A marriage made in heaven, a murder made in hell.

Why kill the man you love?

A whydunnit rather than a whodunnit, Sleep follows a woman on trial for killing her husband and his lover. Was it premeditated, a crime of passion, or a moment of madness? Told through a series of flashbacks and testimony, the struggles that Lizzy Dyson faced are revealed.

A suspense-filled psychological thriller, domestic noir, and courtroom drama. Sleep is a story about heartbreak and betray, and reveals what can drive a woman to murder.

Deals with the sensitive subjects of miscarriage, domestic violence and depression.

“A compelling domestic drama where the tragic build-up to an awful crime unfolds through the eyes of a desperate woman.” – SJI Holliday, Bestselling author of The Last Resort & Violet

“You’ll love Lizzy and you’ll hate her. You’ll want to hug her, you’ll want to slap her. But in the end, you’ll want to save her. An enthralling insight into one woman's shattered life, and the strength she must summon to rebuild it.” Michael Wombat, Author of The Raven’s Wing & Fog.

I love it when writers write like this. The story begins with the end, and then shows you how we get there. It takes quite a bit of skill for a writer to tell you how it ends and then keep you interested all the way through. But it worked. It worked very well.
This book is about a woman who kills her husband, even though she is truly trying to keep their troubled life together. And I'm not going to even hide it, I didn't feel bad for the husband and was cheering on the main character, his wife, all the way through. Yet this isn't the kind of book where you have a clear winner or even a clearly defined set of good guys and bad guys.
Most of the story is written from the point of view of a woman in prison coming to terms with what she has done. Yet each character noteworthy in the story has some sort of colored past or present. You quickly come to realise there aren't innocents here. Yet they aren't bad people, most of them anyway. The characters are all very genuine and flawed just as people are.
The whole book is a very honest and raw form of storytelling that is so refreshing to read. It's very human, and if there was an arc of justice in the story it wouldn't head in a straight line. It would be all over the place, yet it comes to a highly satisfying ending for the reader.
    Love it!

Lizzy is awaiting trial for murder, but is it a crime of passion or revenge? This highly emotional story slowly unfurls an insight into Lizzy’s state of mind, and deals with the issues of miscarriage and depression sensitively. Well written, with a strong central character, this is a great debut psychological thriller!

Sleep is the story of a woman, Lizzy, on trial for murdering her husband and his lover. Don’t worry, that’s not a spoiler! This novel works in reverse, retelling the events that led to Lizzy’s trial.

Although this is not a genre I typically read, the story is very well written and provides a glimpse into what drives a person to commit murder.

If you enjoy psychological crime novels then I’d highly recommend you check this out!

It was pretty straightforward. We learned about who Lizzy is, what happened, and her coming back to herself. The story kept to Lizzy and her past, her thoughts, kept me engaged. Didn't put in a lot of unnecessary details. Was very realistic in how it was handled. And I liked that we ended on a good note, that her issues were resolved and she was able to move forward.

Wow i had no idea what i was getting when i opened the cover of this book. It is the kind of story that draws you in and locks the door so you dont get lost. There were a few words I'd have preferred not to see but other than that it was perfect.

Lizzy murdered two people. She should have gotten more than ten years. She could always have walked away from her situation. The whole book was trying to show what a good person she was even though she stabbed two people to death.

This might have been a good book but when I saw the F word on the second page I could not read anymore.

A real page-turner, if you don't hate one of the characters ill be surprised I won't say which one just read it and find out, I could really feel the pain the main character had and what she went through. I think a few if not a lot of women will relate to some of the events in the book I know I did, well-done Miranda kate great book look forward to the next book,,

Very fast-paced with a compelling storyline. Not your average thriller: I found myself with very ambivalent feelings towards the protagonist, with constant shifts of perspective as the back-story that led up to the court case unfolded. Recommended read.

Lizzy's story will break your heart. I know it's fiction but I felt everything Lizzy was going through, the sensitive nature of the story is written in a way that you can't help feeling Lizzy's pain, it's hard to stopping reading. I didn't want to read the ending because I was worried about the outcome and how Lizzy would cope with the verdict. It's a book for everyone..

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping analysis of a crumbling mind

We know from the outset that our protagonist is a murderer - but what led her to commit such a horror? M K Boers leads us deftly through the ruins of a mind that has fallen apart, and keeps us gripped as we watch it start to heal itself. A remarkable piece of work, forensic and astute, that also shines a light on middle-England and its foibles. This book will stay in your mind for a long, long time.
