Sovereign is the first book of the new series Wicked Vows by Jane Henry. This book contains steamy scenes (who doesn't like those) force marriage (again who doesn't like to read about this), also this is a dark bratva stand alone romance. What else can I say! In this book we are introduced to Mikhail who is the new Pakhan for the Russian Mafia, and the smart and talented Aria. She is a college professor by day and by night she is more of a hacker. Thanks to something Aria discovers, she is forced to seek out Mikhail for protection, instead she has to marry him. Mikhail needs a wife, since all of his fiances ended up “disappearing”, he doesn’t think anyone is suitable enough for the position until he meets Aria. If you are looking for an alpha male that gives out the vives “touch my wife and die” then Sovereign is for you. The steamy scenes, and the chemistry between Aria and Mikhail is out of this world. Jane you have outdone yourself again, can’t wait for what's to come of Wicked Vows!

    This is the first book in Henry's Wicked Vows series. (Already read the second and loved it). These are all stand-alones with HEA and no cliffhangers. However, since they deal with the same family of brothers and their enemies, it might be better enjoyed if read in order for continuity of events and characters.

    This one deals with Mikhail Romanov, eldest son and supposed heir to the Romanov Bratva. His father has recently passed, but in order to be accepted as the new Pakhan by the other families, he must marry within a specified timeframe. There are some who want to seize that power for themselves and will do anything to keep him from being named Pakhan. Time is running out, but with two potential brides dead before the wedding, no one else is offering their daughter or willing to negotiate an arranged marriage with him.

    Aria has mad computer and coding skills. She's the best of the best hackers with a photographic memory (book says photogenic, but we know better, lol). She came from a very humble background and is all alone in the world now. She teaches at a local community college, but doesn't make enough to survive. She does hacking jobs...for extra money...and sometimes just to see if she can break in. But when she hacks into the wrong place with they come knocking at her door. She manages to hide and later escape.

    Now she's on the run. With no money and nothing to her name, she goes to an old wealthy college friend hoping to borrow some money to dissapear. Instead the friend suggests she needs someone jst as big and bad to protect her. She can offer her services to Mikhail Romanov and his Bratva in exchange for their protection. But Mikhail's not intetested in her computer skills.... he wants something else instead. But will he be able to keep her safe from his own enemies till they say "I do"?

    Loved Mikhail and Aria. He's a no nonsense, emotionless, "obey me or else" kind of guy. Aria is no pushover. Used to being on her own, with no one to answer to, she likes to push Mikhail's buttons earning her a few "or else's". The first time was just to see what he would do. While she learns to obey, he learns to trust and falls hard. Great story! I do love Jane Henry's work! 4.75 stars

    This book was exciting from beginning to end. It definitely wasn’t as dark as I thought it would be despite containing a forced marriage. It was almost like looking at the Bratva in rose colored glasses, it made me want to find my own scary Russian Bratva Pakhan.

    Aria is a brilliant woman who can hack into anything, but when she discovers damning evidence against some very powerful people, she is in need of protection from someone who isn’t afraid to skirt the law. Mikhail is looking for a bride to secure his new position as Pakhan of the Russian Bratva, and when he catches Aria hacking into his system he finds the perfect solution for both of them.

    I loved both Aria and Mikhail. They had an instant connection but that was muddied by their circumstances. They quickly fell for each other and I loved how protective Mikhail was. Aria was a strong character and was perfect for Mikhail. She was witty and determined and didn’t let him walk all over her but was able to submit to him in a way that he needed.

    There were so many intriguing secondary characters and I hope they all get their own stories. This was the perfect introduction to the Romanov family and I can’t wait for more to come!

    This was an okay read. It basically ends on a: CLIFFHANGER. Aria’s skills as a hacker, wasn’t utilized very much in this book.

    PLOT: Aria enjoys hacking. She hacks into the wrong site and discovers important information. She’s on the run for her life. Because people are after her, for what she now knows.

    She visits a friend (Tatiana) and Tatiana helps her, to a certain extent. Aria has a plan of her own. She just prays that it will work…It’s her only hope.

    She follows through in her plan. But, it backfires on her. She finds herself, drugged and kidnapped and at the mercy of the Bratva Pakhan (Mikhail).

    Mikhail needs a wife and he also needs an offspring, to keep his position and for the safety of his family. He figures on such short notice…Aria will do.

    Aria has no choice but to marry Mikhail. She has no where to go and she needs his protection. What she didn’t expect was to have his enemy (Volkov) come after her numerous times and she also didn’t expect to have feelings for her captor/ husband.

    There is something that Mikhail is keeping from Aria. When she finds out, will she still stay and live in luxury, married to the leader of the Bratva???

    I haven't read a book by this author before but took a chance and found it to be pretty good. I'm not really a fan of the punishment vibe but that's just me. Otherwise I really enjoyed it, the main characters had good chemistry and the storyline had enough action and intrigue that made the book hard to put down.

    I really enjoyed Mikhail and Aria's story. It was a fairly quick read with Bratva involvement.

    There were spice, light Bratva elements, found family and love.

    The connection between Mikhail and Aria was so heartwarming. I liked that Aria was so brilliant at what she did. Mikhail was super OTT and possessive, which just added to the whole feel of the relationship.

    This book set up future books with the Romanov siblings.
