When I was given this book to review, I honestly didn't know what to expect. What I got, blew me away. Dee doesn't pull any punches. If there's anything regarded as a trigger, it's in this book. Each story contains its own warnings so you know which ones will be hard for you. The amazing thing was that none of it was gratuitous or for shock value. The writing was so poetic and beautiful, and the characters so genuine, the settings so familiar and textured that even the worst subject matter felt worth reading about. In my opinion, this is when horror transgresses and becomes literature. The author is phenomenal and now that I do know what to expect, I can't wait to see what she writes next.
