Score (San Francisco Thunder Book 1) Kindle Edition
From the author of the Hometown Players series comes a “sexy, sassy” second chance romance between a playboy hockey star and the one woman who got away (Library Journal).
Jude Braddock. Hockey god. That's how everyone sees him now. But when they were teenagers, Zoey knew him as the kid who didn't have enough nerve to make a move on their one and only disastrous date. Seems he doesn't have that problem anymore, though. According to the rumors, he's with a different woman every night. After a rough divorce, the last thing Zoey needs is more heartbreak. But Jude's cocky, playful attitude is mighty hard to resist.
Jude knows he isn't built for long-term relationships. But he's getting sick of women pounding on his door in the middle of the night looking for a rematch. When Zoey comes back into his life, it's like fate has given him a second chance. He'll do anything to make her happy again. Is this what love looks like? He has no idea. All he knows for sure is that this time, he's playing for keeps.
“Denault launches a new series, featuring the bad boys of the San Francisco Thunder, with gusto, passion and heaps of tension and sensual detail. Several genre-defying complications makes the story feel unexpectedly fresh.” —RT Book Reviews

About the author

Victoria Denault loves ocean air, seventies music, strong heroines and flawed heroes.
Victoria, her husband and her dog Maximus split their time between Canada and France where they live in a 225 year old home with character and more spiders than she cares to think about. When not writing books she can usually be found on a beach somewhere. Victoria is repped by Kimberly Brower at Park, Fine & Brower.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2017Victoria Denault has scored big and totally won my heart with her new hockey series, The San Francisco Thunder. I loved everything about this book, from the romance to the dynamic secondary characters. This book came to life and all of the characters had my complete attention.
Jude Braddock is the living, breathing, sex god of the San Francisco Thunder. Not only does he score big on the ice, he also scores big with the ladies. His bedroom moves are legendary. His "hockey stick" is an internet sensation. So how could a man of this caliber have women problems? Very easily, he hasn't been discreet nor has he been careful with his tryst. Women are showing up on his doorstep, his phone is ringing all hours of the night, and his sexual escapades are on the internet. Maybe it's time to move and become more discreet, The one thing he won't do is settle down to one woman. That is until he runs into his sisters ( the sorority) former babysitter, Zoey. Zoey is the one girl that got away. This time around he's going to make sure he catches her and doesn't ply her with Boones Farm wine. This time he's doing the seduction right.
Zoey has just split from her husband. The divorce procedures have turned quite nasty. She's working her tail off trying to establish a new career in real estate while trying to hang onto what is rightfully hers. When she runs into her childhood friends, the Braddocks, it makes life seem a little better. Reuniting with old friends is what she needed. Hooking up with Jude Braddock is a bonus. First she has to finalize her divorce and get her feet on solid ground. She also needs to stay away from Boones Farm wine at all cost.
Zoey and Jude are doing more than rekindling an old friendship. They are falling in love, but it's going to take a miracle before either one admits it. Miracles are known to happen.
I absolutely loved every moment in this book, from the snarky sorority sisters to the team dynamics, every character added something exceptionally special to Zoey and Jude's romance.
I have read every novel Victoria Denault has written. Score is my favorite book thus far. Her growth as a writer and character development has excelled by leaps and bounds. I can't wait to see what comes next in the San Francisco Thunder series.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2018I enjoyed this more than I thought I was going to. I've never read this author before. Honestly, I bought it cause it was the infamous book that actor and comedian Paul Scheer read after tweeting about the cover of another one of her books while making fun of it. He then did the honorable thing after being called out for his ignorance and live tweeted while he read the book. Score went on sale for 1.99 on eBook and I had to see what all the fuss was about!
Hockey themed romance is slowly but surely becoming a new favorite sub-genre of mine! I don't even know what it is. I just love it.
So Jude and Zoey knew each other as teens and had an almost fling that ended poorly because of too much alcohol. Then didn't see each other for 10 years. Jude became a super playboy, sleeping with tons of women. Zoey got married and is in the process of a divorce at the beginning of the book.
I didn't like Jude much because of his playboy ways. Thankfully, the author didn't write him having any current side chicks or flings. I would have super hated that! He's had a nude photo scandal and been trying to lay low so he doesn't get in more trouble with his team managers. I did not like how insistent he was that commitment wasn't in him. He tried to have a series relationship but cheated on his gf and then she started dating his teammate and best friend. For the first half of the book, while he's totally into Zoey, and it obvious he likes her for more than just sex, he won't acknowledge that it's more than that. It was a bit annoying. BUT, once he did acknowledge that he has no desire to sleep with anyone but Zoey, be with anyone but Zoey, he embraces those feelings and openly says they're dating and that she is his girlfriend. His redeeming qualities in the beginning were his love and commitment to his family and friends and helping those less fortunate than he.
I LOVED Zoey. She was a great heroine. Yes she has moments of weakness, as we all do, but then she goes and stands up for herself! She doesn't take crap from her ex husband and when Jude messes up, she doesn't take crap from him either. I was so happy to see her wait to sleep with Jue until after her divorce was official! Even though they'd been separated for months, she was the kind of person who honored her commitment even though her ex hadn't. It was great. And I loved how even though she was scared of her strong feelings, it didn't stop her from talking about them and telling Jude how she felt. I loved that.
And WOWEE the sex was HOT! I lost track of how many scenes there were. I usually try to count them so I can say how many there are for other readers to be aware of, but there were so many I gave up. I want to say at least six. And they were all different and unique experiences (I hate it when there's multiple scenes but they're all done in the same positions). The love scenes are detailed and borderline the kind of scenes you'd find in erotica! It was hot but the emotion was still there too. It was great.
So 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion. There are other books I've enjoyed more, but this one was still really good. I will definitely read the next book and the rest of the series as it comes out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice hockey romance.
I love hockey and any book that involves hot hockey gods I'm hooked. Ms Denault gives us a novel that exposes one of the hot sexual man who're. Is he redeemable and is Zoey the woman who will forgive and open a new beginning for him. This book is well written and the characters are very interesting. I adore the sorority girls. So don't hesitate sit back and enjoy this entertaining book.
