About the authors
Cloaked Press is an indie publisher of Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Horror. We were founded in 2017 and are committed to finding unique stories to delight the imaginations of readers.
Sara Crocoll Smith (she/her) is the author of the ghostly gothic horror series Hopeful Horror. She’s also the award-winning editor of the Love Letters to Poe anthologies.
Smith is a screenwriter and producer for “The Strangle of Ivy,” a short film adapted from Smith’s gothic horror story of the same name.
Smith enjoys exploring the depths of the human psyche in her stories. She’s drawn to horror that serves as a catharsis, facing and overcoming the Big Bad. She experiments with horror that is not confined to darkness, and you can often find sunlight and nature in her rich, atmospheric works.
For an exclusive morsel of ghosts and daylight horror, visit SaraCrocollSmith.com/Ivy to get the free short story "The Strangle of Ivy."
Nicholas Poe is an author and podcaster from Nashville, TN. His first book, Selection Day, is scheduled to be released through De Novo Press in the coming weeks. One of his short stories won a Creative Expression for Prose Award from Middle Tennessee State University. He has published seven stories in the Antihumanist Magazine, Cloaked Press, and Behind the Vision among others. Aside from writing books, Nicholas writes and co-hosts a music history podcast with his wife (with frequent guest appearances from their two cats) called Sound of History. Barend Nieuwstraten III grew up and lives in Sydney, Australia, where he was born to Dutch and Indian immigrants. He has worked in film, short film, television, music, and online comics. He is now primarily working on a collection of stories set within a high fantasy world, a science fiction alternate future, as well as a steampunk storyverse, often dipping his toes in horror in the process. With ever seventy stories published in anthologies and magazines, and his first novel 'A Man Called Boy' now available, he continues to work on short stories, stand-alone novels, and an epic series.
A discovery writer not knowing what will happen when he begins typing, he endeavours to drag his readers on the same unknown journey through the fog of his subconscious.

Andrew P. McGregor’s characters don’t stand against the apocalypse. They crawl out from under it, laughing through the blood, jamming something sharp down its throat, and flying their wrecked starships into something worse. He writes science fiction where hope is optional, ammo is not—sharp-edged, brutal, and sometimes grinning.
He is the author of:
Starships & Apocalypse – short story collections where cowardice and courage trade places, and survival often requires something explosive left in inappropriate places.
The Shellworld Conflict Series – set in a stellar-sized construct ruled by alien trustees, where humanity is a pawn, a weapon, and an excellent excuse for someone else’s war.
J. L. Royce (@authorJLRoyce) is an author of science fiction and macabre stories who strays (when left unattended) into noir, horror, and non-genre fiction. He resides in the United States upper Midwest, where he listens for inspiration from the coyotes and owls. Follow him on X/Twitter (@authorJLRoyce), Bluesky (jlroyce), Instagram (authorJLRoyce), and Facebook.
James Pyles is a published Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror author. He currently has over 60 short stories and novelettes published in various anthologies and periodicals. His breakout science fiction space opera novel "Our Legacy the Stars: A Tom Corbett Adventure" is based on the 1950s television show, updating the characters and science for our modern understanding. He lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife.
MR Wells is a former civil servant turned steampunk loving aspiring writer, currently living his best life in South Wales in the UK.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2023Enjoyable read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2022A little too politically correct in spots for my taste, but overall a readable collection of contemporary sci fi. Y,all
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2023I read the first story and thought it was just ‘ok’. I stopped reading the second story due to poor quality. Same with the third. Then I deleted my download. Don’t wast your time. There is a lot of great sci-fi out there - go find it.
