Simon Says: (Bad Girls, Grumpy Bosses Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 81 ratings

As the pandemic draws to a close, people are gathering again. Their social skills are rusty but the need for human contact entices many to New Year’s Eve parties.

Finally, elusive billionaire Simon can pursue the object of his desire. Unaware of his interest in her, Sadie treasures her independence as a satisfied single.

Living alone she can do whatever she likes. And she likes shopping. Loves it in fact. Online. In person. Anything for the endorphin rush of bagging the next shiny new thing.

Simon has three basic rules when he wants something: follow his instincts, research the target, and make his move. Losing is not an option. When he learns that Sadie is sliding toward financial ruin, he decides to step in.
Simon’s methods are swift and stern. Sadie is smitten but wary. Her trust isn’t easily won but their future shows promise.

Then tragedy from Simon’s past destroys his usual restraint. Sadie sees a different side of him and wonders if she has made a terrible mistake.

This steamy, contemporary romance series is intended for a mature audience. Scenes depicting power exchanges and sensual intimacy may be unsuitable for some readers.

Author’s note: This is a revised and expanded (more than 40% longer!) version of this book, originally published in 2016.
All the books in the Bad Girls, Grumpy Bosses series can be read as standalone novels, the first three books will flow better if they are read in sequential order: Simon Says (book 1), Winning Sadie (book 2), and Sadie Says I Do (book 3).

The remaining books in the series are:

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Thank you for reading Simon Says. It was my debut novel in this genre and now, with the benefit of five years' experience, I know it could have been much better. I hope you will find all the books that follow an improvement on this first effort.
I love Simon and Sadie, but I think I might have shown more of Simon's better side because he does have one. He just keeps it well hidden.
I only started to
begin to understand him in book two, Winning Sadie.

Strong men and feisty women populate the books of Libby Campbell, USA Today bestselling author. Her fast-paced stories are full of challenges and setbacks. Each couple finds their joyful HEA only after major differences have been resolved with classic dom/sub discipline.

Some of these stories span one hundred years or more, through the magic of time travel. Others take you on a fantasy ride to a faraway galaxy or into the life of a stern billionaire. Some romances are contemporary. Her current series (release date December 2021) will step back in time to the roaring 20’s, 1920’s that is.

I absolutely loved this book! Simon is a very wealthy business man and widower. He knows what he wants and needs in a relationship and when he meets Sadie he thinks he might just have found the right woman. Everyone is a product of their life experiences and Sadie may wear hers on her sleeve more than most. She tends to deflect her feelings with a sizable dash of sarcasm and an embellishment of the truth here and there, when she doesn't think something is a big deal. Her main coping mechanism is shopping and that is becoming a problem. She's also, funny, kind and very smart. When Simon enters her life and shows her his world she is excited, happy and a bit overwhelmed. She appreciates his help in getting control over certain behaviors but when she doesn't take seriously the rules she and Simon agree upon, she discovers he can be quite stern. This story is as fast paced as Simon's work schedule. We see both Simon and Sadie's worlds through the eyes of each other as they let themselves trust and open up to someone new. The side characters are fully fleshed out and really add to the story as they encourage their friends to grab a chance at happiness. This is book one in a 3 part series but has a "happy for now ending" that was very satisfying. I really felt the emotional pull on this couple as they deal with their pasts and strive to make a future together. I found their story romantic, steamy and laugh out loud funny along with some sadness - just like life. I cannot wait for book 2 to continue this couple's story and I highly recommend you read this one now!

Two strong and independent people! He is very powerful and set in his ways. She is use to doing her thing whenever, wherever and pay for the consequences later but with Simon he trys to make her tow the line and she does try but her strong, independent ways get her in futher touble.I have never read a series with so much dominants, Simon comes across to me has if you do it my way or not but when I read futher in the story I realized that he is trying keep Sadie safe not just fly of and not think of the consequences. I can't wait to futher the next chapter!

Five stars for Simon Says, the first book of the "Simon In Charge" series; I loved it! A delightful couple, featuring Simon, a dominant, alpha, man who is used to-- and determined to--rule the world, starting with Sadie. Simon is a widower who, when he finally found Sadie, was determined to keep her safe, and encourage her to take care of herself. They adore each other, and although he seems quite a stern and controlling man, does it out of a desire to keep her safe. Sadie, quite unprepared for him to be as strict as he was, wasn't quite sure how to react. I loved this precious love story, and highly recommend it!

In Simon Says, the first book I the Bad Girls, Grumpy Bosses series by Libby Campbell, readers meet Sadie Donohue and Simon. She is a ITT geek, teacher and problem fixer. She is feisty, smart-mouthed, and a curvy beauty. He is a handsome, athletic, rich alpha male, and the owner and CEO of Fenshaw International, an investment owner. He witnesses her outrageous behavior at a function they both attended and is instantly attracted to her. He goes about setting events in motion to bring her into his life. Unbeknownst to Sadie at the time, Simon claims her as his. He intends to help her modify her behavior. What follows is their tumultuous romantic journey. Will they find happiness? You must read this book to discover their journey.

Ms. Campbell is skilled in creating multi-dimensional characters in Sadie and Simon. Using dialog, POV, and descriptive language she allows readers to discover their backstories, the insecurities that make them vulnerable, and their deep hidden desires. Although Simon has potential, I found his antics a bit too much for my liking. Similarly, Sadie’s sabotaging efforts did not appeal to me. I was intrigued with the plot line his excessive dominance disturbed me, however, I am not sure if I will continue to read this series. I will have to see.

Mislabeled as a rom-com with spanking. Lots of beatings, the marks of which "show how much [the heroine sees herself as being] loved and cherished.". Nothing erotic, nothing romantic, everything abusive. Hero (?) has control obsession. Characterization is shallow, the characters unbelievable, the plot weak.

I did enjoy this book! This is a story of Sadie and Simon being in a DD relationship. While they are dating he has rules for her to obey about her finances, safety, mouth and health. She's kinda hit and miss about what she remembers around obeying the rules. LOL There was a lot of humor and spankings. I did like Simon throughout the book because he always cared about Sadie. I do hope Libby Campbell has more books coming out! 5 stars

Billionaire Simon had been a widower for 6 years, and finally decided it was time to move on. He saw Sadie at a hockey game a month earlier and had her thoroughly investigated. She had a few rough edges but she was a good woman and he planned to make her his own. Finally he set it all in motion for them to come together. On their dinner date he came to the point an laid out the relationship ground rules to her. There would be no more lying, piling up additional credit card debt, and obedience would be required of her at all time if they were to have a relationship. It was also made clear to her that if she disobeyed him she would get her bottom spanked. She agrees to his terms and their journey begins. She learns quickly that spankings really hurt, but she finds herself feeling loved and cared for after each spanking. Love begins to blossom between them. She tests him a lot as they work out their new normal.

I'm glad I hadn't read these although they'be been on my Kindle for a while. Now I can read one after the other even though they're all stand alone books. Simon is definitely the Master of his Own Destiny and Sadie is my kind of girl - a combination of sweet and sass who can hold her own against Simon. I'm off to read the second and can't wait for the third which is due to be released shortly.
