"With their beat-up ship and eclectic group, comparisons with the fan favorite TV show Firefly are inevitable, but in more of the way of homage, since Burke and Jensen's characters take center stage all on their own." —Library Journal
Discover intergalactic romance and out-of-this-world stakes in the critically acclaimed Chaos Station series.
Zander Anatolius has been revived from the fatal effects of the super-soldier program, but now he has to face his estranged family and tell a story few would believe. With his lover and the crew of the Chaos at his side, Zander returns home to a media frenzy, threats from the military and pressure to join the family business.
Felix Ingesson still struggles with the horror of believing Zander dead. And no matter how strong their emotional connection is, Felix feels out of place in the glittery world of Zander's rich family. His lover would be better off without a broken, low-class ship's engineer holding him back.
When the crew receives word that another of Zander's former teammates needs rescue, Felix travels with the Chaos…setting Zander free. But when Zander is arrested for treason, the men realize they need each other as much as ever—not only to survive, but to make their lives worth living.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In the third Chaos Station space adventure (after Lonely Shore), series protagonist Zed returns home after being resurrected by the mysterious Guardians. His evil former military handlers think he's spying for aliens, leading to a desperate fight to keep Zed safe. Even if he survives the latest onslaught, Zed's tenuous relationship with his lover, Felix, may crumble. Cowriters Jensen and Burke fall into clich when Zed reconnects with his rich, powerful family and commoner Felix decides to leave him. Once it becomes clear that Zed might die a second time, he and the other characters move into high gear, their actions pushing them past space opera stereotypes (military vet, quirky alien, superspy, etc.) and turning them into people worth rooting for. The sex scenes are smoothly written, and they mix well with the plentiful speculative elements, though the dialogue feels more 21st-century than 23rd ("I'm only kind of okay"). Readers looking for queer characters in a pulpy space adventure should find a lot to like here.
Customer Reviews
Space opera done right.
"In their third novel, Burke and Jensen lay the groundwork for even more stories in this beautifully realized space opera setting. There are Lensman like moments of grandeur as the story unfolds, but it's their insights into how damaged characters can heal and grow to believe in themselves enough to love one another that makes this story stand out even more. They are heroes, often in spite of themselves, but they inspire us all the same. Highly recommended.
