Shifting Ground (Fisher of Time Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 48 ratings

He might have stopped his killing ways too soon.

Senecus, an immortal in Amsterdam, finds the monsters he’s after are more numerous and organized than expected. But the hunt must continue, and he trains his family and colleagues for the coming conflicts.

But the efforts of Old and New World allies may not be enough to defeat the deadly threats they face.

The fight becomes personal when traitors in the Church try to kill his partner, Jo. She and Sen escape, leading to events that may change the world. But later, things go wrong when Sen is captured and brutally tortured by Caius, his old Roman nemesis, now a master vampire.

With his life hanging in the balance, Jo must gather her strike team and lead a mission to free Sen. Will she make it in time, or are the immortal’s days finally numbered?

The Fisher of Time series is contemporary urban fantasy and includes international settings, crime, historical events and characters, all in a world inhabited by immortals, supernatural beings, and science so strange it can only be magic.

A lot of urban fantasy follows one of four or so formulas. This breaks the mold and is a completely unique plot. The MC is interesting, likeable, and grows as a person. The pacing is steady and the book is hard to put down. The female MC Jo is not very likeable, but perhaps she will improve. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed the characters and the forays into quantum theory. Author sets it in modern day times with hint if our future.

Adventures are terrifying voyages done by others who tell the tales later. 2nd book in an interesting series. I’m about to start the third book
