- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2025Rayne Hall never disappoints. I adore this book. I borrowed it from Kindle but I enjoyed it so much I ended up purchasing my own copy. It always gets me back on track. This book is a very good motivational tool to get writers back on track after a long break from writing. I wish Rayne Hall taught a class based on this book I would be the first author to sign up. A must read. The techniques in this book are amazing and very unique. After applying the techniques you will create a jewel of a story.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2023I own a number of Rayne Hall books, and every one of them are helpful and motivating to continue to improve my writing and attempt to publish again after 10 years of feeling lost.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2022This is a good book to study. I learned a lot from this author. Didn't know how to handle writhing short stories. There are good step by step explanations for anything a person wants to know.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much more than advice
Rayne's incisive advice is invaluable. There is concrete advice on how to best deploy what you already know and resources at hand to construct a story. The way we use this to our best advantage, Rayne suggests, is bringing Artist Brain in to play whilst giving Editor Brain a holiday - and vice versa. Each side of the brain has its own set of tasks and works best in specific conditions. This has the effect of allowing the writer to perform at optimum efficiency without overload - such as over-editing or too much butterfly-thinking at the wrong time.
I particularly found writing ghost stories and Christmas stories of interest.
A sound book: I thoroughly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and Inspirational
Although I don't write in this author's genres and have had 70 flash fiction stories published as well as a novel, I found this book helpful, particularly chapters 1, 11, 18, and 22. I'm glad I purchased the print version as for me this will be a handy reference book to use long-term.
