Shattered Vow (Shadowblood Souls Book 1) Kindle Edition
There were six of us. Caged, turned into monsters, and tormented with brutal tests of our horrific emerging abilities.
We had only each other to count on... until our escape attempt ended with one dead, the others recaptured, and me dragged away into a different nightmare.
Now I've finally fought my way back to rescue them. Except the men I set free are hardened, beastly versions of the devoted boys I remember.
They see me as a traitor and a murderer—but they refuse to let me go now that they have me back.
They have no idea that the greatest threat may be the new darkness that’s woken up inside me.
I don’t know how to control it. And if these men break me, I could destroy us all.
*Shattered Vow is the first in a new urban fantasy series for those who love savagely possessive men and fierce heroines who'll fight for what's theirs.*

- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2022I struggled with what to give this because it's not a poorly written book by any stretch but still I felt disappointed reading. I was not expecting the miscommunication trope to last for a majority of the book. I love dark romance and love dark characters but the guys treat her terribly for a majority of the book and pretty much right from the beginning. Those glimpses you get from the past weren't enough for me to feel satiated to continue (even though I did finish the book). The characters besides Riva seem shallow despite you getting into their POV you don't really get to know or care for any of them imo. SPOILERY TALK AHEAD!!
The reason why the guys believe anything a guardian says over Riva is not satisfactory to me given how long all the characters delve into their experience in the facility and the resolution to it feels rushed and not satisfactory. The amount of groveling that would need to occur for me to feel satisfied is high and I know it won't be enough given she was already saying she feels bad and wants to forgive the second one of them apologized.
Some positive notes: I found Riva to be an enjoyable protagonist. The overall plot of people with powers, dodgy government or secret powerful groups was interesting and wanting to know more about that kept me going through the book more than the supposed romance.
Enough for me attempt to buy book 2 and see if my feelings improve now that miscommunication isn't a major plot point.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2023This book was better than I thought it was going to be. I love how strong Riva is and that she wasn't a typical damsel in distress. That she rescued them.
I like how she stood her ground when the guys went too far. Yes she followed their leed but she wasn't a push over. She was trying to gain their trust back even though she didn't do anything wrong.
**spoiler** The only thing I didnt like is how she kept thinking she was a monster because of her new power but the guys powers werent. I get hiding it because they didn't trust her yet but at the end during the fight she was holding back until the last second because she thought the guys would think she is a monster and her whole monolog was a bit dramatic and had to roll my eyes. News alert they are all "monsters". With tenticals, sucking the life out of things, turning into wolves and poisonous spikes.
I hope she gives the boys hell in the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2023Warning: this does end on a small cliffhanger, rating about 4/5 on my trauma scale. Fortunately, the rest of the story is already out, so no worries!
Note: might want to keep your tissues handy.
Six victims of perverse experiments, and one fateful night leaves Riva on her own, with the terrible memory of the death of one of her companions.
Kept captive, forced to fight, an unusual event grants her the freedom to seek out the other four men who she had left behind, and try to free them.
The only problem is, when she finds them, they think she’s a traitor, and responsible for the death of their companion…
I truly felt sorry for Riva throughout this book, because she has been through so much, was so hopeful, only to have it dashed time and time again.
While I’d have to place a lot of the blame on Jake, the knowledge that it was his twin who died kind of makes his reaction explicable, so there are definitely others who could have stepped up: Zian, Dominic, Andreas- but they don’t. By the end of the book, I admit to wanting to throw it at one of them, and hope that it might knock some sense into them!
Not that Riva didn’t earn her own smacks: she was far too trusting and naïve, though the latter should also be expected considering, but you think she might have learned as they went on and she dealt with the issues they threw at her.
This was a fascinating story I could barely tear myself away from, with a rather interesting premise (I do love a good “mad scientist experiment” story), and some truly intriguing characters. I look forward to seeing where the rest of the story leads.
A fascinating story for the urban fantasy enthusiast to enjoy.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2025I agree with Riva's assessment that her guys should have known her well enough to see through the lies the guardians told them about how she sold them out.
Their story makes no sense. Why the heck would they want Gabriel dead? Why would they see fit to reward Riva for the escape?
Totally not believable guys! she raced to find and save you immediately after gaining her own freedom and you treated her even worse than the guardians treated you. That makes you guys worse than the people you hate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant series Starter.
I Loved this book!!
This book was all go from the first chapter, Riva is strong, Brave and extremely Loyal. The Guys (well the jury is still out on them). There was loads going on with quick pacing and loads of action. None of that stopped you from really feeling for Riva.
This book made me Cry and i can't wait for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good!
This is my second series from this author. She writes such good plot, builds up the relationships rather than the instalove/lust, can't get enough of these characters!! So glad the next books are out 😅 gonna dive into them straight away. Ooh, that ending 😍

5.0 out of 5 stars Great plot, Full of emotions and doesn't just derail for smut.
When I first opened Shattered Vow, I figured it would take the same turn as most of the Reverse Harem books I have read. However, I could not be more pleased, than ever with a Paranormal Reverse Harem book, this book while it bounces between characters, doesn't stop an entire plot line, for a round of smut. It flows smoothly. I honestly could not put this book down, and can't wait to read more.
Author keep up the good work!

5.0 out of 5 stars I just breathed it
Okay, I must be honest. I wasn't expecting that much because I've had a hard time finding a book to read with enthusiasm over the last few weeks. But this book... I literally inhaled it. The story is so enticing, so full of interesting turns that it captivated me. I read it in less than a day, and I can't wait to read the following books.
Riva is amazing. She's strong, resilient and patient, something I haven't seen in a FMC in a long while. Everything she went through just made her stronger, but it was hard to read about the way Jake treated her. If I were in her place, I would've smacked his face. Sure, she's caring some guilt, and I guess that made her accept his bullshit, but it was hard seeing how bad they thought of her.
I sense there's redemption coming their way, but I'm hoping Riva will make them suffer a little, after all, it's only fair, right?
Loved the book!
