret trysts with Moldark cause a strain on her relationship with her friends and especially Ulric, who sees him as a threat and not to be trusted. With Kat beginning to feel a strange pull towards Moldark, are his concerns valid?
Sanguine Spell is the third explosive installment of the Blood Academy series and what an exciting continuation of the series it was. Once again the author has intricately woven a complex suspense filled plot full of unexpected twists and turns. All three books have been by no means easy reads. The world building has been phenomenal throughout making it apparent that a lot of thought has been put in.
While some of the faces from the previous books return, several new characters are introduced. Principal Silverstone in particular was a welcome addition. With her help and as more secrets about Esmeralda’s life are uncovered, Kat learns the true extent of her ancestry. The story arc between Kat and Moldark was an interesting development as was the jaw dropping return of an infamous antagonist whose scenes with Kat positively crackled with tension.
Strong female leads, political infighting, secret allies, hidden agendas, betrayal.. this instalment has it all. Coupled with the ominous development at the end, the author has paved the way for an exciting fourth instalment which I can’t wait to read. Highly recommended.
