Purchase options and add-ons

“Makes you want to pack a bag and live that vagabond dream we all have.”
“Some incidents were hilarious, others filled you with wonder and of course, wanderlust.”

After losing his job, Alistair took the plunge and travelled into the wilds of South America with his wife. Months later, they were running for their lives in Bolivia!
Join Alistair and Fran as they raft down the Amazon, teach English in the jungle, climb volcanoes and endure a hair-raising taxi ride across the Andes, along with a pig! Before tackling the Inca trail, they hired a donkey called Angus and trekked across a remote mountain pass, with just a mud map to guide them.
While venturing off the beaten track, they discovered Inca ruins, bustling markets and mountain villages inhabited by kindly folk offering food and shelter. If you enjoy fun-filled travel stories,
Postcards from South America will tempt you to reach for a map, pack your bags and take the trip you’ve always dreamed about!

Alistair always had a yearning for adventure but rarely travelled far and wide. This all changed one winters day, when General Motors decided to close the factory gates. He took the payout and grabbed the chance to finally travel the world.

He grew up in suburban Luton (a large cosmopolitan town 30 miles north of London) where childhood adventures required a vivid imagination and often involved garden hopping, knock up ginger or scrumping. Family holidays were spent in Donegal, staying with his Grandmother in their large family home where she had once raised fifteen children.

It was these annual trips that first made Alistair realise that his Great Uncles were Seanachaís (Irish story tellers).

After a few pints of Guinness, twin brothers Great Uncle Barney and Francis would enthral visitors with their recitations of life in the North West of Ireland. Alistair still remembers these magical evenings and now enjoys telling stories of his own.

48 countries and four decades later, Alistair now calls Australia home. He lives between the beach and the forest with his wife, 2 young boys and an adorable dog, called Peppi.

The book is a basically a holiday journal with no real literary accomplishment nor storyline of worth. It’s a simple description of where they went and what they did on their extended holiday to South America. I found it pretty boring and didn’t get to the end.

1.0 out of 5 stars some factual points

There was no humour in the book which reads like a very sterile account of a cautious trip. I expected more of an adventure
