Sin Bin (Carolina Comets) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 4,434 ratings

I should stay away.

Emilia Anderson is the team’s social media manager, and there are strict rules about not fraternizing with the staff. It doesn’t matter that we already accidentally broke them—we can’t let it happen again.

Besides, my time in the league is winding down, and this is my last shot at winning the Cup. I need to focus on the game, not some girl I have no business chasing.

She’s ten years younger than me.
She’s the assistant coach’s niece.
And she works for the team.

She’s off-limits…and too hard to resist.

I know better than to play this game...

But it looks like I’m heading to the
sin bin.

SIN BIN is a standalone age-gap hockey romantic comedy. It features an older hero (late 30s), a younger heroine (late 20s), and a forbidden romance. There is lots of steam, wit, fun, and a happy ending.

TEAGAN HUNTER writes steamy romantic comedies with lots of sarcasm and a side of heart. She loves pizza, hockey, and romance novels, though not in that order. Sexy and heart swooning forbiden sport romance
I'm following the series from the beginning and every time I finish a new book, I have a new favorite . They all have such great chemistry between their characters and the way they fall in love is exquisite, but my favorite was Ryan and Rhodes story, Blind Pass. And now my new favorite is this one . Emilia works for the public relations team of the Carolina Comets. After a breakup she decides to move near her uncle who helps her get the job. During one of those first nights in the city, she meets an irresistible stranger with whom she shares a night stand. A few months later, she meets him again at her new place of work . Owen Smith is the veteran of the team, his whole life dedicated to the game until the night he met Emilia. They mutually agreed to pretend that nothing had happened but it only worked while they kept their distance but when a new assignment makes them work together it is impossible to keep denying what they feel for each other . The story flows between that night stand and the present with a perfect slow burn in which it is inevitable not to fall in love with them and enjoy every part, a really good page turner . Sexy, hot and heart swooning forbiden sport romance between a grumpy Hockey player and a sunny workaholic public relations with age gap

‘Sin Bin’ is the fourth book in the ‘Carolina Comets’ series and just like the previous books in the series, I enjoyed this story very much. This story is about NHL player Owen Smith and Emilia Anderson, who’s the team’s social media manager. Both were secondary characters in the previous books. It was very clear in those stories that something was going on between them, that they had history together and now we finally find out what happened between them a few years ago.

The first time that Owen and Emilia met was at a bar. Both were there to forget their troubles, there was chemistry between them from the start and they left the bar together. They had an steamy one-night stand and during their time together they exchanged no private information and while they both enjoyed it, they agreed to say goodbye and go their separate ways. So it was a big shock when they met for the second time and discovered that they both worked for the Carolina Comets team (Emilia was new to the job). They agreed to never mention that night again and to act professional. They did that for 2,5 years, it wasn’t easy but they kept their distance and acted professional. But now things are changing, Owen is 38 years old, he’s one of the oldest hockey players on the team and rumors are going around. Will he stop playing hockey or not? Hockey has been his love/life for so long. He can’t imagine a life where he isn’t playing hockey. So a future without hockey causes him a lot of stress.
Emilia loves her job, at 28 years old, she’s at the beginning of her career. So when her boss tells her that she’s leaving and that Emilia has a great chance at getting her job (director of all media relations with the NHL team) she’s very excited about this great opportunity. That’s her dream job! But there is one catch, to prove herself she will have to work closely together with Owen. The attraction between them is still there, growing with each moment they spend together. But giving in could cost them everything. There are strict rules against fraternizing between the staff. They could both lose their jobs (which they love) by giving in. But sometimes you have to break the rules and hope it’s worth it in the end.

The story was again told from both POV’s. I liked this story very much, just like the previous stories, it was light, easy to read, filled with funny banter but it also had emotional and steamy moments. I was very happy that during the story we got glimpses of their first meeting.

Owen was an interesting character. In the previous books we got to know him as a loner, a grumpy hockey player. He wasn’t he big star of the team but he’s a teammate you could count on, on and off the ice. Everyone went to him for advice, he’s patient and intelligent. He was one of the lucky ones, having played for the same team throughout his hockey career. Hockey was his passion and life. So it was hard for him to imagine a life without it. Especially because his teammates were his best friends and you could even say his family. He was afraid of losing it all.

Emilia was a great character too, she was passionate about her job, a hard worker, a great colleague and friend. I liked her very much. There may be a big age gap of 10 years between her and Owen but they still had a lot in common. They made a great couple. The fact that they had to hide their affair and sneak around made it more excited but it also made me sad for them. They really belonged together, so during the story I had my fingers crossed, hoping that they found a way to be together and they did!! I really loved how they found a way to be together. It was the ‘perfect’ solution for their situation.

Just like in the previous stories, there were fun text messages in the story (I love those) and the banter in the story had me smiling. The sex scenes in the story were very steamy and to my surprise, Owen was a very dominant lover in the bedroom (and in other places) and Emilia was his ‘good’ girl. The chemistry between them was passionate and strong.

There were many familiar faces in the story. The guys had me laughing, they were so hilarious at times, especially Miller (I’m so curious to read his story) and just like the girls, they’re also very loyal and supportive friends. They’re a close group of friends. We also got to know the assistant coach (Emilia’s uncle) a bit more and also Emilia’s colleague Bruce. He was a great character too.

‘Sin bin’ was a great story. I’m looking forward to reading the next story in the series.

This is the first book I've read/listened to in this series and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed this story and how it played out. This age-gap, hockey romance had a twist when it came to their careers and I was there for it.

    Tropes:
    - Hockey Romance
    - Workplace Romance
    - Age-Gap (10yrs)
    - Coach's Niece
    - One Night Stand
    - Grumpy/Sunshine

Smith has been in the NHL for 15 years. It's been his entire life, and hockey has always been his first and only love.

Amelia took a job working for the social media department for her uncle's hockey team after a bad breakup. Before she starts her new career she is in the prowl for a one night stand to her over her ex. At the bar she meets Smith.

After a spicy 2 days, she leaves his place. They talked about everything but their careers. This book jumps from the past to present over the first few chapters. It's 2.5 years later and her and Smith pretty much stayed out of reach others way, never talking about what happened.

Now, Amelia is up for promotion and she has to do the player profile on Smith. The guy who never wants anything done on him or his life. He agrees to it but only if Amelia agrees to do all the work herself.

You can pretty much guess where it goes from there. The only issue is there is a no relationship policy between anyone at work. When Amelia gets her promotion she's told she has to let go of Smith for good. Still she chose her job, or love? It's quite shocking and I was a little disappointed with her decisions. She got mad at Smith for her decision...smh.

The narrating was amazing. They were really better than the book was in my opinion. They helped make this story with the way they read it and got into the emotions of things. I quite enjoyed listening to these two together.

I just never really got into this story, and it was more of a slog to finish it. I hate leaving a book unfinished, but I just didn't gel with the concept, I guess.
A 38 year old professional hockey player hooking up with a girl more than 10 years his junior, who is going for a promotion to run the magazine she is working at for 2 years, above staff who have been there for ages... it just didn't 'stick' for me.

Emilia meets Smith at a wedding and they have a very memorable time together. Two years pass before she meets him again and the sizzle is still there. She had no idea he was a sports man and she now works for his team and is up for a promotion. Problem is there is a strict no mixing policy. Its made worse when she is told to do a piece on him for the fans magazine. Smith usually ignores these requests but he sees it as a chance to see her again and they cant keep their hands off each other. Its got a bit of everything, funny, sexy and a good ending.

I have nothing but love for Teagan Hunter, so it surprises nobody that I am in love with and obsessed with her Carolina Comets series. Every book in the series has Teagan’s brand of humour and steam, and let’s not forget all of the hilarious and entertaining friendships and text messages. These are four things I’ve come to expect with her books and she delivered yet again. And I could not have started my weekend better than I did by picking up my ARC first thing this morning.

    Sin Bin has:
    ✨ a hockey romance!
    ✨ grumpy x sunshine
    ✨ second chance-ish
    ✨ so totally very forbidden
✨ a ten year age gap
    ✨ workplace romance
    ✨ incredible friends
    ✨ delicious dirty talk
    ✨ off the charts steam

When we got a hint of Emilia and Smith in One-Timer, I was desperate to know more. As the eldest member of the Comets, Smith’s known for his grumpy personality and his bachelor status, but also just being a really good hockey player. He doesn’t need much, because he’s doing fine with what he has. Emilia is young, hardworking and incredibly passionate about her job. And now that she’s set up for the promotion she’s always wanted, Emilia has to not only prove herself, but also keep her nose clean. And that’s something she’s finding hard to do when every time she crosses paths with Smith, all she can think about is the very hot and steamy weekend they shared together two and a half years ago. And worse still, the new memo going around the Comets office strictly prohibits players and staff members having any kind of relationship.

I freaking loved Smith. Which is also not much of a surprise since all of Teagan’s heroes are phenomenal. But Smith is truly the best of the Comets so far. He’s grouchy and silent and broody and grumpy, but he’s also a respected member of the team. Everyone likes him and respects him, they also love making fun of him and teasing him, but he’s just generally a good guy. Smith keeps a low profile and everything he does for other people is not for the fame or the fortune, but because he wants to help them. I love when grumpy heroes have a soft and squishy centre, it makes them so much more appealing. I also definitely appreciated the fact that not once did he claim to not wanting Emilia, he was just not sure a relationship was what was right for him, and the minute he lays eyes on her again…all bets are off.

Their relationship was insane. Think friends with benefits turns to lovers with a whole heap of forbidden thrown in and you have the romance that is brewing between Smith and Emilia. But that’s not all. Nope, Teagan took things up a notch in this book. We hit the ground running with the steam and the sexual chemistry (and tension, let’s be honest) and the way Smith handles and manhandles Emilia is just so flipping hot! A dash of praise kink and a lot of commanding just increased the steam in this book to a whole new level and I was not mad about it. I loved that it took a certain amount of trust and confidence in each other to do the things they did, but that’s what made it all so special and I loved every minute of it.

It was so great seeing Harper and Collin (from Puck Shy ), Ryan and Rhodes (from Blind Pass ) and Hollis and Lowell (from One-Timer ) again, especially given how many group scenes we got and how special all of them were. And let’s not forget Miller and his chaotic antics, plus, I’m very curious about Greer now. So I’m looking forward to a whole lot more Comets books in the future!
