Snowballing (Snow Dates Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 269 ratings

A single dad. A flirty manny. A crafty kid. Do they stand a snowball’s chance in hell of a merry and bright future together?

Gareth

It was literally the biggest d*ck I’d ever seen in person, and I started to question if my ass could handle it. But I didn’t quit drinking Diet Coke like I said I was going to last year and I wasn’t about to quit now either. After all, ten inches was a rare commodity these days.

It was supposed to be a one and done experience, so I was shocked when our paths crossed again - out of the bedroom.

I can’t remember the last time I felt a pull this strong, but I’d never dated a client before. Maybe this one’s too good to pass up?

Eli

Being a single dad pretty much meant I had to schedule NSFW time and rely on a babysitter. It’s all part of my exciting life in finance with the now-added bonus of after-school hockey practices.

After my company rewarded me with a trip to Hawaii, I was on the hunt for a new kid-watcher. Based on my neighbor's recommendation, I'm introduced to Gareth - the last person I expected to see.

But the human mind is a funny thing because I don't see that as a problem. And neither does my c*ck.

Snowballing is a gay, rom-com, age gap, holiday novella with enough spice to season a whole gingerbread village. It features a dash of forced proximity, a blitzen of kink, a comet of forbidden romance, and of course, Finn’s fetish for jockstraps. There is snow in the book, but most of the white stuff contained herein isn’t cold and it isn’t falling from the sky in flake form. Snowballing is the first book in the Snow Dates series - an annual, kink-positive, holiday series about men falling in love with other men.

Finn Dixon made a childhood dream come true and has worked in the zoological field since 2006. He’s taken care of everything from alligators to zebras, but his favorites will always be rhinos. Thus far, his MM romances have focused on contemporary stories that include jocks (and jockstraps), but fantasy, paranormal, and historical have been observed in the crystal ball of Finn’s future.

In his spare time, he likes watching gay films and shows with happy endings (giggity), playing Disney Dreamlight Valley, re-watching Jurassic Park and Clue, and traveling when he can afford it.

And yes, he likes jocks, but he promises all his books won’t be about them.

Or will they?

Okay so I just did a reread of this book and I forgot how much I loved these goofballs! They have great chemistry from the very start. Both Gareth and Eli are equal parts sweet and dirty and I am here for it. They are so hot together. And the amount of times I cackled out loud. Finn writes such great banter and the funniest scenes. If you’re looking for a quick, funny, and spicy read, look no further!

Eli is a Financial Advisor who has exceeded everyone in the company, not only earning him a huge Christmas bonus but also a trip to Hawaii. He decided to celebrate by making a call for an escort so he could have a night of sex. He is the father of a twelve-year-old, Trey who he pawns off on a neighbor while he prepares for a fun time. What he didn’t expect was for his son to come home early while he was just starting to get into the fun with his escort, Jayden. His reaction was to shove Jayden out the door minus pants which were laying in the kitchen.

When Trey inquired about the pants Eli played them off as his own unfortunately for Eli twelve-year-olds now a days are way too smart and when Trey insists his father tries them on, they fit him like a pair of spandex. Trey was only too happy to relate everything to his uncle, Eli’s brother and everyone had a good laugh. Jayden (Gareth) was totally bummed out because Eli had an asset that he so wanted to get up close and personal with.

When Eli wrote to Jayden apologizing for sending him out in freezing weather without pants and offered to take him to dinner, just dinner, as if. So, dinner and a hotel room Eli and Gareth finally got to enjoy the sex they missed on when Trey arrived home early. Eli was lucky to have neighbors with grown children and are more than happy to watch Trey but when Nancy’s husband gets injured, and they are unable to watch Trey for a while she recommends a Manny, and she knows just who would fit the bill.

At the mall Eli calls Gareth and they meet up, surprise Gareth is none other than Jayden and when Trey takes an instant liking to him Eli knows he must hire him. As the two men and boy get to know each other everyone finds comfort in each other but of course, Eli and Gareth’s form of comfort is off the charts.

I can’t continue the story since other than Gareth, Eli and Trey getting to know each other the rest of the story is sex, sex, sex and explicit to the point at times of being way out there and Trey is aware that things between his father and Manny are much more than friends. Not even a teenager and Trey is aware of his own sexuality and what is going on behind closed doors, his father’s closed door.

Well, this is not the first MM romance I have read but I did learn something new, I now know that snowballing isn’t throwing snowballs at each other lol.

Often times with novella’s, I feel like I don’t really get to know the MC’s that well, I’m left wanting more. That wasn’t the case with Finn Dixon’s “Snowballing”. I did want more, but only because I loved these characters so much, and their chemistry was smoking! Eli and Gareth meet as Jordy and Jayden on a hookup app. The sexy times are smoking hot, and then laugh out loud funny, as they are interrupted by Eli’s tween son, Trey. Feeling bad about the way he shoved Gareth out of his house, and out into the snow, Eli treats Gareth to an apology dinner. And what an apology it was! These two are hot enough to melt the snow! Needing a manny for an upcoming trip, Eli gets a recommendation from his neighbor. You can imagine the shock when Eli realizes his possible new manny is the hookup he can’t stop thinking about. They both try to keep things professional, but when you throw in an ice storm, busted pipes, one bed, and a not so oblivious kid, that flies right out the window.

I couldn’t put this read down and got upset that I had to stop reading to go to work. This was a fun, hot, funny read. The characters, both leads and secondary, are fully fleshed out and I loved them all. Especially Trey, Eli’s son. He’s smart, sarcastic (in the way all tweens are), and he loves his dad. Eli is a fantastic single father (is there anything sexier), and he has a filthy, kinky side that I was totally there for. Gareth may be a lot younger than Eli, but he’s got himself together. He’s a hustler, and I loved that his occupations were portrayed in a positive light (as they should be).

I loved everything about this story and can’t wait to read more from this author.

Very nearly a DNF but I skimmed to get to the happy ending. I got there but I was still very nearly disappointed. I just wasn’t into the entire book. I didn’t like the pace or the characters very much. The kink was weird in a not for this story way. The son was confusing, coming across as an adult half the time and a child the other half. It just didn’t connect with me.

I had a lot of fun with these two. Gareth is a worker who ends up being called by Eli, the single dad who has a night away from his kid. The night goes horribly and an apology dinner leads to a very steamy night. Christmas Eve Eli’s normal babysitter is out of commission but reaches out to her friend’s son who’s a part time manny, surprising them both, the manny turns out to be Gareth. Their connection strengthens with the time Gareth spends getting to know Eli’s son and they soon cannot stay away.

This was a fabulous quick and dirty little read. It’s perfect.

There is no angst it’s dual first person point of view, and it is just sweet and so steamy. Two guys who happened to get together and find out they really are perfect for each other

I think there’s probably a bit of an age gap but it’s never ever mentioned and Eli is a single dad, but his kid is the most chill easy-going kid on the planet lol and actually wants his dad to get together with his Manny

This was a steamy, spicy, hot and hilarious novella! Melt the snow type of steam!!! I laughed so hard reading this. After a little mix up when they first meet, Eli and Gareth’s chemistry was instant. The majority of their banter and even flirting had me rolling. I was in tears when they fell on the stairs, I don’t even know why but I found it quite hilarious!!!! Eli’s son was so cute and the way he kept trying to get them together was adorable. I loved it!!

💕 Dive into this story of Jayden and TenInchTop aka Gareth and Eli. Their beginning was just meant to be like any other night between an escort and his client. Except that it didn’t turn out as they planned. And wow, what a great scene!
The magnetism between the two began as something sexual and blossomed into more. Eli is a great dad with a snarky, too smart for his own good son Trey. Gareth and Trey are equally amazing together. Their connection is just as instantaneous, connecting in a way that Eli cannot. And a family unit is quickly and easily formed.

So far I had read eveyrthing Finn has published as an MM writer and I was wondering how this novella would hold up to the lengthier books. Gareth and Eli their interactions; Let me tell you a cooling drink was needed after this very steamy read. 😉. Finn had a lot of banter, dialogue, flirting, innunendo and seriously 'dirty' steamy scenes going on. I found my self chuckling many a time which drew some concerned looks in the cafe I was reading at 😄. I found the writing style held up in this shorter work and flowed wonderfully well.
I also like how Trey, Eli his son, tried to play matchmaker, little did he know that was not needed at all.

so the story was hot in parts but wow Trey is one precocious 12 yr old who pretty much took over the story and sure is very grown up for 12...just seemed a bit odd to me

Gareth and Eli work and the meet cute/s were good but I think maybe more talking and conversation/ feelings and less kids and Trey.

Eli and Gareth meet via an app, Eli hiring Gareth for the evening, wanting an uncomplicated and easy hookup but when his son comes home interrupting things and Gareth is quickly ousted, Eli feels bad and takes Gareth to dinner. Then they finish their fun 😉

When Eli gets a new Manny to look after his son and it turns out to be Gareth - sparks continue to fly!

This was a really fun read, fabulous spicy scenes and a pretty cute story!

Quick holiday novella with age gap with hot sexy times, between an older single dad and his manny.

Eli and Gareth were great together and I enjoyed the inclusion of Trey, the teen son in the story. Great characters and fun fluffy holiday read.
